Hi, my Dr sent the two large pieces of tissue off to test. It came back as the lining of my womb. Apparently after my ultrasound the lining of my womb was 9 cm and it's normally around 4-5 cm . He said mine wasn't a miscarriage .

Hello ladies,

I am 49 years old, not on any birth control and have not been sexually active for over 2 years.  Women in my family began going thru  menopause in their early to mid 40's, so when I missed my period for 6 months I was told that I was in the beginning stages of my meopause.  I started my period last week and it has been very heavy with a large clump in it every time I go to urinate.  Each clump is about the size of a prune, very gooey and dark reddish in color.  It is as if my body is making up for the 6 months of not having one.  I was just about to drive myself to the ER but decided to search online first.  Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences and concerns with me.

Can anyone tell me how long this heavy bleeding period is expected to last and when it should become a concern?

I just had this EXACT scenario happen to me and im 19. It was pretty traumatizing. But my cycle tends to go off for 3 months on a regular basis but this was the first time that the mass of tissue coming out has happened and it really scared me. Did anyone's doctor say this might effect their chances of carrying a pregnancy?

I had a similar experience. I'm19 and last new years, I experienced the worst cramping ever. I couldn't move, it left me in a cold sweat and lasted for around a week. During this I bled out chunks. Then one day, I bled out two clear round half dollar sized things, with red dots in the middle with red vein-like things coming out of the center. My period had been two-months late, and I was sexually active. My boyfriend and I believe it was a miscarriage, but we still aren't sure, and I stupidly did not show the two circles to a doctor.
I haven't been able to find anything on the internet describing what I experienced. Anyone have a clue?

hey im just wondering if anyone has heard anything new about what this could be im 19 aslo, have had the implanon in for nearly 2 years since i had my son and i started the pill last month but have been told to come off it by my doctor as it was making me feel sick and dizzy (i was only on it to regulate my cycle) this happened to me the other day and i was terrified im pretty sure i wasnt pregnant after all i was on two forms of contraceptive at the time and my sez drive has been very low dissapointing as it is for my bf. but its has happened before with some people so ive started worrying i havent been to the doctor yet and i flushed whatever it was cause i didnt see much point keeping it till i got to the doctors ive had clots before since i had my implant put in but none this size and its scared me quite a bit, ive heard that sometimes people get large clumps after missing a period and its just the lining coming out all at once but this was the first regular period id had in about 3 years thanks to the pill i have lost quite a bit of weight and im finding it difficult to sleep at night recently i dont know if this is anything to do with it but any info would really help put my mind at ease

My girlfriend is 26yo and she has had this same thing happen to her 3-4 times now (over the last 3-4 months). The size of it is more like a lemon with a miniscule bit of blood and the rest of the "clot" being fleshy tissue. It is quite impossible for her to be pregnant as we are a healthy lesbian couple and she is what they call a "gold star lesbian" (never been with a man and doesn't have the urge to ever be with a man). She had a tumor that en-golfed her entire L ovary that the doctors had found about 2 years back while trying to find the root cause of her "cyclic vomiting syndrome." She had the ovary & tumor removed which was supposed to cure the "cyclic vomiting syndrome." She still suffers from severe vomiting and diarrhea like clock work every menstrual cycle. AND now to top it off we are dealing with her giving birth to lemon sized clots while on the toilet. We joke and say that her internal clock is ticking so hard that it is litterally spitting eggs out at her; talk about subtle hints. We were told that it was just the lining passing. THE WHOLE linning all at once?!? None of the doctors that we have talked to; and trust me, there have been A LOT, know what to tell us other than they believe it is just the lining passing which is normal. It is very scary not knowing and not having a real good answer. I want to know why it happens, what causes it to happen? What can we do to prevent it from happening? For those of you using birth control, this all happened 5 months after she stopped taking the neuva ring (failed experiment in trying to cure the "cycling vomiting syndrom" again). 8-9 months after discontinuing the use of the neuva ring (which was only used for 6 months) is when this first started happening to her. Side effects of Neuva ring?!?!

Hey there my first question to you in order to diagnose and answer you properly is this : Do you use tampons?

I used to suffer from a similar condition and most doctors shrugged it off as a big coincidence. After finding a gyno that wanted to help, I ended up trying several different birth controls, I found that Yasmin actually keeps me from throwing up for 24 hours straight every single month (which is a little strange because Yaz actually did not work?) I got those large clumps when I was inbetween birth controls and was told they were just my uterus shedding in one big clump, most likely due to my hormone imbalance being unable to break down the tissue correctly.

Hi ladies,

This happened to me yesterday, it was very painful (cramps) and then a sac popped out, it looked like an embrionic sac  but I did a pregnancy test and it is Negative.I searched around and found this:

It's called a decidual cast, it's basically the whole uterus lining being expelled in one piece.

my daughter just had the same thing happen, on the pill without periods for a few months, the brown blood for days, then periods, an excruciating period pain, the pod like fleshy triangular shaped piece came out. We kept the sample and it was tested by a pathologist - it was endometrial tissue. She also had an ultrasound - nothing sinister going on.

I just had the same thing happen to me. I'm scared though. I had the pain for about 15 minutes and I just felt something come out and there was a sac. I'm wondering if I go to the gynecologist if they could help without my mom knowing just in case it was a miscarriage.

Hi,i always hv had irregular period.for years the docs cudnt find anything wrong but last year whn i didnt get my period for 9months and then bled for 2months nonstop though little ,did an ultrasound again and found i hv a polycystic ovary which caused this bleeding.thn the doc gave a medicine which finally stopped the bleeding and caused a normal period finally but with a big shock,a large tissue came out with unbearable pain.so i m just hoping its the cyst which bursted out.it can b a misscarriage coz i m not sexually active.next month my period came on time with normal pains and good flow.so it might b a cyst or ur old uterine lining. I hope this helped u :)
