I normally never drink, I went to a wedding and drank quite a few vodka drinks. I woke up the next morning to stomach cramps n rectal bleeding. It stopped after 2 days. I did have a colonoscopy to make sure everything was OK n it was. Test came back fine. So my lesson was if I don't drink I won't bleed. At least not til the next wedding. Lol

This happens to me as well, but not if I only drink once or twice. If I drink a lot every day over a week or longer at some point it starts to burn and the muscles ache when I poo, like when eating spicy food. and I get fissures, and they heal, but it has happened a few times now. I'm 100% this is from drinking. Because if I quit drinking the symptoms go away and I don't get fissures. Maybe a blessing in disguise because I can't binge drink if this is the result.

I'm 54, male, and I've been in the habit of drinking 4 to 6 scotchs or bourbons per evening, for the last decade or so. I've had hemorrhoids that occasionally bled, they seemed to get worse a month or so ago. For a week and a half I noticed I was getting very short of breath whenever I slightly exerted myself. I finally went to see my doctor, the lab work indicated my hemoglobin was at 5 instead of 15. I was severely anemic, and they admitted me into the hospital right away.
2 nights in and four units of blood and 2 iron infusions later, they cut me loose, after doing 2 scopes (one lower, one upper).
Since out I've cut my drinking down to 1 or 2 a night when I drink ( 3, 4 nights / week ), and have had no more bleeding.

Ok Ill admit sometimes binge drink. Yes it makes me bleed and directly or indirectly it's the alcohol 100%.

It's the drinking. You have to stop. The alcohol is damaging your GI system. I drink only a few shots of whisky before bed for a sleep and 3 weeks of doing this caused me bad anal bleeding, more than half pint of maroon coloured blood passed within 3 hours. I stopped the drinking and the bleeding stopped. But was in hospital for 3 days on a drip and have to go for Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy. Best that you don't continue drinking. See your Doctor urgently or go to the hospital. As rectal bleeding can also be sign of cancer and must be looked into.

I think its the fermented sugar that irritates your anal tissue therefore causing bleeding on contact. if more severe that a surface wound i would suggest a colonoscopy
