My surgery was September 28, 2010. I have had no problem with the incisions or pain in the stomach area. The pain in the lower right side of my back has been awful! No relief. Tried heat, massage, meds. Nothing works. Go for follow up with surgeon in two days. Would love to know what would cause the pain to go away.

Went to surgeon for follow up from gallbladder surgery. He had no explanation of back pain I was having. Went to regular doctor and he found that I have a partially collapsed lung that is causing the horrible pain in my back. At least now I know what the cause is. He said it was most likely caused from the surgery when the machine was breathing for me. Hope the recovery is quick.

My pain in the lower left lumbar spine area did go away within a few days. Surgeon felt it was possibly from not using the abdominal muscles and putting more pressure on the spine. I am inclined to think that was it. After a couple of days back at work and in the swing of things the pain was gone. I did use heating pad for a couple of days and it did seem to help. However, if anyone has pain that is not relieved, go to your doctor. Complications are always a risk with surgery and any pain not relieved, or swelling, redness, drainage from the incision site as well as fever should not be ignored.
I have noticed that I am not having problems with constipation anymore. I am having bowel movements most days and sometimes twice a day. This was a pleasant surprise as I have always had a problem with constipation. Also, the bloating is gone. I do feel much better after the surgery than before. Since I only had two small stones and the gallbladder was actually normal and healthy looking, I was not convinced that I would feel much different. But I do.

I just had my gabladder removed 1 week ago today. Since this was done I have had back and right shoulder pain this entire time. Have been taking Tylenol and relieves some but not completely. I wish I would have never had this done. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Hi.  It is now November and I had my gall bladder removed in May.  I wake up at 4.30am - 5.00 am with lower back pain on the left hand side.  I am having physio sessions, doing stretches etc which help.  Some days are okay, some are very bad.  Every night I take strong Codeine Tablets and Diclofenic every night (as well as Nortriptlyne) - if I don't then I will definitely be in pain.  With the tablets I don't have too much pain, just discomfort.

I had mine removed back in Jan. of last year, 2011, It is now Jan 2012. Still have the back pain. Very slow about seeing Doctors. Thought I would look it up on line first. Appears this is very common. Still, I think I will have to go and see my Doctor, after all. It is just not going away.

I had my gall bladder removed on Nov 1, 2011 and have sever back pain in the lower back and left side accompanying with muscle spasms . I have problem walking, sitting, and sleeping. Currently, receiving injections in spine, wearing a back brace and walking with a cane because of spasms. Prior to this I was active, in the gym 3 times a week and had an active life. I have loss time at work; used all my sick and borrowed sick leave. I recently was admitted in hospital and discovered I am suffering from B12 and folic acid deficiency. I have never been diagnosis with B12 or folic acid deficiency. I am in a lot of pain. None of this ever existed in my life until after I had my gall bladder removed. Did the Doctor do something wrong? Has anyone gone through this type of complication.

Just an update to the message I posted on 26th Nov. Over 5 months have passed since I posted and still the lower back pain persists. Some times it is okay for a couple of days but then it will be bad for quite a few days. Pain killers mask the pain, but the uncomfortableness is still there in the morning and wakes me up at the crack of dawn, which is bad because I sometimes work until midnight, doing 12 hour shifts. Sometimes an extra pillow under my thighs helps. I have recently got torticollis too, my neck is very stiff and sore. With the back pain I just can never get comfortable in bed when it starts at the beginning of the day. Physio have now signed me off after 9 months and I need to go back to my doctor. I do find that a work out at the gym does relieve the pain the next day.

I am one month Post op and i when i walk around alittle or alot my back will get to killing me and will go into my chest area. I can feel the Gas build up and it hurt's so bad. So i usually have to find a resting area and sit, breathe in and out and try to relax till i can relieve myself of gas by belching or farting then it seem's to ease up after a few minutes. But i too am wondering how to get this pain to stop forever. I hate not being normal and functioning. Not being able to walk much do to the pain and gas build up. I thought that by having the removal i would be free of pain, which Yes i am better and not in constant pain but not pain free as i was hoping for.  I've tried Gas X but that don't work. I am going to try to cut back on the fatty food's like someone else has mentioned and eat light as well as get off the soda and drink water and see if that will help.  My Surgeon was the pain should get better in time. Not a good enough answer to me. and the same as long as your not running a fever or vomiting you are ok. Well i don't feel ok, when i still hurt! Praying for Relief for Everyone and Fast i know it's awful.
