I am new to this site, found it while doing a search for my problem. I too, have the so called "fat" gel like areas in the hollow of my neck, or what used to be the hollow, above my collarbone. I had pneumonia a few months ago and the doc gave me a steroid shot, breathing treatment and prednisone..my skin on my upper chest, neck and collarbone area turned reddish that night like I had a sunburn and I noticed the "gel" filled areas. One side was quite large and the other wasn't quite as large. Days later I started discovering swelling in other areas like near the crease in my armpits, behind my knees and I have 2 small lumps on my jawline on one side, also my hands sometimes swell and turn all red on the palms and my neck has started getting stiff and painful which I figure is caused by the swelling.
My doctor sent me to an ENT after 7 weeks and I too, was told I had fat. I was furious...I weigh 112 lbs and "fat" doesn't make your skin red!!!! She said there was NO swelling and she actually laughed at me. My thyroid quit working several months ago and I had gained about 6 lbs so she decided it was fat....no one gains 6 lbs in their neck!!!!! I was so mad.
Has anyone actually gotten a viable answer?
