Hi, I also had an appointment for 4 PM today EST. I decided to do some last minute checking online, just because... what I saw made me cancel my appointment right away. I am 43 years old, and my period has been getting worse in terms of pain and blood flow, especially this past month. I admit I may have acted in haste in scheduling this procedure without doing any research especially using keywords such as "reviews, pain, after effects.. etc". I feel so bad for the women who are suffering the pain from this procedure, I admit my doctor's blase attitude to my decision and his responses should have put me on guard but I wanted the painful period to stop so I was willing to ignore my gut feeling. I will be exploring other options, notably herbs and lots of teas... there must be another way out of the painful maze.
I had this procedure done when I was 38 I am now 44. Putting some of the side effects aside it is the best thing I have ever done. I had 2 children before the age of 30. My entire life I put up with the worse bleeding. It was debilitating! After bleeding everyday during my 30's I decided this was the best option for me. All I can say is that it gave me my life back!! Yes some weight gain but that is only fault of my own. As you age you slow down and when you slow down you gain weight. We always want to blame something but this truly gave me my life back. I would do it all over again!
Had procedure April 2013. All went well but now whenever I get the "symptoms" of my cycle the pain is a little more intense and I experience major bloating that feels like a really bad case of gas. It gets so bad to the point the clothing is tight and I can barely stand up straight. It passes after the slight bleeding that I experience each month starts but is very painful. Thank God only lasts about 2 days. Will discuss with my doctor on next visit.
Hello I am 42 and I recently had the Novasure Ablation...8/23/2013 . during the first week I though it was great. But then I had sex with my husband (waited the proper time they told me) wait 10 days. Which we were very careful. After 2-4 hours passed...I got bloated, and started getting pain in my pelvic area...48 hours later I was really bloated with SEVERE pain in my pelvic and lower abdomen with sharp shooting pain shooting into my groin and down my inner right pelvic area, I called my doctor's office (Saturday morn). I could not believe the excruciating pain and bloating and I felt as if I was getting a fever..oh and my uterus felt heavy..I felt like i had a weight in the front of my lower stomach.. My husband bought me the test strips for UTI just to see if I was fighting an infection. The strip came out positive for Nitrate and the other (don't remember what it's called) but it showed I had a slight UTI...and when I talked to the nurse who answered from my ob/gyn's office said it sounded like a bladder infection., especially with my pain symptoms I described to her and dark yellow urine. I started Cipro antibiotics..and was on bedrest.I was feeling better within 48 hours, but walking VERY slowly...I could tell I needed healing time, but completely over it...swelling and all after 8 days, Six weeks (Oct 6) post op...I did a quick wipe after urinating, and noticed a sucher on the toilet paper.but I didn't think anything of it...now at this point my husband and I put sex off...then Oct 8 which is 6 weeks out of post op so with my husband for a 2nd time...then a few hours later here I go again..The bloating begins...the pain...some pink....I called the doctor's office again...told the nurse I needed to see the doctor A.S.A.P. set an appt. I told her about the sucher that came out of me. I told her I've always known Novasure doesn' t require suchers..Why the suchers? She said according to the report I must have had uncontrollable bleeding. I told her why didn't the doctor tell me or my husband right after i came out of surgery? She didn't know...anyhow...I made my appt. but it was 6 days away 10-15-2013..by the end of Day 9 I was in tears...with extreme bloating...the pain was gradually coming on stronger.....now there were some times where I got into forums and some women said they had trapped gas/bloating after the Novasure...so I took it upon myself to take some peppermint (Shaklee's "stomach soothing complex") which helps with bloating & gas. Which I don't know why I needed to try something for the bloating...As it was I was barely eating anything. But I felt the more I belched the better I felt. Then by 2 am the pain subsided a by so much.My strong opinion is IF you are 40 to 46 I say DON"T do it!!! Go with nature take the heavy periods during the peri menopausal time...This pain is NOT worth it. MY pain causes me to shake and deep breathes and does make me want to stay laying down. I had pain before but NOW I hurts even MORE. Let nature take it course. Take natural progesterone cream when it comes to the bloating. Which to me was not as bad as it is now. Comparison. God bless you in making your decision. And as for a hyterectomy...DON"T do that...85% of all women regret it at 40-58 especially when your still active w/your husband, it affects your sex life, no feeling in the labial area, which mean no orgasms..They say another side affect can which is common is "vaginal collapse"..kinnda like a pocket coming out of a pant/jean...and for that I suggest you do your research. I did mine...and I would never do a hysterectomy unless cancer was involved. But I also heard of the "Manchester Procedure" which is not common but an excellent alternative to hysterectomy. Research it.
I have a quick question. So many of you have had the Novasure procedure....but, have any of you had hydrothermal ablation? Thanks! :)
Hi all well I soooo wish I had found this sight 2-3 years ago.
I had the novasure ablation done December 2013 biggest mistake of my life!!!! I was poorly and on antibiotics for some 6 weeks after then everything started to settle down, I thought yaaaay things are starting to get better, how wrong was I. April14 came periods was as and when they pleased with the pain like child birth or worse every time, then this left sided pain appeared I'm May 14 I was admitted to hospital where lots of different things was suggested kidneys migrated clip from sterelization bladder but in all honesty they did not have a clue. Eventually my g.p referred me to a gynecologist who told me 25% of patients can end with pain for life post novasure ablation and the only option is a hysterectomy ! So at a age of 35 I now have had a hysterectomy all because of a stupid procedure that is suppose to help us women not cause us deliberating pain for life, it made me very poorly and was affecting my quality of life in every way
Best of luck to you!
:-) Shawn
Wow, ladies! Why argue?
Just to share - I suffered since I was 10 years of age with severe pain and bleeding related to endo. After nearly 15 D and C day surgeries, it did not make sense to continue doing this only to get 1-3 month relief from symptoms. At the age of 32 and after "begging" doctors to do something for me as my bleeding would not stop for 9 months, I finally had my ablation. This was 4 years ago and I feel that I am like a new person. No more pain, no more bloating, no more bleeding or periods, no more emotional melt downs related to pain, no more mood swings, no more weight gain related to water retention. I lost 26 lbs without changing diet or exercising, I feel great. I continue using birth control as pregnancy would be risky if at all possible after this procedure, but I feel like million bucks. I thank my Doctor, one and only person that asked what I wanted. I have seen many after this and no one asked what I wanted, no one tried to understand how much suffering I had for over 20 years because of this horrible disease, Endometriosis. I would do it right this minute again if I had to do the same procedure again. They say it's effective in 80 percent of patients and one should know within 1-2 months if surgery was success. I count my lucky stars every day. Thank you Dr. Oliver.
