Hello!!!!

my problems were are the same as ScarFace85:s. I've had three big operations, with some small ones in the middle, with the first and last being open rhinoplastyes.
The first surgery was more than a disappointment. My nose got worse, second didn't do any of change and so on.
Iv had this swelling thing also a looong time, and i know when i can feel heat, (cold is also a bad sweller),ll know that my nose is getting BIG. And the worst part is that its not just my nose, its my hole face, eyes, upper lip, cheeks, and so on. I don't know was it anymore normal swelling, or scar tissue swelling??I had decided to do a last and final revision.

Well i again took my high hopes really high and hoped for a miracle. EEEh, well i kinda got that, but also did not.
After a whole year my nose was so swollen, and i mean nasty! My swollen nose with my thick greasy skin looked as bad as ever. And this was a year post op.....? My other side nostril was like two times(at least) bigger than now, with no figure at all, it just went out of control when that side swell up.... how i felt miserable..
Its been about on the dot two years and finally i'm seeing what iv seen over the course of the two years post op from final revision, little pauses on the swelling, fluctuating swelling, that has paused for couple of minutes, seen the final result without the swelling, these moments have been keeping me going.

Swelling

Well, i hate swelling! There is little or nothing you can do about it(there are somethings), at least in the beginning, your doctor can give you some kenalog but i guess thatch it, in the beginning. Also i never did, but taping could also be of benefit, also not, because of some people are irritant to the tape.

Anyways If it is still swelling on the nose after a year or so, you must of seen it fluctuate to a none swelled form also. If u liked your none swelled form, you probably still have healing to do, time to go until the swelling slowly dissolves. When the annoying swelling starts to go away, really slowly at first, it really fluctuates, one day u look really good and your mood is up, next day u look like Frankenstein, eh that is the price to pay for beauty, NOT, but to look normal, YES.

Iv had the worst possible stuff against me, I'm a man, i have a thick, oily skin, multiple revision, large nose.....
but after all that im finally seeing the light at the end of a long road(too long).

Getting swelling down.

I have basically tried everything.
some stuff i have found useful. some have had a short time effect. The cortisone cream, helped a couple of days then not. Cant be long term solution, really makes skin go bad. Also the cortisone tablets don't help.

What help is nasal saline flush, with volume so that irritation inside your nose would help you heal too. Too much of (many times a day) nasal flush will irritate your nose, but at the beginning it will anyways. Use some cream that can be but inside your nose, since the saline water irritates the passages. Iv seen this help my own problem.

But the most important thing you can do is to have good skin care around your nose. My nose had the most hardest skin ever, it used to peel of slices of dead skin and all the other bad symptoms. Then i realized that really my nose is not the one that swells, but the skin swells. Really there is no muscle in the nose to swell, it is the skin, end it is really irritated, it tries to get grasp on the new base( your nose) and heal. So try washing out the dead cell of your skin( i know this irritates also the skin/nose but it is essential) and cream it with some gentle face milk or moisturizer, not with oil or thick face creams but something that makes your skin soft and energetic. Something that is marketed for allergic people usually don't have so much bad chemicals.

This really healed my skin/ swelling problem maybe you will benefit from it too. But you must be constant. Don¨t expect to get results inside of three days. U cant really get any result inside of a week, trying anything, anything long term that is. The most annoying and the best remedy is patience, i really hate that, but it works.

Sorry bout the writing, i¨m from Europe!

hi, I know this is reply is really late but maybe someone who needs to hear this will stumble upon it. I had the same problem with swelling a year ago; heat, exertion and lying down made the problem worse. Then I did a juice fast for two weeks then a water fast for five days and i was waking up to no swelling at all!! I couldn't believe it! Because I've been looking for solutions online for so long and all I had to do was let my body heal itself. The water fast is what really did it though. I could see visible surface scars on my body and cracks on my feet disappearing! even after I stopped the fast I could still see the results until my scars were completely vanished! Anyways I should warn you that it is kind of difflicult and you should prepare your body for a fast, esp. the water fast! Please please please read about the safest way to do it because it is dangerous if you do it wrong! Long story short get healthy, do a cleanse and fast try a month and you will see magnificant results! i lost weight my skin was smooth and clear, and I had no more swelling! God bless.

Wonder, with so many people complaining about scar tissue, chronic intermittent swelling, why no rhinoplasty surgeons are willing to admit that it is a possibility. They just think it's psychological etc etc

I think we need to have experts comment on this post to understand what can be done for post-rhinoplasty scar tissues.

Happy!  thank you for this tip for my nose tip =)  I hope it will work for me too. I am at 2 and a half years post surgery and the tip of my nose is still swollen. i read that it can remain swollen for up to three years :S  although, to be honest, i will be VERY happy if it lasts ONLY that long =)

Ill try your suggestion!

Hi, I have had five nose operations and in my darkest times have felt suicidal. I had my first op at the age if nineteen, on the nat health, and whilst it was better it was still big. Things went from bad to worse when I found a surgeon whom afterwards I found had been struck off. He really did a right on me and tip was left twisted. Several years later I found a surgeon with a good reputation and I know he tried his best but due to the amount of times it had been operated, although I was happy at first scar tissue formed and has worsened over the years. I cope day to day but when I have to go out socially I always hide behind the painted smile.my family have gone through hell so niw I just pretend it doesn't worry me anymore. I would say don't have anymore surgeries because it only gets worse. I am now 57 and still unhappy but we only have one life and people live in pain everyday. I feel for you there are many of us out there xx

Reading your post made me very depressed :(

I had a rhinoplasty around 4 years ago, for the first 4 months my nose looked great, there was some swelling but it used to get better by the end of each day, around 5 months after the surgery I started to get scarred tissue, at the time i didn't know what it was and i thought it was a form of swelling, my nose now looks very deformed :( I have a large hump on my nose and it looks like its leaning to one side, my nose looks too big for my face and I just HATE it. I finally can afford to have a revision done but i am very worried that my problem will not be solved after surgery. My doc wants to perform an open rhinoplasty where he will remove the scarred tissue and try to give me a better nose, but now I am afraid that the scarred tissue will come back after the second surgery. I have been reading through the comments and was wondering if anyone found a good effective way or minimizing scared tissue. I am suppose to have my surgery in a couple of weeks, I already don't sleep well because this has been really bothering me  all my life, I have very nice eyes but you cannot really notice them because my nose has been always very deformed and big.

I really do hope that the revision will improve the appearance of my nose, I just don't want to be disappointed again :(

Thanks a lit happy for sharing about the juice and water fasts; its a method i just never heard of until today. My problem isnt on the nose, but its the same as all you guys; I have scar tissues looking like lumps on my face at the extremities of my scar ; its really helpful to have here a whole lot of testimonies concerning the same issue.

I recently discover an rnzyme name serrapeptase. It is said thats its a really good enzyme that digest non-living tissues if the bosy, such as dead cells. Ive recently ordered caplets of serrapeptase and once ill receive it, ill start to put it on mu scar tissue everyday just to see if it really work;

If it works ill let you all know :)
Thanks

I had my first nose job 2 years ago. Just had it redone and felt SO optimistic about the results because I paid so much for a revision, but I still look deformed. I'm a single mom and I hate to say it but I want to die. I think about dying every day. My favorite time is when I can sleep bc I have my birth nose in my dreams. If anyone somehow beat this,

Hi, I realize that it has been years since your last post, but I'd like to know how things turned out? I'm in a similar situation and i'm not sure what to do.

Hello,

So sorry to hear about all of these horrible situations.  I too, have had similar situations.  My nose was not bad to begin with I just wanted  few tweaks and what I got was a year or two full of tears.

My first doctor did not do much to my nose (so really saw no difference), the second doctor massacred my nose and made it deformed looking with my right side of my nose collapsing, the tip was drooping, full of scar tissue.  I was crying when the cast was removed.  I kept going to the doctor in tears for a year and he said it was fine-it wasn't.  People who knew me thought I was in a car or surfing accident or something.  I then went to a well known Beverly Hills doctor who really helped me out and did reconstructive surgery and my nose looked fairly normal however it still needed work.

So, I decided to go for one last try and just had my 4th surgery a week and a half ago and I am EXTREMELY happy with the results.  I am still swollen seeing I am just a week and half out of surgery however my nose looks PRETTY!!  It looks like the nose I originally wanted.

I went to Rhinoplasty specialist who also specialize in reconstructive rhinoplasty.  They are the best!!  I would recommend in a heart beat!  I only wish I went to them in the first place.

Consultation is free, Dr. Litner & Dr. Soliemancheck them out:

Good luck and there is hope, believe me I know, I was in the same situation for 5 years.

I had my original surgery in 2010, an open rhinoplasty, which the plastic surgeon, Dr Graham Sellars recommended. All I really wanted was a little nodule on my bridge filed down, as the bone seemed to be a little calcified there. Otherwise my nose was lovely looking, it was fine featured, and a little pointy, however suited me. I used to get comments on how pretty I was. However I suffered from very low self esteem, as a result of being bullied for my appearance during my teenage years at school. So when the plastic surgeon criticised my appearance, stating that my nose was sharp and masculine, I believed every word he said. He told me he wanted to do a septoplasty, as it was just a little crooked, and wanted to do an open rhinoplasty, and to cut down the bridge, and bring down the tip aswell, in essence, to make it all smaller, and less pointy. He told me it would only be millimeters in difference. The surgery lasted almost 5 hours. I was almost suicidal with the results. It was three times the size, and incredibly fat. It was bright red, constantly, and looked like a blob in the middle of my face. The skin was all stretched, my pores were all open, and my skin became greasy, and I started developing acne on my nose, when I never had before. My skin also constantly peeled. My collumella was droopy, making a "V" appearance, and I had considerable alar rim retraction, they were also uneven, my left nostril lifting up a lot more than the right. Dr Sellars just told me that it was only swelling, and that it was looking fantastic in his opinion, and that I would soon be thrilled with the results. The swelling went down a little bit. However it actually looked worse a year later. My tip was still humungous, and even the bridge was very wide, I soon found out that he had actually widened my nose, moving the bones apart. He had taken way too much off the bridge, to the point that it looked ridiculous in comparison to the tip of my nose. My nose suddenly projected out midway down the bridge, rather than being a gradual slope. My nose looked incredibly thick, way too thick for my fine structured facial bone structure, I have a small face. My face seemed to lose the beauty it once had. I looked masculine, and old somehow. My collumella was still droopy, in the shape of a "V", and I still had considerable alar rim retraction, not to mention the fact that my nostrils were humungous, gaping open. Also my nose was now much more crooked than before. So he had in essence deviated my septum. It was still constantly red, and greasy all the time, and swelled even more when ever I was overheated in the slightest. I looked just plain ugly. When I went to see Dr Sellars for my 12 month follow up, I cried, and so did my Mum. His handy work had ruined my face, I went from being somewhat beautiful, to hideous. He told me that I should be very happy with the results, and that he believed my new nose suited me more. Then he suggested that I may have psychological problems, and should seek counselling. Six months down the track, I went to see Dr Paul O'keefe, who specialised in reconstructive rhino-septoplasty reconstruction. Dr O'keefe was shocked at what had been done to my nose, and stated that he didn't even understand what Dr Sellars could have done to it to result in the way it looked. In August 2011, Dr O'keefe performed a closed proceedure on it, only under local anaesthetic. He filed down the bridge, to make my side profile a little more normal, so there wasn't such a huge difference between the size of the top of my bridge and the tip, and pre-tip. He then tied a stitch in my septum, to pull in the two hemispheres of my septum, to narrow it a bit more again. He also performed an alar reduction, so my nostrils wouldn't appear so gaping open, like two caves. I was so relieved with the results, I actually looked somewhat normal. It wasn't so wide anymore, so the rest of the features on my face stood out a little again, such as my cheekbones, eyes and lips, I looked a bit more feminine again. Dr Okeefe suggested to give it a year, and come back then, and we'd decide whether to go ahead with further surgery or not. In February of this year, he performed one more procedure on my nose, this time under general. He performed a septoplasty to correct the deviation that Dr Sellars had created, and stitched in an alar rim graft, to bring some symetry to my uneven nostrils. He also re-draped the skin over my tip, as he thought the way Dr Sellars had draped it appeared unatural and contributed to the hanging collumellar appearance. I was happy with the results, it looks even better. However he was only able to do so much. My nose is still crooked, unfortunately, so the septoplasty was unsuccessful. I do still have some alar rim retraction, and my collumellar is still a little droopy. My tip still appears bulbousy compared to my original nose. It still swells, and goes bright red in warm weather, when I'm stressed, exercising, or eating hot/spicy foods. I'm OKAY with my appearance now. However there still isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about it. I still avoid having photo's taken of myself, as seeing myself is a painful reminder of the huge mistake I made. I still look less feminine and older somehow as a result of it. I cry often about it, I think I am in grief over it. It was the biggest mistake of my life. I have recently been doing some research in treatments for the redness/swelling that happens as a result of overheating and stress etc. I recently saw a skin specialist/dermatologist, and she inspected my nasal skin, and informed me that I have underlying rosaecia, but also, as a result of the surgery, have an extra blood vessel supply just under the skin, which would have developed during the healing process. I am now booked in for vascular laser therapy, which will get rid of the extra blood vessel supply just under my skin's surface. I can update you on the outcome if you are interested?

First off, I have to say this, rhinoplasty is them hitting you in the nose with mallet my friend woke up right when they were going to do this " the doctor said hit it harder " of course to break the nose. Rhinoplasty is blow to the head it is a head injury... okay plain and simple ....my ND told me that and two rhi noplasites are TWO HEAD INJURIES and this is not how we may be thinking at all but it comes with a RISK what if it changes brain functions I've thought about that ... Scar tissue natural solutions use castor oil pack with warm heating pad to get the oil in. and serrapatase DO NOT GET KENALOG the side effects are devastating you do not want to end up there.
I think Large noses I think add charcter to faces so their is no ugly you there is just beauty in all things and acceptance of what is ....
