Have any of you started feeling any better or found out what the problem was. I too have a 10 year hx of smoking and juat quit about a week ago. I am literally gasping for air even when im sitting down. I dont remember ever doing this while smoking. Its scary!!
I hear you man, I quit smoking 9 months ago and I feel like.sh*t, I have no drive to do a thing, I'm miserable all the time, i feel weak lack focus or patience , waste my days off sleeping and keep getting sick all the time, i wish I never quit smoking but I can't smoke anymore, I literally can't take a drag of a smoke so I guess I'm just going to either force myself into smoking again or ride it off and maybe get divorced since my wife can barely put up with me now.
Hi, I decided to stop smoking, after 35 years of smoking, Nov 17th initially didn't notice many side effects, and the I have had repeated viral illnesses, and have developed a wheeze and cough over the last two weeks! I'm hoping this is my lungs have a proper clear out, but I have never felt so rubbish since I quit!

Hello Dee, my name is Rob and I quit smoking 172 days ago. I quit smoking after nearly 40 years because my breathing was becoming really bad. I would have to catch my breath from just abut everything, like vaccuming, coughing or simply after just laying down in bed at night. I found that my breathing became even worse beginning about 1 month after quitting. I would have to catch my breath all the time just like before quitting, but I started coughing a lot more. Coughing so bad that I would have to lean on something until I could catch my breath. Just awful and so freaking scary. Anyway, it had gotten so much worse and I started thinking about smoking again so I could breath better. I stuck with it though because I figured it would be insane to continue with me feeling so bad. Anyway, on Mothers day this year, (day 164 since quitting) my breathing suddenly got noticeably better. I mean it was like overnight, I could feel my lungs taking air deeper and easier. And my coughing was dramatically lessened. I still have problems having to catch my breath, especially while climbing stairs, and I still cough so badly that I sometimes have to catch my breath, mostly first thing in the morning. But I feel much better than I did. I believe that with time this will happen for you too. I deeply hope that it will because I know what you are going through and I honestly feel for you. Please let me offer some suggestions. First, my Mom has asthma and was prescribed albuterol inhalers to help her breathing. One day I tried a puff off one of the inhalers and found it made a huge difference! These inhalers are about $60 at Walmart and they are not that great in quality, they have a very weak airflow and they clog quite easily. I tried an online pharmacy from overseas and was relieved to find that they didn't rip me off and sent the inhalers quickly. These inhalers are roughly $10 each and are much better quality than the ProAir brand here at home. Anyway, please try albuterol as soon as possible, it will make a big difference for you. Secondly, my doctor prescribed anxiety meds (xanax) for me. I am taking the smallest dose possible and I find they are an enormous help when I'm freaking out about my breathing. I don't like the thought of taking pills at all, but they honestly make a big difference. By the way, I have copd (my doctor said it was severe, though now he says maybe he was wrong and he thinks I'm moderately severe) and my breathing has unquestionably improved since quitting. Don't let the prospect of copd encourage you to give up. And try to be positive, the right mindset makes such a difference in matters like these. My best wishes...
so... basically youre saying...dont bother quitting

It's like you have to learn how to breathe without smoking. I started taking fish oil because someone suggested it. I will also take s deep breath and hold for 8 seconds and release slowly. Or try a rescue inhaler.
same thing here. I quit smoking and couldn't breath resue inhaler would not work. found. out I have gerd disease. most people who smoked will have a problem breathing with this disease. I didn't have all the systems with this disease. just heart burn. I went on diet and lost 45 pounds and sleep better. off the diet I have breathing problems when I try to mow, paint, move heavy things .
I actually quit smoking 13 months ago . About 2 months now I have been experiencing chronic coughing . I was told I have early stages of COPD . A few days ago I was also diagnosed with heart failure and it's just all professing . I felt great after I quit smoking these new developments came moths later . Visit pulmonary Dr. And cardiologist. They have the answers . Everyone is different .
