Makeup and especially skin care are so technologically advanced that they tell the skin how to do its job. It is the intention of advanced beauty products to cause a chemical injury to the skin. This injury causes the body to step up and begin to start healing the slight wound. Although, you can’t really see what is going on, but this is how some makeup and skin care is designed. Some of the chemicals are very strong, and like many other things, and can contribute to cancer.

How Do I Know What Dangerous Chemicals Are in My Makeup?
It would take up a few pages to list all of the chemicals that are found in makeup and that harmful. If you have concerns, you can start doing your own research and investigated the product labels of the beauty products that you already own. The ingredients are listed from the most active to the least harmful. Here is a small list of some of these common but harsh chemicals:
- Hydroquinone: Also know as Alpha Hydroxy Acids used to help lighten skin and can contribute to cancer
- Formaldehyde: Ensures the purity of cosmetics and poses a caner risk
- Toluene: Petroleum based paint thinner and possibly toxic to the immune system
- Parabens: A preservative in which many people are highly allergic
- Sodium Laurel Sulfate: A widely used foaming agent that is currently under review
- Aluminum Oxide: A heavy metal used in many beauty products and suspected to contribute to some forms of dementia
You can do your research easily with the help of the Environmental Working Group Deep Skin Database. This website is loaded with a wealth of information about toxic skin care. Also, compare the ingredients found on your makeup bottles with scientific information found on the Federal Department of Agriculture website.
What Can You Do About Toxic Makeup?
Although many beauty companies claim to have natural makeup, the word ‘natural’ does not always mean that it is safe. Likewise, the term ‘Organic’ does not mean that it is perfectly harmless. They are many things that you can find in your yard that are 100% Organic but it dose not mean that it should be rubbed all over the face. Even the mineral makeup that so many people are currently using, it may be natural, but natural dose not ensure that it is safe. Mineral makeup is made up of heavy minerals that are found in the earth. Ingredients such as iron, titanium, and zinc are not something that should be used all over the face. There is no makeup or over the counter skin care that is completely safe.
Be a smart consumer and do a little research on the products that are in your bathroom. Get rid of the products with the most harmful ingredients and choose a safer product.
