My dad died at age 60, shortly(few months) after semi-retiring.
And my mom hasn't worked since the early 50's.

My dad retired when he was 55 (he's 67 now), but he and my mom promptly bought a little store. They are now officially retired, they closed the store in December. Unfortunately, they won't enjoy it too much, my dad is pretty sick now.

My Dad is not working, although technically not retired either. Orkin Pest Control got rid of their entire program in the Dakota's last fall, so at age 60, he's out of work. Doesn't seem to mind though.

Mom is still working.

My dad passed away 16 years ago, aged 55 :( .

My mum is 62 and kind of retired. She gave up selling real estate last year, rented out her house and went to the UK on a working holiday for 6 months. She worked through an agency as a live in companion help, working about 2 weeks out of 4, travelling the other weeks or spending time with my little brother who lives in London. She is now back home for our summer, dividing her time between our place (and doing a mighty fine job looking after us), my brothers place and the beach. She is going back to the UK for another 6 months in April, and plans to continue this lifestyle for a few years yet 8) .

My dad's retirement consisted of moving to Arizona and building a house on a ranch. Besides some medical problems over the past several years he began working again by creating and patenting some products for industrial and commercial uses. He will be 70 this year and I don't see him slowing down.

My mom passed away the same year as Pebbs dad.
She was 52 at the time.

My father and step-mother are retired. He retired in June and she retired yesterday. I am desperately trying to get them to move out here. I told them they won't ever have to cut the grass, clean out their gutters, shovel snow, or scrape ice from the windshield in below freezing weather. They will be out here for a few weeks in April and that may convince them.

My mother and step-father still work, though they are already making retirement plans.
