Hi, I have extremely good reasons for giving up smoking, family history of lung cancer and still I’m not giving up smoking. I need some good advices on giving up smoking.
First, you need to be aware of your reasons for giving up. I suppose you don’t actually realize consequences of your behavior. There will be other benefits apart from health improvements. When you quit smoking there will be other positive effects like financial, just try to find out how much you will be saving when you stop smoking. Stopping smoking will make you more attractive to women, they don’t like stinky cigarette smell. People around you will be less exposed to smoke and will show their appreciation. You will become proud of yourself, as you will discover you can do anything you wish and you can control your behaviour.
A brand new drug is being marketed under the brand name "Chantix". It works by blocking the nicotinic receptor in the CNS, or in Plain English: it reduces craving and as one of my customers puts it" it made cigarette taste a lot worse".
You usually take it for a month, and then a second course is o.k if you still need it for another month.
So far, I had two different sets of couples on it, and they both had some very positive feed back. Good luck.

I smoked for about 10 years. My husband never did, he hated that I did. My mom passed do to emphysema and COPD. I knew how bad it was that I smoked but I never though about it. One day I was getting ready to go outside and smoke ( I never smoked in the house) and my husband asked me to do something and I got irritated because I wanted that cigarette. He got mad at me and was like what are you in such a hurry to kill yourself for? I don't know why but that was a real slap in the face. I knew how bad it was but hearing him say that really hit me. I decided to quit and I did. It wasn't easy at all. I didn't use any medicine. I just used main over matter. You have to really want to quit to be able to do it. Every time I wanted one I would ask myself if I wanted it enough to die for it. The answer was never yes. I guess just reminding myself what it does to you before I would smoke helped put it in perspective.
