If you do have serious, chronic yeast infections, you have to do more than just topical applications of boric acid, tea tree oil, douching, or anything else. That's like trying to fix a leaking dam with duct tape. Nope, hate to say it, but you really have to suck it up and look into the root causes of your infection. For most folks in the western world, that starts with diet. If you use boric acid, but your diet is based on (or just contains) carbs, processed foods, and anything containing sugar, you'll just be growing back the yeast after the work of the boric acid stops physically killing the yeast. Believe me, I know this from battling a terrible sweet tooth and three years of chronic yeast trying everything, before I realized and began what I'm telling you below.
This is a battle and it's a several step process.
1. First, go to whole foods or a vitamin shop and buy YeastDefense. It's a probiotic to replace your good yeast-killing flora, mixed with potent yeast-killing natural anti-fungals. I've tried many products and it's the best I've found. Start with 1 or 2 a day and slowly increase. I take a daily maintance dose of 3, and I can tell when I forget.
2. Put yourself on a strict anti-candida diet. Just do a google search of that term and you'll pop up all sorts of info. Basically, say goodbye to all bread products, sweet foods, and alcohol (very bad for you! yeast loves it!). It sucks, but it's absolutely necessary.
3. Then and only then worry about topical applications. Without steps 1 & 2, if you have a serious infections, you'll only be treating symptoms, which will return as soon as you stop the mechanical action of killing the yeast. That's all the boric acid does--it doesn't help prevent the yeast. In the end, the only way to rid yourself of a chronic infection is to change your lifestyle. Do your research! There's plenty of info out there--just don't forget the three steps.
Also, you can have BV and yeast at the same time--I know because I've had both in the past and in the present. Boric Acid is actually recommend to treat BV and yeast.
I am trying the Boric Acid, am going to reduce sugar from my diet, and try the Yeast Guard tablets. I'll let you know how it goes. I expect this process of finally ridding of my yeast to take a few months.
Hope this helps and It will get better! :)
Effecting you. I found that if my husband consumed alcohol prior to sex, I would get yeast build up. If he is on certain medications
You will find an increase in symptoms too. On a level beyond physical, you could consider yoga and chokra clearing. Most of the time, 2nd
Chokra is out of balance due to reasons you might want to explore. Boric acid helped me, a lot but when I didn't use it, the infection would return. Now that I practice yoga, I haven't had a yeast infection for over a year. My body is now in balance. Namaste
2. As one of the other post stated, detergents/ soaps/ tight clothing/ etc. can cause irritation/ itching/ etc. but may clear up if the irritant is removed.
3. On a daily basis, eat yogurt or other foods/drinks that contain probiotics/ live cultures. If you don't like yogurt, Take a supplement (Examples: Culturelle, acidophilus, etc). As you know, all-around healthy diet is probably the cure, but that takes patience (general improvement of your health isn't usually immediate).
4. Do an internal cleansing (you can find cleansing treatments in the laxative section at any pharmacies). This includes drinking lots of water (as previously stated by another post). If you can't get that, try using Metamucil (or another fiber drink --containing Psyllium Husk). Drink a glass of that every day for a couple of weeks or more. Yeast stems from an imbalance in your intestinal flora. As you know, our intestines need a balance of friendly bacteria to keep yeasts at bay. if you've taken antibiotics in the past, you are probably aware that antibiotics kill the friendly bacteria in your intestines. That is why you need to consume foods, such as yogurt, because it contains the friendly bacteria needed to maintain a healthy GI tract.
5. Have you tried Diflucan (if it is yeast infection)? That is a single-dose (1 pill) that is supposed to cure most yeast infections.
6. Have you tried to creams (Use 7-day Monistat----not 1 day or 3 day). If that doesn't work, try the other brand (I think it is Terazol). The 2 different brands have different ingredients. You may respond to 1 of the ingredients, but, for some reason, won't respond to the other.
Thank u ladies for all of your comments as I will for sure try some of those natural remedies for yeast infection. I just wanted to add to what can cause BV...condoms! I'm highly allergic to them now and I thought it was only to latex but I discovered that it is to all of them except LAMB skin. The only problem with the LAMB is that they don't protect u against std's...they just protect u against pregnancies.
It turns out that the wash was causing the irritation and inflammation. I stopped using it and found a chemical free wash - Origins Perfect World - and no kidding. I haven't had a yeast infection since. Now. I still have to be careful because I can tell that I'm still sensitive to everything that might cause a yeast infection. But it's been a year. I would NEVER have believed that it was the chemicals in the soap.
I have always had a white, thin, discharge ever since I became sexually active. My first partner gave me Chlamydia, and I was properly treated and I continue to have this vaginal discharge for 10 years. Every year (at least 2-3times) I go to the doctor because sometimes the discharge develops a bread smelling odor or fishy. I have had a yeast infection and BV at the same time, and I've taken 2 doses of diflucan and 1 week of Flagyl (yuck!). Even after being treated for the yeast infections, I continue to have the white, thin discharge! I have been to the doctor after being treated and was told that the discharge is normal unless it starts to have an odor. that was back in November.
Now, I recently noticed the bread smell again and I just came back from the doctor. She said she saw yeast and I was instructed to take 1 Diflucan today and 1 more in 3 days. I will make sure to abstain from intercourse with the hubby to make sure that the diflucan clears it up. If it doesnt, then I will go back to the doc and suggest they send off a culture of the discharge to make sure it's not a resistant type of yeast called candida glabrata.
I really need a solution.

This site is about boric acid as a treatment for yeast, including the reason for the bread crumb discharge.
When the body is acidic, yeast, bacteria, viruses and cancer can thrive. And conversely, when the body is alkaline, foreign bacteria, viruses, yeast and cancer can not live.
After using the Nikken water purification system that alkalines the water and drinking water that changes your acidity to alkaline my yeast is history.

uHAVE they not checked you for STDS or BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS?
Bacterial vaginosis has similar symptoms of a yeast infection, but is ONLY treatable with antibiotics especially intended for that type of infection.
bacterial vaginosis can be CAUSED by antibiotics....and is treatable for some with the use of boric acid....if someone has had something for a year or more, i would assume they have ruled out stds.
Not true. Antibiotics cause the yeast infection first. Then, once the pH balance is off balance bacteria are able to invade hence the name bacterial vaginosis. When the pH balance of the vagina is accurate it automatically protects itself from this bacteria. Basically, one issue causes the other issue. Over the counter Boric Acid may help the yeast infection issue but it takes prescription Flagyl to cure the bacterial vaginosis.
I've used the same treatment of Boric Acid prescribed by a physician and it worked the same way. I then was told to use a probiotic tablet vaginally. Some people use yogurt, but the sugars found in most yogurts are food for yeast. Culturelle, an over-the-counter that is sometimes found in the pharmacy area (available without a presecription), worked very well, and I also took it orally. It worked! From what my pharmacist explained to me, the Boric Acid kills the yeast, but it is important to replace it with beneficial bacteria quickly so that you do not contract another yeast overgrowth or a bacterial infection. This should stop the cycle of reinfection. If this does not help, ask your doctor for a round of treatment for Bacterial Vaginosis which is usually Metrogel taken similar to Monistat cream, but is for treating bacterial infection rather than yeast. I found my problems stemmed from endometriosis that had caused scar tissue that pulled on the bladder that gave the symptoms of a UTI and sometimes caused UTI's. Yeasts and Bacterial vaginosis can give similar symptoms as a UTI. At one point, I had the unfortunate experience of a doctor who missed the Bacterial vaginosis for two years. She told me I had psoriasis! Finding a different doctor can change everything!
