Thanks for your input. I have three children and all of them would sleep in my bed at the same time, and sometimes one at a time. Even grown (18-27) they will climb into bed or when I go to wake them up, they will reach out and invite me to cuddle for awhile. We talk nothing more. I think our culture is so over sexualized and paranoid, that people are finding a pervert under every bed.

I had a client that used her son because she was lonely. She had him sleep in her bed only when she wasn't dating men. The son at 13 and already had an internet porn addiction. I think it should be an individual thing. I don't think it's right to use your kids so you don't have to sleep alone, get a dog! This is where the family bed goes wrong when its just not sleeping but not being an adult about being by yourself, or being to lazy to get up in the middle of the night. Parents that are selfish and self centered abuse this family bed concept.

Honestly, it's as if you don't understand the psychological connection in nature that a son or daughter has for their mother. When sleeping in their mothers bed, they feel calm. Happy and mainly of all: protected. It's natural to say the least. Sure 13 might be old ish but that doesn't not deny the fact that even the scent of his mother could make him or her feel protected. Doesn't take rocket science to understand this. Giving the kid a lecture For something he or she can't help Is like scolding a kid for hitting puberty.

me and my brother slept with my mother until we were 13.........and even when i got older i slept with her every once in a while at her feet. then me and my brother gor married and it stooped. we are both very happy and normal. we just felt very close to our mom. we loved her dearly. she passed already. but I see absolutely nothing wrong with this as long as it doesn't effect anyone's health.
