Anyone have a habit of drinking water or any other liquids close to the time you fall asleep? I noticed this only occurs when I do so, and for me the more I have dank the wider the pain spreads once I've awoken on my back i immediately need to pee, but on my side is no big deal

I've had a similar pain for about 6 months. Amoxicillin helped a little. Another antibiotic didn't work at all. An endoscopy found nothing. A colonoscopy found nothing. Omeprazole didn't help. No upset stomach meds worked. I was at the end of my rope. I finally said, what the heck, and tried an abdominal binder and my pain almost went away completely. I know I haven't fixed the problem, just the symptom, but at least I can sleep until my next doctor's visit. I'm not sure if the overall problem would be a Duodenal Ulcer but I'll mention it to my primary doctor.
I have 100% the same thing y'all have. I'm 22 and have been experiencing this since I was probably 14 or 15. My mom has described the same symptoms, which makes me think it is genetic. I live a healthy and active lifestyle, so I don't believe this is a product of bad habits or unhealthy living. My 2 cents on household remedies for this is try sleeping in a hammock. Something about the way the hammock curves the back instead of flat out like a bed does the trick for me. Sounds crazy, but many people, esp. in third world countries, sleep exclusively in hammocks. When I do sleep in a bed, sleeping curled in a ball helps keep the pain away. Sleeping flat on my back is where I experience the most pain.
I didn't know this was something other people are dealing with also! Maybe one day the doctors will figure out what the hell it is. Till then, it's the hammock for me.

I also have this problem - I only wake up late at night with very bad stomach pains and it usually feels better if I lie on my back. Lying on my side makes it worse. I have also been making more poos than is usual for me, almost like everything I eat is just passing through my body.
Get a Ct scan immediately

I agree. I've been having these same symptoms for over 8 years. Wake up in the middle of the night with a soreness in my stomach that causes me to toss and turn. It keeps me up all night. When I finally get up in the morning and im upright it dissapears. Only happens at night. I went to a GI doc 8 years ago and he had no answers. Im slightly overweight. BMI 5 to 6% over what it should be. Anyway a couple of years back I started eating less due to trying to lose a few pounds and get healthy. I noticed that it significantly helped with the night pains. I attribute it to what is being eating and how much. Sad we have to self diagnose and know one can get answers on what seems to be a common "undiagnosed" ailment. I honestly think it could be also gas related. When I pass has I feel a slight temporary relief. Also in the morning I have a lot of gas whenever I've had an evening of really bad night pains. Standing up is the only relief...so weird

Great site. I'm a newbie to this. Last night was night number 3. Very consistent at 1:30 am for me after being in bed since 10. While a diagnosis would be nice, this site actually made me feel much better. Same symptoms, starts in my upper right quadrant and increases in intensity until I sit up, and in 30-45 minutes feel great and back to sleep.
i am exactly the same had it a while now 5-6 hours is the most sleep i get
every time i get up and think i need to pee but when i go i only have a small one and either trump or beltch
i wonder if its to do with bad bacteria .every time i eat i pass wind or beltch

Check into illeocecal valve malfunction. I have the same pain in lower right, directly between belly button and hip bone each night. I cannot sleep on right side. Only left.
The ONLY thing that took it away completely was chiropractic adjustments, which I was VERY hesitant to even try. The spine has nerves that run out and control your body. If the nerve controlling the ICV is pinched due to misaligned spine, it doesn't send the signals to open and close the valve.
My doctor didn't even know what it was. After many many tests, internal ultrasound, blood, CT Scan, MRI, etc, they found nothing.
I began researching online in the night and found many ICV forums of people with EXACT symptoms I have.

Within the last month, I also would be awaken at night about 3 to 4 hours after going to bed at around midnight in my right abdominal area with an urge to pee and moving my bowel. Once I got up and moved about, the pain would subside. I have IBS and my doctor had prescribed Libra which when I took one before bedtime seemed to alleviate the pain. However, my insurance does not think it's an effective drug and does not pay and I have to pay out of pocket of $135 for 60 capsules from Walmart pharmacy which is the cheapest against CVS's over $200, I think it was $235 for 60 capsules. I was told to take as needed for pain. It does have some side effect as dry mouth and constipation and sleepiness for some people and can be habit forming also. Hope this helps . Good luck.
I have had pains in my solar plexus for over 5 years. I have been on every pill and nothing seems to work. I have been through a whole group of tests nothing has shown anything. I have an inclined bed. It doesnt help that much. I changed diet, quantity and types of foods. I have been told it caused by tiredness. But I can't sleep because of pain. I do Reiki andJSJ . I have heard it is caused through worry. I have worked on not doing that. One day at a time. Been successful. It doesn't help. I have one or two nights no pain. I can't figure out why there was none. I didn't do any thing different.I will try the yoga stretches and somebody said heat or cold. I have massaged the area too. The only thing that works is sitting up right for at least half hour. I only get another two hours sleep then have to get up. Please help I am tired. Someone suggested going to a sleep place to see if they can pick up anything. Hope someone finds a easy solution. I was starting to feel it is a muscle pain.
I have a similar problem, and it occurs mostly at night around 3am most times the pain is intense I have to go the toilet. Yet my problem seems unsolved.
