You may have Type 2 Diabetes or a Thyroid problem. Ask your Doctor to check you out. Very simple tests.

I have the same issues of insatiable hunger and tiredness.  I haven't gained a significant amount of weight, but that's because I exercise a lot (which is a struggle).  I know that stress plays a major factor, but other than that I have no idea what's wrong with my body.  It's weird because they say that you should feel more awake and relieve stress when you work out, but I am the opposite.  After exercising I am exhausted and often go take a nap right away and I don't feel any less stressed (if anything I feel more stressed because the time I use to exercise takes away from time for school work).  Also, I've tried the water thing and it might last for 20 min, but in the end I am truly hungry and water will never be able to satisfy that hunger.  I'm a bit of a hypochondriac so I've talked to my doctor and been tested for most common disorders, and my test results always come back normal.  I take Ridalin--which should significantly decrease my appetite and wake me up.  But, I am actually more hungry now on the medication than I was before.  And my alertness is better, but still lacking.  Things don't work for me like they work for others :( I don't get it. I'm exercising 6 days a week and have a decent diet, yet I look no better than I did when I ate fast food at 2 am and exercised twice a month.  And I'm always bloated -__- HELP!

I believe the best way to handle this is to just simply cut back on eating, whether you get hungry or not just don't go for the snack's. if it's not possible, i suggest shopping at wholesale like sams club where you can find a bunch of fattening foods in a bult quantity for your fat lazy butt's to eat. just eat and sleep and soon noone will want to look at you. or you can do something about it, it's simply called, talk to your doctor.

wow you are an ignorant fool. don't you have some kids left on the playground you would like to bully. Troubled childhood i bet.

You ignorant ass- I am an athlete, a coach, and a size 6. What a trifling life you must lead to take the time to search problems that don't concern you and put messages (with horrible grammar) on discussion boards that have nothing to do with you. I suggest you get a friend.

I can eat like 4 granola bars and 3 packs of crackers and still be hungry I guess. It's not hunger but I just don't feel full and want to eat. And no matter how much I eat I never get full.

I can almost garantee that it is not thyroid but, rather, adrenals.  Adrenals will cause all of these symptoms and will mimic thyroid.  A holistic doctor can treat with licorice root and/or adrenal dessicated or drenamin.  These whole food suppliments cured my symptoms. I had been to doctors for years and even began having symtoms of arthritis and fibromyalgia and unable to lose weight at 33.  The common triggers are anti-depressents and hormone shots/BC.  Between the holistic doctor and taking regular, pure vitamins from a company I now work for, I am a normal person again.

Has anyone considered sleep apnea? either obstructive or central? Im a 34 yr old woman in australia and have been extremely fatigued and contsantly hungry for 12 yrs. Got diagnosed with central sleep apnea in january. Using cpap machine every night and hunger is now under control. Had type 2 diabetes and has improved significantly along with weight loss and i now crave healthy food instead of sugar and fat. Got to lose at leasy 30 kgs which has been very upseting and depressing. Not enough energy still but it takes time. Plus i have chronic severe widespread pain and other sleep disorders like parasomnia that i hope will rectify itself. Terrifying!! Take a look at the symptoms. Central is rare but thats what i have. Only got checked after mum spent the night and noticed i wasnt breathing in my sleep. If a doc wont listen get a 2nd opinion. It could change your life. I wish u all the best.

I am a 32 year old man, I am a computer programmer and I have been suffering from some of the same symptoms mentioned in this forum. I have always been relatively slender my whole life around 180 lbs but over the course of the last 2 years I have gained weight almost uncontrollably, now I have to spend all of what little free time I have in the gym or running just to keep my weight in check. I am aware that the human metabolism will slow down around my age, so I just chalked it up to that but for the last few months I have found myself falling asleep by accident more and more until it is almost a daily occurance , even after a full nights sleep I would catch myself nodding off at work. The final straw came today when one moment I am in my office at the computer writing code and the next thing I know my cheek is on the keyboard and a co-worker is nudging me asking if I am alright, this was way more than nodding off this was full on asleep for the better part of an hour... I think. I have no idea what can be causing this but now it is starting to really frighten me not to mention threaten my livelihood, I am just lucky it was a friend today and not a supervisor. If this sounds familiar to anyone, please share some direction. Thank you for your time.

I'm a 15y/o female and I have the same problem, however I'm not sure if it's different as I am significantly younger. Does anyone know if it is the same or different?

I'm not really sure if anyone's said anything about this - and please excuse me if I have, but I have also had these same problems. Especially the weight gain. It might be a good idea to get your Vitamin D levels checked if you're constantly tired, hungry, and perhaps even depressed. I know that I always had this awful fatigue and this hungry that I just couldn't satisfy - and when I was diagnosed with a deficiency of Vitamin D, and prescribed the medication, the symptoms went away within a few days. :)

This sounds like an overactive thyroid to me!
If you are tired and hungry then go see your doctor. The most likely cause is an overactive thyroid, an unbalanced diet or even just stress. However, there are other causes such as parasites, stomach bugs and diabetes that can cause tiredness and excessive hungry so make sure you tell your doctor!
