All of these three options can help you recover. For best results, try all three:
Quitting: It can take a long time for your body to recover and return to normal function. By incorporating the next two points (diet and exercise), quitting can be much more effective in a shorter time. However if you are unable to quit for a long enough period of time, working hard on the next two points may still provide a noticeable improvement.
Diet: Research "food for (impotence, libido, sexdrive, testosterone)". Try eating more of different veges and find what works for you. Onions, Asparagus, Garlic, Watermellon and Spinach are very effective. Veges are more effective uncooked. Most fruit and veges should help. Don't be fooled by suppliments. Find what fruit and veges work best for you.
Exercise: Exercise is extremely effective and you may see results almost immediately in libido and erections. Marijuana may only be causing your problem indirectly by making you lazy or making your body lazy by slowing down your cardiovascular (blood flow) system. It's easy to see a direct corelation to exercise and libido. Try having a good ab workout or cardio workout where you break a sweat and you should see an improvment later that day or the next morning. If you're not working full time or busy enough, that may be your biggest problem.
If you can't quit, diet and exercise will only be effective in the short term becuase marijuana will continue to slow down your cardiovascular system. By first quitting, diet will cleanse your system over time and provide the nutrients you need to achieve normal function. Exercise will improve circulation which is imparative for both libido and erections.
Funny thing is, of all the responses to this question, only the girl was closest to being correct. Here is what Colarina wrote:
"My boyfriend has smoked weed almost is whole life and he's almost 30. And he's amazing in bed and we only ever have problems with him not getting a erection when he's anxious, sleepy, really really really drunk, or being lazy all f*****g week and sitting sround smoking pot and playing video games. Seriously! He works with granite and when he doesn't work or anything he can't get it up because his heart andcirculatory system has't been getting any cardio. I know how much you potheads hate exercise, but really it helps lol. just a little bit like 2-3 times a week. I'm talking walk for 30 - 1hr. that'll seriously help lots. AND EAT GREENS!!! These are proven increase libido/erection. I'm not crazy. i just pay attention to my boyfriend, his habits and their consequences lol. So pot doesn't directly affect your erection, but it makes you wanna sit and eat junk food. And those are what will kill your sex life. And getting anxious about it will only make it worse!"
If you're having problems with morning erections you may not be eating enough. When you smoke marijuana, your heart rate speeds up and so does your metabolism which is why you become hungry. Your body uses energy at a faster rate and needs more energy (food). If you go to bed hungry and you don't wake up with a morning erection, try eating more around bed time and see if there is an improvement in the morning. If this is the case, it may also be the reason you are having troubles throughout the day. Sexual energy is extra energy. If your body is drained from smokeing, you may need to consume more energy to have the extra, sexual energy.
Same here!!! but happened when i was 19. Smoked weed for a whole year straight then i met this girl which i liked ALOT and i couldn't get it up. We had great sex the first time after that it was down hill. I would avoid her and everything jeez how embarassing. Trust me I know how you feel. Solution- i stopped smoking weed on a friday and that same weekend i went so crazy with all the problems in my life i decided to do alot of cocaine that weekend. Why i dont know i guess i was pissed off at mary jane. After two days of binging on coke that monday following friday my penis was working just fine, I guess i activated my central nervous system or something.... I avoided this girl for two whole months for the weed. Luckily she really liked me and stuck with me the whole time. NOte: that was the only weekend i ever used cocaine like that, they offered me some that weekend and spent like 60 on saturday and 40 on sunday. Before that maybe tried it 2 or 3 times..... I lasted 2 whole years with that chick, then i got bored of her and we broke up. I love mary jane if I could ill smoke till i die. But it's one or the other your choice. I'll smoke maybe twice a month, two hits thats it and im blown.

Wow, this thread is five years old. It seems like others are facint the same problem. The description describes my situation perfectly. I do have something to add that might help. Firstly, I used to smoke weed up until I was 21. I quit for many years because of my professional career. Up until recently, I know that I have had a much greater than average sex drive. I could have sex multiple times a night, and this was consistent up until recently. I am 37 now.
With the legalization of medical marijuana in my state, I was back in. At first, marijuana enhanced sex. I got more aroused looking at porn, or during sex, as everything seemed exciting and new. I was smoking quite regularly, but not an overwhelming amount. This all changed when I had access to large quantities of weed. I was somking everyday, multiple times a day. I had a new girlfriend and sex was amazing. I was my usual self and could perform tremendously. Then suddenly it happened. I started having problems getting any sort of erection, maintaining one, and if I did, they were not full strenght. I had my testosterone checked, and it was below the normal range. After quitting for 2 weeks, the problem seemed worse than ever. However, by the 3rd week, I was getting back to normal. Blood work showed that my total and free testosterone had increased to normal ranges, but still on the low side. Assuming that my problem was fixed, I started back regular smoking. By the 4th to 5th week, even with smoking, I felt great. Weed was actually enhancing sex for me again. It felt great. I was trying not to do it as much just in case however. That all changed recently. I smoked more and more, and consumed edibles, and now the first signs of dysfunction are showing up. Needless to say, I stopped smoking immediately. I don't know what more evidence I need. Yes marijuana can enhance sex and erection, it did for me. No, everyone may not suffer from this problem. But I believe that saturating your system, along with other external factors (age, diet, exercise, stress, sleep, etc) can be the tipping point on the scale.
So, hands down, weed vs sex, sex wins. I will be trying to see how much I can get away wish smoking without the ill effects, but I am prepared to give it up if need be. I know how frustrating this problem can be, but try quitting, and give it a good month. THC stays in your system for that or longer depending on your physiology. If you don't show signs of improvement in a month, then seek medical advice, because it is probably something else. Hope this helps guys.
Zerok update us on youre situation please,it whould be nice!
I have literally the same situation as the guy who originally posted here. I have been smoking marijuana almost every day for about a year, also I am around same age as the guy who started this. The beginning of my constant smoking, first six months, used to get me real turned on and let me keep my penis up easy, and I'd last looooooonggggg time. I noticed probably at around 7 or 8 months of smoking everyday that my sex-drive was down, as in didn't care to masturbate as much but that was all. I still got up in the morning with wood and never failed to perform when the time was right. Two days ago I was hard, hooking up with this girl I've known a while, wanted to get with for a while. I was high at the time. She asked me if I wanted to do it, and of course my brain and penis told me to. SO I put on the condom start f*****g her, and then like after 5 minutes, I just go soft, randomly. I was so embarrassed, and that was the first time it happened to me during sex and I know it shouldn't have. She luckily was very understanding and actually still wants to f**k me which is a plus. After that I have been searching the internet in the recent days on causes of this and how to fix it. I work out every day, play football, lightweights, eat protein a good amount, got about 5% body fat, overall healthy teen. I have quit smoking anything since that day and have been eating a dark chocolate bar once a day, hearing that's a natural aphrodisiac. Yesterday morning I noticed I didn't have morning wood, which scared me. Luckily this morning, I don't think I woke up with wood but I noticed some about 15 minutes after I woke up, although not fully erect. I no longer get random boners throughout the day like I remember I used to get throughout my days the past couple years, but I don't remember exactly when this stopped. I know this still happened at least 6 months ago. I still can masturbate, and get it up if i want to. She got me up, I just went limp. I still look at women that I find attractive and think, "I would hit that" and such. I have been searching for answers but I either find stuff saying it's mental or I find stuff on old men who can't get it up. Should I go see a doctor and talk about it and figure it out? I have loved mary jane and supported her strongly, and I'll continue to, but in regards to my personal habits, if it's sex or marijuana, I want sex. If anyone has any advice or answers I would appreciate it.
NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!
I will reply telling my entire experience but this one sure resembles a lot mine experience...
I quitted mj for two weeks, and after this period my libido and erections sure got better... thinking the problem was solved i got back to smoke and the ed problems got back together... so it´s obvioulsy to me that have indeed a correlation...
The time i did a break on the mj my erections was just fine... when i got back to smoke, the first times the erections are like the old ones after smoke... very strong and lasted longer but just after a few days smoking weed the problems is back...
Have you heard about the "THC receptors" in the brain? I read somewhere that they are also in the smooth muscle of the penis. And that is probably the cause of "weed weiner". My husband has this problem, has for years now, but will not stop smoking to see if it can get better. He's pretty much in denial. Some men say when they quit the weed their erections come back. But others, who smoked a lot or a long time, say even after years of not smoking pot they are still impotent. Do yourself and your future wife (and any kids you want to have) a big favor and stop immediately and completely. Dude, it's just not worth it!!! Marijuana may be a good medicine for certain sicknesses, but getting permanently impotent just for a buzz is just lame.
