All your posts have been very informative. My wife recently had her 2nd revision in 2 years. Proir to this she had a rhinoplasty 20 years ago.

The issue she has today is pain that comes and goes as if her nose is pulling to the right and loss of her breating sensations. In august of 2013 she had a Rhinoplasty that turned out well but she later incurred an abscess and tissue scarring. She had difficluty breathing. She had a 2nd revision approximatley 11 and 1/2 months later to remove the scarring and improve her breathling. It is now almost 4 months post 2nd operation and she still cannot sense the air entering her nose. Because of this, her anxiety has started get worse.

We are wonding if anyone of you experienced something similar after multiple revisions? HOw many revisions have you had? Do you sense the air entering into your nostrils? Did you have any pulling of the muscle? Is it really too early to tell. She is very worried and none of the doctors are giving her concrete answers except that it may take 12 months for everyt thing to heal.

Please share your experiences. We hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I had almost an identical experience. I thought I was going to lose one side of my nose. I found a integrative medicine doctor and got 40 grams of vitamin C through an IV once a week for 5 weeks. In addition I used DMSO on the tip of my nose. The swelling is completely gone now. My nose would change shape (swell or unswell) depending on the weather. After any surgery the best way to not get scar tissue is to heal as fast as possible. Take tons of vitamin C, a good multivitamin. stay away from smokers. get the swelling down fast.

Can you put pictures? At least, by covering your eyes, if you don't want to be recognized.

I know exactly what you're going through. ..i had rhinoplasty 18 years ago and have been rubbing my scar tissue every day since. ...hurts when i do it and my nose gets swollen but i can tell the scar tissue is finally almost gone, hopefully only a couple more months till its gone, ugh. 18 years and my nose will finally like normal! Scar tissue massage does work but it does take a while for it to go away. Came up to do this by myself, hope it works for you.

Hello Everyone, I know I'm really late here but I wanted to reach out because I know how miserable it can be to have a certain expectation about your nose, just to have it look as bad or worse than it did previously. I hope a few of you at least come back and get to see this. I had the problem of my nose looking GREAT right after surgery, then about a month later having that look slowly being ruined by swelling and scar tissue. I went through 6 steroid injections, but my doctor didn't want to go any higher than a 10cc shot so it never did much because the amount of scar tissue I had was enormous. The steroid injections would work for 3 weeks and continually decrease the size of the scar tissue but I would immediately begin growing additional scar tissue once the kenalog had worn off due to heat or physical activity. My turning point was when the doctor told me he would no longer give me injections and I would just have to wait for the scar tissue to go down normally. I saw it wouldn't go down because it kept getting BIGGER and BIGGER until my nose just looked like a big lump. It even changed the shape of my face it got so big. The same day the doctor told me I could no longer get injections, I thought about him saying scar tissue is very responsive to pressure and massaging. So I started massaging it pretty roughly once a day, I saw results but it was sooooooo slow, so I started twice a day, then three times etc. until I'm at the point where I am now, at about once every hour from the time I wake up until the time I go bed. There is no pain when I massage the scar tissue and I put a good amount of pressure on it. My scar tissue is almost completely gone and I'm beginning to feel the bone that my doctor shaved down under the scar tissue. I feel so much better about myself, it's night and day. My confidence is way up and my face is actually looking a lot more symmetrical. It has been a year and 3 months of me massaging, but if I knew what I know now, when I started, I honestly think everything would've been gone in 8-12 months. Before you start massaging, make sure you know it's scar tissue and not just swelling. Scar tissue will feel hard, almost like the bone, especially in the upper area of your nose by the bone. I had no work done around the tip nor did I have an implant, it was strictly shaving down bone and removing scar tissue from being hit so much. I'll be checking this message board for anyone who has questions. I know the mental strain and depression this issue causes and I wouldn't want anyone to go through that so I'll be checking back here to answer any questions and see where I can help out. These doctors tend to brush you off if you keep going back without getting a revision. This has worked for me tremendously and almost ALL the scar tissue is gone, I should be down to the bone with no scar tissue hopefully in a few months if this continues to work. Knock on wood.

My nose tip would swell up daily, but some days more than others for THREE YEARS !!! I tried every gadget out on the market and was ready to try Co2 Laser (which could have made it worse). FINALLY I tried a simple solution and bought OCEAN SALINE NASAL SPRAY and the swelling went down in a matter of a couple minutes. I use it first thing in the morning and once more through the day if needed. My swelling is now under control and I'm happy again. =D
Most like I had and Impaired lymphatic circulation associated with sinusitis or rhinitis. Saline Nasal Spray is non-addictive and okay to use as much as you desire. It solved my frustration with a swollen nasal tip !!!

My poor little life is now over, it has been four years and I am still sick and I think it was related to rhinoplasty somehow. I was a total fitness and health food fanatic
I had three rhinoplasties I should of stopped at the first one my nose looked fine
Being a perfectionist does not help in these matters we are always way more
critical regarding our bodies, than others will ever be.

The third rhinoplasty I wish I would of never ever done My nose came out perfect.
But , I was hit pretty hard to break my nose, the doctor never mentioned that he was going to break my nose. Following day I was sick then next day I literally felt like over my right eye there was crack in my skull there was so much pain I almost passed out from a fever. Every month i felt this pain over my right eye I know for a fact there is something wrong I had pain over my right eye where my brow is ever since that day of surgery I have been sick dizzy flu like ,and aching over my right eye sometimes I'm disabled . Because I feel sick, , My nose is perfect but my life is ruined I do not drive, work or anything . ..it has been four years. I've had two head MRI and a sinus infection showed up due to all the scar tissue and it was blocking drainage was cleaned out and by the way neti pot with distilled water sea salt, baking soda and I dab my qtip in tea tree oil and dab it quickly into the neti pot to clean out my sinuses this has caused my nose to not build up any scar tissue and still pain over my right eye. I seen many doctors I really do not know what to do ...perhaps this is fate, to just resign myself to live my life out in this isolated from the world sort of way
.Thank God for my family and husband . I cannot believe that my immaturity and vanity caused other people that I love to be effected by this and suffer
along with me

Serrapeptase is the one of the most powerful things for dissolve scar tissue. I emptied the contents into an organic cream I had mixed and applied it directly to the nose it dissolves scar tissue and it is effective I was amazed

That is why a professional guidance is must necessary before going for any surgical process. There are lot of different and also best professionals but trying to go to same doctor will get you in trouble as you already had bad experience with him. I had a nose surgery and seriously i am happy with their quality work which they do to make my nose better as i have swollen nose for the mean time but after that i see a perfect shape of my nose.

For anyone reading this who has excessive scar tissue after a rhinoplasty, DO NOT get a revision until you read this. I am a female who had a terrible build up of scar tissue in the tip of my nose after a rhinoplasty several years ago, creating a ski slope affect to my profile. It left me more self conscience than before the surgery. I spent days and nights crying wishing I could go back and never go through with the surgery. I felt humiliated to see family and friends. My doctor was of no help, and said anytime I asked him why the scar tissue wasn't going down "some people just heal differently, just give it more time." I could go on and on about how terrible my surgeon was when it came to post op, but I want to focus this post on a method I found to get rid of the scar tissue naturally. 6 or so months post op my surgeon finally gave in and did steroid injections, those helped a little but he refused to do more than two. After 3 years of my doctor telling me he wouldn't do anymore steroid injections, and that I shouldn't consider a revision because I looked "fine" and I should just "give it more time" I decided I'd had enough of him. I researched day and night to find a natural way to get rid of the build up of scar tissue. I put his medical degree to shame by finding a way to heal myself naturally with the help of the internet and prayer as my guide.

The miracle solution I found is acupuncture! Having acupuncture needles placed into the area with built up scar tissue has caused the scar tissue to go down significantly. Within the first visit I could see and feel improvement. Depending on the amount of scar tissue you have, it may take many sessions to completely remove all of it. As of now I have completed almost 6 weeks of 30 minute acupuncture sessions 1-2 times a week, and WOW the improvement. It's gone from being rock hard to squishy and normal again. Every time I go, there is significant improvement made. There are still a few parts of the tip that are hard, but it's improved 80-90%, I no longer have the ski slope affect in my profile AND it has faded the scar left from the incision (which was an added bonus!) I go to a trusted chiropractor who has been trained in acupuncture as well. He was very understanding when I told him what needed to be done. He places 9-10 needles throughout the tip of my nose and I lay like that for 15 minutes, then he comes back in and twists the needles and I lay there for another 15 minutes. During the session (especially after he twists the needles) I'll see a heavy pulse in the tip of my nose, which is blood being directed there to begin the healing process. When he removes the needles sometimes there will be blood, but usually not very much. Pain wise, expect for it to sting when he puts the needles in and when he takes them out, especially after many sessions because you'll begin to get more feeling in it once it's beginning to heal! BUT THE RESULTS ARE WORTH THE 30 SECONDS OF PAIN when the needles are put in and taken out, trust me. I hate needles and this is nothing compared to the pain you feel looking in the mirror with all that built up scar tissue staring at you. My doctor will also place the needles in areas to help relieve stress, I don't know if that helps with stress but it helps disguise the real reason I'm there in case any other patients or employees were to see me. Just a suggestion in case you are embarrassed to be seen with a bunch of needles in your nose.

There is absolutely no other material on the internet about this, believe me I spent hours each day researching how to remove scar tissue from the body. All I could find on plastic surgery sites and blogs like this was steroid injections or revision, NOTHING ELSE. It was so frustrating and disheartening, but I refused to believe I couldn't fix it on my own. I prayed for help to know what I could do, and after a few weeks of research I decided to give acupuncture a try. Even though I'd never read anywhere that it could be used as a healing method after rhinoplasty, I figured it was worth a shot because it's used after other surgeries to remove scar tissue, why wouldn't it work for my nose. Literally an answer from God. It's a night and day difference.

I'm sharing this because I felt so alone and embarrassed after the surgery. I felt I had no where to turn for a solution, my own doctor didn't care enough to even mention steroid injections! I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I've gone through to get to this point. It's a lonely, depressing journey, and it's finally feeling like it's coming to an end. THIS WILL WORK, don't wait any longer to try it!

Sincerely, God is good
