It is called esophageal Spasm. Get your doctor to test you for it
I get that too, and when I told a Dr. recently, I got no reaction but, nice to know i'm not crazy.
Omg I'm so glad I'm not alone! I keep trying to tell my boyfriend about my back freeze but he just laughs at me and looks at me like im crazy. Lol

I know this is old but I have been getting this for yrs now. Everyone I talk to about thinks I'm crazy. It hurts like hell for a few mins the. Passes. The pain usually right over my kidney area whenever I drink ice cold drinks such as a shake, frappe, etc. I was worried about it lately bc no one ever understands what I'm talking about. Good to know I'm not the only knw getting these
OMG, I also just Googled "brain freeze in back" after being told it can't happen in the back cuz got to do with nerves in mouth going to brain - and I've also ALWAYS gotten in center of my back, never my brain. Love "Dads" explanation... I'm going with that!
I also expeeience back pain along with the brain freeze every time I eat ice cream.
