I'm 14 years old and I told my parents that ingot an uneven chest and we went to the doctors,
The doctor said I have to wear this brace.
While I'm wearing the braces,it pushes back my bigger chest when I breath in.
My parents won't let me do surgery because I won't be normal anymore and if theirs another way they would take that way and refused to do a surgery.

I feel and do the same things. I'm 30. My left pec is bigger. I've always been a hard worker, outgoing, fun, outspoken; just a happy person. Ever since I've noticed my problem I have basically shut down. My life has changed dramatically. Every time I even step outside or talking to someone, I'm constantly worried about my chest and what they're thinking. It consumes my every thought. I'm exhausted by it. I've tried a lot of different things to do. I'm to the point now that I would just be happy if I could find a way of just accepting it and make it my own. But it's just not happening. I just want to be mentally and physically happy. Any suggestions?

I am a female and in the last six months I began hurting in my left rib area with some thoracic pain - I went to my dr and he didn't physically examine me but sent me for x-rays - report was all is fine - I continued to have excruciating pain in my left ribs radiating from from to back - when lying on my back my left side was more prominent than my right and if I lie on my stomach, there is a left hump off my spine higher than the right - I finally went to my chiropractor because I couldn't stand the pain and was looking for answers - any answers! My chiropractor took an x-ray and said he saw an abnormality in my left rib cage where the left slanted upward and then seemed to do a vertical drop - the right was perfectly smooth and round slanted as it should be according to him - he told me I had either been born with the abnormality and was noticing it more because of the now slight twisting of my spine in the thoracic region or because of the twisting of my spine this was causing the defect. I've had to quit my job because I could not stand the long drive nor could I sit leaning over a desk working on a computer all day - does anyone have any advice as to who I should go see to help me with this problem? Or is this something I must endure for the rest of my life? My PCP won't even schedule me an appointment to see me - he says there's no reason my ribs should hurt - would a spine dr help me? The pain is so severe at times I can't get out of bed and I'm too young for this to give up now - when I was younger - a child - I was told I would probably need to wear a brace - please help me!!

I'm thinking that my 16 year old son has this. I don't see any obvious signs of spine issues though (Adams forward bend test appears negative and hips and shoulders seem to visually align. Also no rib hump). However, because it's his entire left side of his rib cage that seems to protrude more than the right, I can't quite believe it's a pectus issue. Was your 'slightly twisted' spine obvious to the eye? Just curious because I've read that for the chest to be skewed like that from scoliosis that the scoliosis would have to be quite severe.

So Im 16, and the left side of my chest is an inch higher than my right. The right is flat enough for water to pool on it when I lay down. The left seems normal, the right not. I have been super self conscious about it.
I don't know anybody who has this problem, and neither does anybody I know it seems cause they all freak out when they see/touch my chest. I have never worked out a day in my life at a gym, so I know it is not caused by an uneven work out ( I'm also not fat). I have had this problem for as long as I remember, bit about when puberty started, it grew a lot worse. My mom freaked out when she first saw it and had me get an x-ray, doctor said it would even out when I'm like 25, and after this thread I'm inclined to not believe that.
I really wish there was something I could do. Should I go to the gym and gain muscles to help it, and if yes what exercises should i do. I the reason I hate my chest more than anything is cause everybody freaks when they see it, and the want to touch it. I hate that. If there is a good solution, please post.
