I have had tgat for years and now it is fixed. I couldn'd sleep. I always had one nostal bloked at 4 in tge morning both side were compleltly close off. So after many years thtee doctor that percribe cortizone spays and did alergie test and nothing work. I read on the internet that is was not because my nose is congested or alergic to something but it is enlarged turbinates. Those are skin like flaps or bumps in the nose that usualy filters what you breath. In these bumps there are many blood vessle and when you lye down they will fill up with blood on the side that you are sleeping on. So if you lie down on your left side your left nostral will block and you lie on your right side your right nostral will block. You can actualy feel the blood draining from one side to the other. Now i found a doctor that does a procedure that takes 10 min on either side. The doctor uses radio wave sound weird i know but thes waves burns those large turbinates and coterizes them at the same time reducing the turbinates size. After it takes a good month and a half to heal but well worth it in the end.
I has that. It is yoir turbinated that fill up with blood there for blocking your nose. It happens when you lie down. I had it fixed it is an easy 10 min procedure with a doctor that uses radiowave that reduces the turbinates by burning ans cottorizes at the same time. It take a good month to heal after but well worth it. You can beath normally after that at night
Namaste, you're joking about Canada concerned with health and the quality of life right??!! I'm Canadian and can clearly see this is not the case. In western European countries they won't allow GMO'S in the food and citizens come first NOT PROFIT like here and the US. You should investigate prisons and even what kids are given for school cafeteria food. You're very naiive.
I suffer from the same blockage issues most people here have mentioned. If I sleep on my right side, my left nasal passage becomes clear & the right becomes blocked. I also get a bloody nose very easily.
I believe my condition comes from have an upper molar root canal. Last year my root canal had to be retreated because it got infected. The endo took scans of the tooth & the root canal & he said I bet you have frequent sinus issues. I said absolutely. The root canal over time on upper molar root canals will erode through the sinus wall, which is a very thin layer of bone, & into the sinus cavity causing sinus issues. After my root canal was retreated I found it to relieve most of my issues....but over time the issues are creeping back into my life. I can only assume that the filling is breaking down of something & this will be something I'll always have to deal with.

I just started dealing with this about 3-4 months ago, I'm 46. First symptom was ringing in my ears - basically I'm breathing out through my nose, and the side that is obstructed forces the air to push towards the ear.
So far I have confirmed that I have a deviated septum and the smaller of the passages is where the effect is most severe. When its irritated I cant breathe through that side even when standing up. Cool air seems to help, as does irrigation with salt water; just be careful not to let too much blood flow to your head - the solution wont be able to penetrate then. I also take a sinex nighttime capsule just before I sleep and that gives me 6-8 hours of glorious sleep. I've tried a few other things to no avail. I also noticed the phlegm is white and very sticky, unlike anything I can recall before. Also, my doctor initially recommended an antibiotic (amoxocillan) which did seem to help with the condition. The ENT dismissed it as the placebo effect.
Good luck to all, with our health care system we are going to need it. Very little competence out there.

I had septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery 2 years ago and it did NOT help with this issue! SURGERY PEOPLE! It was nasty. And I'm still left with this same problem which is now worse. Seemed better initially after surgery, until healing was complete then it resumed. I'm at my wits end!
i'm a sufferer. blockage moves to the lower nostril. I went for sleep apnia testing, and found the tester to totally disregard my symptom... so I gave up on cpap immediately, as it caused additional dis comfort... Now tried propping up bed head with thick book under each leg.. has definiely reduced the symtom. Also trying saline nasal spray.. As i sit here, I don't ever remember breathing so easily.... Decongestion always occured to some extent on sitting/standing... but this is great.... will be attempting to increase the bed head inclination, and continue saline spray.. I have had my sensativity awareness raised, so am now hypersensative to my breathing slowing down... not sure if this is now related to brain not telling me to breathe...
PS just for the record I'm 70 years old...
I was considering that procedure, but after reading reviews I am very skeptical...
Same here the more humid the weather the worse it is. Sometimes when breathing through my nose it feels burnt
Percy07 here again. The elevation of the bed has helped.

I have exactly the same problems as you
What did you do about your apnea?
What did you do about your apnea?
u will lose sense of smell.
Has anyone actually found any cure for this. It is such a pain to live with. I am not sure about surgery, it will be nice if more people write reviews if the surgery helped. I also have tried everything the nasal sprays don't help me either. I got referred to ENT but the doctor said going for surgery wont make a huge difference so that put me off.
Me too! Hoping for answers.
