A 46 year-old man from Russia, inspired by the stuntman and illusionist David Blaine, who fasted for 44 days in 2003, decided to do a little bit of fasting himself. He decided to set a new world record and decided to go without food for 50 days.

Agasi Vartanyan, from around St. Petersburg began his “journey” on Aug. 27 and managed to go without food for exactly 50 days. He was drinking around 0.8 gallons of water a day and entertained himself by watching television, listening to radio, and talking on his cell phone.

After the fast had finished, the doctors who examined the man evaluated that he had lost 51 pounds during his quest. He is planning on submitting the documents of his attempt to the Guinness Book of World Records.
What makes him angry is that his efforts went undetected and that no media took interest in the whole event except the local media.
