Funny that you all mention pain in your stomach after drinking because I had 5 drinks last night, mixed with diet 7-up and I am having those same old sharp pains in my side that I get whenever I drink hard liquor. I drank heavily when I was in my younger years. I guess you could say that I was a typical 19 and 20 year old. I didn't know that drinking 30 drinks a week was bad for ya, hell, all the cowboys I hung around were doing the same thing. I didn't drink hardly at all from the age of 21 until I was 37. In the last two years I have drank around 5-7 drinks a week, considered light to moderate drinking in the good ol' US of A. But when I drink hard liquor mixed with coke I get the sharp pains in my side, almost like there's a sore or cut. What doesn't make sense is the fact that three years ago I wrenched a stomach muscle in a boxing match. So how could a pulled muscle have anything to do with the pain I feel when I drink hard liquor? I don't even like hard stuff, I just drink it cause it's less calories than wine or beer and doesn't give me a pooch gut. Any tidbits of info about how a pulled stomach muscle can be related to the pain I feel when I drink 80 proof? Anyone? Anyone?....Buehler?

For the last month or so, I have been having alcohol-related pains similar to these descriptions, although not just when I drink sugary drinks. I've done a little bit of experimenting, testing the waters I guess, but the results so far are always painful. Last week I drank ONE BEER and I felt okay, but then I woke up at 4 a.m. with the worst stomach pain I have ever had. It was terrible--the only reason I didn't go to the hospital was that I have no health insurance. So until I can afford to go to the doctor, I have quit drinking any alcohol. Eggs also seem to upset my stomach, and eating more than a small amount of food at once makes me very uncomfortable. The only relief for the pain I had was vicadin, and I'm not a fan of pills. Unfortunately, I am a fan of beer. I read about ulcers, pancreatitis, acid reflux, stomach cancer....none of it seemed to really match what I was feeling, but some of what's described here is exactly what I felt. Really bad cramping, sometimes tearing pain, feeling like I'm hungry and I need to poop at the same time...what is it??!! Bacteria?? Death??! So far it looks like certain sobriety, which I can handle--I just want to know if there's anything else I should be doing...?

Hi every one, no need to be ashamed, none for us is perfect, drink alcohol withe empty stomsch is very dangerous.
Any way alcohol withe empty or full stomach not good, we should change our habits , ther's many soft drinks.
Try to practice sports, dance, study music, eat naturel food, and avoide any drink has alcohol.
I'm not a docter and I can't play the role of, as I 'm human I feel what others feel, trying to help.
Have a nice life.

For about 5 months now, since I got married, I'd been having wine (or sometimes mixed drinks with liquor) every night and coffee (with lots of sugar) every morning. My stomach has gone to hell. I get horrible burning pain in my stomach, diarrhea, gas, bloating, stabbing pains in my chest (presumably from gas), you name it. I completely stopped eating lunch because it would make me sick. I take gas medicine but it doesn't really help. I'm uncomfortable all the time. At first I thought it was the coffee and alcohol together that was tearing me up, so I'd try to not drink one night, or not have coffee one morning., but that doesn't seem to be my problem. In the past couple of weeks I've quit wine and started whiskey and coke, but that didn't really make a difference. I had horrible pain this morning so googled it. After reading here, it seems it might be something to do with all the sugar so I'm going to try out avoiding sugar. I'm only 22 and finally enjoying my adult freedom so I like to have some drinks after work, but I also like to eat without wanting to die!

About 20 years ago, I met up with a former school classmate who had been, at the time, "dry" for five years. He claimed to have a very serious drinking problem and only through AA was he able to stop. At this time, he often used Bicarb of soda to give his sick stomach relief. He finally got so sick that he went to the doctor. He was told that using Bicarb was a bad choice. Within the year that I dated him, he had to have part of his stomach removed. Not only the alcohol but the bicarb really wrecked his stomach. He has since died.....the alcohol abuse really ruined and shortened his life.

About 7-8 years ago I strained/pulled a lower ab muscle doing hanging leg raises. Ever since then, i get pains in the exact same area from a lot of things....coffeee, diet soda, alcohol, spicy foods, motrin, advil, etc. I try not to drink or eat those things on an empty stomach but sometimes it doesn't matter. I have aggravated the ab muscle several times since, including just the other day. I have noticed it has bothered me even more since the recent re-injury, so somehow it is all related.

Hello! I commenting on green stool and burning.I used to get once awile. Not anymore since I stoped drinking. The pain you feel is citied gas that burns your stomic lining. The green stuff you poo out is stomic acid.If you had any liver problems most likly you would poo out bloody stool or black stool or mucuse stool. The pain is gas.you probly did not have any food in your stomic even you think you did.

Hey. I am 18 years old and have been having severe stomach pains similar to most described above for about 2 years. Even in small quantities alcohol hurts my stomach when ingested, and I throw up for at least 12 hours after a night of drinking. My doctor told me it is a combination of having a really weak stomach and my liver turning alcohol into formaldehyde. He also told me I was one unlucky SOB.

Same problems. A heavy reaction in my stomache when drinking alcohol with sugar contend. Or eating sweats after consuming alcohol. Got it cince i was 6. Still have it sometimes. Nobody seem to know what it causes, and many think its acid burn or feeling sick, but its more or less like your stomache or first part of your colon is turning inside out. Stops after intense muskle contractment or intense movement. I think its something like all sugar is turned into energy without the body able to cope with that. Im not sure, but its what i think. Although my accupuncturist tells me i have pancteas problems, im not sure if that is the problem. Sugar measuremens make clear i am not diabetical. So... Still searching internet for answers. Greetz

And by the way.... For all alcohol abusers,

Ever concidered the cause might lie into the brain? I was an adict for years, wanting to stop, but simply couldnt. After a few therapists i found out i had 'attention deficit hyperactive disorder' ... I was drinking as a kind of self medicational sollution. Please do understand that not all will have a simmilar diagnose, but as it was not common to have this diagnose a couple a years aggo, it seems lots of peops suffer alcoholism due to this or another physical problem.

Anyway, i' just in time to save my liver...( lucky me, y-globuline levels still within reach of automatic repayr by my system)
