Hey, Ive been a casual smoker for about 3 years. When I first starting using it, I felt bad pain in my throat, my buzz was mostly concentrated on the pain. My legs felt twitchy and I'm pretty much a sensitive person when it comes to narcotics, aspartame (causes head-aches), sleep etc. For the past three years or so I have been having chronic bronchitis and I believe weed has something to do with it. For a year or so I have been experiencing allergies, which I have never had before. My nose gets clogged up and I spit transparent mucus a lot. I have decided to quit using for professional purposes and health issues. My solution to all of it for the last year or so was to make keif and smoke it out of a water bong. This helped a lot, less allergy problems and you have to smoke far less to get a descent high. I was making some today for a buddy of mine and I started to have a runny nose and my arms and eyes started to itch. I then realized some red plaques forming under my eye which is new to me. (like if I'd burnt myself) That's when I decided to look it up. I read a few posts about anxiety, panic attacks, blushing etc. I've had all of those symptoms in the past, due to not having smoked in months and especially very potent stuff, skunk, master kush you name it. I blame it on the inexperienced smokers, be patient don't expect an instant high right after a puff, wait 15 minutes or so and then take another hit if you feel the need. (this isn't for casual smokers) I have watched a few videos that might interest you guys about marijuana, less on the allergenic side but you guys might enjoy the information also want to mention, some weed depending on their levels of indica/sativa content may vary the effects (body/mind). I have been working out for several years and have noticed some strange effects. I do not smoke 12 hours prior to my workout sessions due to the relaxing effect on the muscle that THC does. I have noticed that some indica strains smoked after a workout will sometimes bring unwanted joint/tendon pains after certain workouts. Which I find good. The thing is whenever I overloaded on the weights I wasn't noticing that I was demanding a lot to my body, the indica just totally pinpointed where I went wrong, especially my wrists tendons(straight barbell curls) which sometimes I put abnormal stress by using these straight bars. Made me think twice before doing certain exercises, such as bad back forms in some exercises. One of my friends actually told me that I was the first guy to understand his pain. (which is why he had stop using marijuana because of chronic back pain). You won't here this often because people tend to cover up marijuana as being medicinal etc but you have to know what suits for you (strains), If your lucky enough to choose what you buy. I had never heard about people being allergic to THC, I believe it's a dosage problem, prove me wrong, I will be glad to discuss about it. When you are not a casual or haven't smoked in a month or so, you should not mix with alcohol, the effects of marijuana and alcohol get very unpleasant and disturbing. I believe alcohol shouldn't be mixed with anything. I have never been a casual drinker so I cannot refer my experience apart from those bad alcohol+marijuana. Since I have smoked regularly, apart from the mucus forming and bronchitis issues I wanted to point out that my worse enemy for my health is cigarette. I quit a 30$/h job because of it. too much smoking around me literally made me sick. My lungs get swollen, my eyes itch, my nose runs. I have no clue if marijuana smoking has brought me to be so allergic to cigarette. I cannot stay in a room where someone smokes cigarettes for more than 15 minutes, my lungs cant take it, the next day when I wake up, I can hear my lungs screeching and I can hardly breathe(never smoked cigarettes). I wish I had never smoked (weed) in first place. I guess mushrooms were a gateway drug for me ( my first buzz) which brought me to try marijuana a month or so after trippin'. I am glad to be sober now =) wish you all luck hope this post helped you out. If you want to discuss the topic :

pretty sure thats some anxiety man, theres actually tonssssssssssss of reports and people saying weed increased theyre anxiety, and some people saying they never had anxiety but now do after smoking a lot. I started smoking way more than you should seeing as how my core best friends were all dealers selling just to smoke for free, so i would smoke their profit with them when i first started, and like, i always had a teeny tiny bit of anxiety barried underneath somewhere, but after smoking a lot, it basically stepped out of my subconcious and punched me in the face. (went from mild to moderate) and i tell you dude, it was an awful feeling. I was so emotionally stressed that my hair was falling out. So yeah i can relate to that little moment of worry and then that worry just kinda spiralling out of reality. Its some anxiety, and depending on how succeptable to it, it can definitely effect that

Your anxiety isn't an allergic reaction.... the anxiety is just you having a panic attack from smoking pot. It's preeeeetty simple. Just don't smoke weed if you're like that, because it can make you paranoid. If you're allergic to it, you'll get a swollen throat, watery itchy eyes, and a runny stuff nose for the most part. I get allergies from handling pot, I don't get any from smoking.
Main point of my post is - STOP OVERLOOKING ANXIETY. It's not an allergic reaction, it's just anxiety. No need to over think it.
ALSO - did no one read what this guy said? He said he hasn't tried it and didn't know. So stop telling him to stop smoking it.. HE HASN'T EVEN STARTED. Yeeeeesh. You guys should READ posts.

Unfortunately if you have an anaphylaxic reaction to the inhalation of the THC into your lungs, then yes, you could die from asphyxiation. I know as I was rushed to the hospital after trying one toke due to lungs shutting down and not able to breath. Allergies to pot are more common then one would think. They have just recently started running tests to see how common it is. I have to let doctors and hospitals know that I am allergic as I cannot even take the pill form of THC and I cannot use anything that has Hemp in it.

I smoked heavily from 12-14 and then even heavier from 14-32 at which point my lungs became super sensitive, they would close up on me if I took bong hits. I tried using Marinol Pills (Pharmaceutical THC Pills for post Chemo Nausea), they made me have the same reaction in my lungs. Intensive investigation determined I had developed congestive heart failure, the doctor told me that the lungs closing up were not part of the heart failure but fluid backing up was definitely part of it. In short, the reason I developed CHF was because MJ causes the heart to not properly measure the Oxygen Level in the blood, therefore it works harder than it should. Another patient I talked to had gone through a heart attack after smoking weed, the MD confirmed this and told me that many people come in the office for post M.I followups with the cause of the MI being the heart overworking itself from smoking weed. Per the NORML website most people who have heart attacks and smoke week will have a heart attack within 3 hours of smoking unlike regular MIs which may or may not be related to exertion. For anyone with heart problems, try a beta-blocker and it will prevent your heart from flipping out when there is not enough oxygen (or it thinks there's not since you smoked). A good idea is atenolol since is tells the heart to disregard the oxygen levels, the mechanism by how it works to reduce the BP is the opposite of what MJ does.

If you pay close attention to your body you can prevent a reaction like this from happening. I went from an occational/casual smoker for 5 years, to smoking dank weed and hash every day. Stupidest thing to do. Each time the high got worse and worse. I just chalked it up to paranoia, so don't make that mistake. I'm not saying everyone who gets paranoid is allegic, the paranoia just makes is difficult to realize you are actually having a physical reaction also. With each high the symptoms you have will get worse so stop smoking as soon as they pop up. You can't just suddenly make a change it overwhelms the body. Too much of anything can be harmful.
I didn't pay attention to my body as closely as I should. I figure if you give the body a good break for at least 4 months and try smoking again, your body might correct the problem. Course you should probably think about getting weaker strains. Don't smoke weed that makes a major everyday smoker retarded lol

Marinol is 100% SYNTHETIC THC. Rubbing that on your skin wont give you the answer you seek and at $80 for 10 pills not a good use of money.

Hey guys. There is lots of people posting their problems, but not so many solutions. I am allergic to mj, have scratched it on my arm that caused hives and I get a runny nose, sore throat and a slight heavy chest. I did read someone state that different strains will cause you to have more or less severe problems as someone else posted. This seems to be true for me because different strains give me different degree of problems. I also use allergy medicine which is really good. Use pills and nasal spray. Find some allergy medicine that works for you. I use loratodine and a nasal spray with levocabastinum. Also clean your hands after handling the stuff and dont keep it out in the open so that all the particles can fly around. I also keep down consumption to weekends. If your problems are severe it probably wont be enough though. Good luck!

I have benn allergic to MJ for most of my 53 yrs of life. I had the disadvantage AND joy of growing up in the Haight/Ashbury during the 60's. My parents and Dr's assumed I had athsma. Hives, swollen throat, swollen eyes, wheezing. Keep in mind each attack is worse than the one before. Once I left the area the attacks stopped. Now many years later back in San Francisco, I have reached my threshold for attacks. No more outdoor concerts, nightclubs with people out smoking, I cross the street when I catch the hint of weed, AND i must always carry an EPI Pen..that may or may not work the next time. I feel for folks with cancer and other maladies but in San Francisco people are smoking weed for no apparent reason than to get high. I do not like that high. Anaphalactic shock is no joke..been there done that. short answer..go Epi it may at least get you to the hospital.
