Go to your gyno and have her/him take a swab and do a culture. It sounds like you may have bv, bacterial vaginosis. Good Luck

My doctor told me to use crisco (yes crisco) on the capsul before I insert it. It will help it dissolve

I have had chronic yeast infections for two years now (at least one a month, usually two a month). I have tried so many different home remedies and doctor prescribed methods to fix this. Nothing has worked. I am wanting to try boric acid suppositories next. I have read a lot of research and I'm still unsure of how long I should use the suppositories at first and how often after to prevent reoccurring yeast. How often do you use them?

A cottage cheese like discharge is not likely to be a yeast infection. By the time it got to that consistency, you would be painfully raw. It is much more likely to be a bacterial infection. I am 56 years old and have been susceptible to yeast infections my entire life. If I am prescribed an antibiotic, I request Diflucan with it. Every time. Douching should be avoided at all costs. All the time. Douching is a concept created by the industry to make money. As long as you are healthy and keep yourself clean, you shouldn't need to douche. No matter how sexually active you are. Your body will eliminate ejaculate fluid naturally. Douching, even with plain water, kills beneficial bacteria and makes you much more susceptible to yeast infections. Synthetic fabric is another no-no. Your crotch area (vaginal and anal) needs air, and synthetic fabrics do not breathe. They are fine for seduction, since you won't be in them long, but not for daily use. OTC creams work for some but not for everyone, due in part to the many different organism which can cause a yeast infection. And they're messy. But oral antifungals can have side effects, so you should consult your physician every time you think you have a yeast infection. The most important information you can have however, and this is IMPORTANT - your male partner may be reinfecting you. If you had intercourse while you had a yeast infection, he may be infected and asymptomatic. As a result he doesn't know he's infected and is reinfecting you. So your partner should also be getting treatment at the same time you are. Believe it or not, this is the most common cause of persistent, reoccurring yeast infections in women.

Sounds like candida to me. I've been going through the same thing for years. The only way to rid your body of the yeast overgrowth is to heal your gut, which is where it thrives. Do a candida diet (look online for the instructions, allowed foods etc.) and take tons of probiotics. Stay AWAY from antibiotics or diflucan.. they will destroy your gut flora. Bone broth is very healing as well, u can also read about that online. GL :)

Hi Susan - just an FYI, did you mean drinking or flushing your vagina?! I say this because boric acid is HIGHLY TOXIC if ingested orally. I hope you mean vaginally.

It sounds like you're consuming the boric acid. That would kill you. You put the boric acid in your vagina

Boric acid is not toxic in small amounts. It was used for years to treat arthritis and other ailments until they made it iillegal to sell as a supplement. Earth clinic has a boric acid treatment that you ingest 1/8 teaspoon in water through out the day. Also part of the healing process in the book candida : killing so softly. Lots of info on it.

Hey I just started a course of boric acid suppositories 6 days ago and I was wondering how you treatment turned out and if it helped? I had exactly the same problem as you! Persistent yeast for 6 months because of UTI antibiotics that just wouldnt go away no matter what other treatment I tried!! Please tell me how your experience with the Boric acid was.

I think drinking the apple cider vinegar could be the problem with regards to the UTIs. On two separate occasions I drank raw apple cider vinegar and got UTIs. One was just recently. I've heard of a few people getting UTIs by drinking this stuff. Check out people's comments online, especially comments on apple cider vinegar at Amazon.

I have had issues with discharge and odor for years, maybe since the age of 18 and am 36 now. I've had yeast and BV issues since I was 30 and noticed the discharge issue was worse as well as the stronger odor. I would go to the doc and tested negative for everything. Over a year ago I went on an anti-candida diet. That helped. I believe I suffer from systemic yeast issues and leaky gut. About 7 months ago I started the GAPS diet to heal my leaky gut, which in turn will also heal the systemic yeast. It is very involved and a huge commitment. I recommend checking it out but it may not be for everyone. This is a diet that needs to be done for anywhere from 6 months to a year or longer. Since starting that diet I have noticed a huge difference in my discharge and odor. Gaps diet cuts out ALL grains whereas the anti-candida diet allows some. I think this has helped me immensely. I have also had success curing BV and Yeast issues with boric acid. It generally takes 1-2 wks but it has seemed to work. In fact I recently go a yeast infection and used boric acid and the culture the doc took 36 hrs after my last suppository came back completely negative for everything. I have not gotten the discharge you are discussing, only some watery discharge and sometimes I can tell the boric acid is coming out esp when I use two a day, one in the morning and one at night. I do experience some light bleeding after a few days though. I've read that this can happen. Other than that there is no pain or irritation and the bleeding stops within 24 - 36 hours after I stop the suppositories.
