you think is your chest - it is not. it is your esophagous - at the beggining of your stomach. try drinking milk as soon as you feel the pain

the acidity of the alcohol is hurting your stomach. - go to a doctor right away you may have an opening there and that is your pain there.

hi im only 18, but i get these Abdominal Pains when i drink alcohol (pre mixed/fizzy) on a empty stomach it seems like its between my ribs/just below it, at around 16/17 i started binge drinking, drinking daily from afternoon to dark with limited breaks, i got those pains but they never lasted long 1 min max now 3-5 minutes, but a few days ago i had a pain that lasted 15 minutes i could hardly breathe in and out,i can drink beer on a empty stomach and not get these pains, could it just be the gas in the pre mixed drink combining with acids inside my stomach??

I too have had stomach pain for years. My triggers to stay away from are wine coolers, mountain dew and rum.

I went through every test known to man and it turns out I simply make too much acid in my stomach. You've heard of GERD?

Prilosec increased my pain. previcid worked great but my insurance changed and they will no longer pay for it. Now on Nexium which works with a few minor breakthrough episodes.

So if anyone still needs answers---this is what the problem is. No ulcers!

I am having the same problem. About two or three days ago I had a couple of friends over for a game of beirut and I have to admit I drank way too much! Now I have this horrible stomach pain that won't go away. I can eat bits and pieces but I get nauseous after a while. Any help?

I too can relate. I have an occasional drink here and there. Most of the time it doesn't bother me. However, sometimes the pain in my stomach is so intense I can't breathe. It starts slowly and progresses to the point I wonder if I'm going to have a heart attack. It usually lasts from 15 minutes up to an hour. The epicenter of pain is just below the sturnum, and at its worst can move through my back and down my arms. I get chills and feel like I'm burning up at the same time. When I feel it starting I try and eat some bread. This seems to make it stop sooner. I try and stay away from sweet drinks because they seem to cause this reaction more often. However, I have had the same reaction from shots of alcohol and beer. I know its not gas or anxiety or heartburn. I can't seem to find an answer for why this is happening, but I think it has something to do with alcohol and sugar. I would really like some answers.

For (most) everyone suffering from stomach pains after drinking alcohol, it's just alcohol causes your stomach to produce acid. Here's what you do: take two Tums (bigger ones) 10-15 minutes before you drink. I'll bet it'll "cure" your stomach ache drinking problem like it did mine and change your life for the better! I suffered with it for 20 years and now I'm catching up on the good times without the pain. Try it today.
Good luck!

Hi
I am 24 and have also on occasion experienced the sharp burning a lot of people on here have mentioned. A few years ago after some very heavy drinking i vomited all day for the next day and then saw the doctor. He said i had "acute alcoholic gastritis" which means inflamed stomach lining. He likened it to the inside of my stomach looking like a grazed knee. For months after this i could not stomach alcohol because it made me feel like i had been punched in the stomach and winded. when i drink too much now, it feels just the same as it did then.
I experienced the death of someone close to me recently from pancreatic cancer. I also know that dying from cirrhosis is quite similar and all i can say is that it is not a good way to go. This type of thing is always a surprise when it happens, and it is so quick between diagnosis and the end. I too realize how difficult it is to stop drinking but i think the key is to fix the reason why you drink, because we don't drink to make us happy, we do it to stop us from feeling unhappy.
don't ignore what your body is telling you.

I'm a 21 male. I've been having stomach pain all day. I drank heavily two nights ago in a vodka binging contest against a proud Australian female. I humbly won, point for America. anyway, yesterday when I woke up, I was somewhat hungover/still drunk but had no stomach pains. Then I was fine this morning until I ate breakfast, at which point the sharp pangs of my disgruntled stomach set in attacking my body for the previous nights of abuse to it. I can't say I blame the fellow. I attacked him with a bit more alcohol than usual.

Here's the point. does anyone think that vodka could have burned a hole through my stomach causing stomach enzymes to leak into my bowels during the necessary act of ingesting energy? I feel slightly better after eating or drinking bases. if I end up going to the doctor and finding out I have stomach cancer, I will inform the general public in this forum straight forth and without delay. also, if you are a beautiful woman then do not hesitate to contact me for whatever reason.

Alcohol increases the production of acids in the stomach, so a heavy drinker could experience uncomfort in the forms of nausea, vomiting, and bloated gassy problems that can last up to 2.5 years, depending on the alcohol level. Also, try to avoid binge drinking and then eating, you can't digest food after alcohol use, eat before you drink...
I'm sorry but I don't actually know what to do about it... %-)

I don't believe it has anything to do with sugar. It dose seem to have something to do with the acidity level and and carbonation of most drinks. Iced tea, apple juice, pop and alcohol are irrating either an ulcer or the lining of your stomach. I'm no doctor, but through the process of elimination I have determined this as fact.

The people who swear its the sugar in the alcohol drinks aren't lying... I'm one of them...I thought in was all sorts of things from liver to stomach ulcer etc, etc. Til I googled and found other people who determined its the sweet drinks that causes it. I new schnapps were becoming very bad for me but was amazed that when I mixed my mixed drinks with diet soda instead of reg. soda the whole issue goes away COMPLETELY.

Problem is nowhere on the net can I find a answer for WHY this is!

So instead of dismissing the sugar/sweet aspect away it'd be great if someone had some ideas that explained why sugar+alcohol equals stomach pain but alcohol with no sugar or sugar with no alcohol is fine....
