It is your sphincter of Oddi. It spasms causing bile back up and pain. Lie down for 5-20 minutes. It should go away, and you can drink again. If it is a common Occurance, you may need surgery, but diagnosis is envasive and surgery is complicated.
My favorite drink used to be whiskey and coke. The fear of the pain in my stomach has kept me away from them. I can still drink beer, or straight whiskey a little at a time, but if I have anything sweet with it, I almost want to double over and lay down from the pain. Sometimes a candy bar and soda will do it to me, as well as certain energy drinks. There main one that does it to me is, blue agave fill throttle. I haven't compared it to anything, but i know it has 58g of sugar per can
Hi I am 35 years old and have suffered with this for years and years I have no idea what it is but it's every time I drink any alcapop drink cocktail drink very heavy sugary mixed glucose drinks with a lot of other extra nasty things they mix in those drinks while making and bottling them up because come on guys there's more than just suger in these drinks that affect us and we all eat sugar every day and it certainly doesn't make me Keil over crying on the floor like these drinks do so I know that there is something not nice in these drinks that seriously dose not agree with our body's so I can only drink wine and larger and I can't stand larger so we have to adjust to things that do agree or don't drink at all but I can assure you one thing am still here so I don't think it's anything to worry about I think everyone's body's are different and just react differently to different things but if any one gets really spooked by it then get it checked out
EXACTLY! I can drink whatever (almost). I used to drink heavily in college, now I rarely drink, but it hasn't changed. I learned way back then if I drink a smirnoff ice or crappy happy hour margherita I would get terrible stomach pain and pain that felt like nerve pain radiating down my arms but most of the pain was in my stomach and inner elbows. Felt like my veins were going to burst. This would happen immediately after drinking super sugary alcohol so I always stuck to beer/wine for the msot part. The same thing happened the other day when i had a large glass (just one) of champagne celebrating my birthday. It seems if I drink an great deal of water, as much as I can until the pain goes away is the only solution. I feel like a million bucks after the water has watered down the glucose levels in my bloodstream and my stomache and arm pains are all gone. It works quickly too, within 10 minutes or so. Still no answers from doctors on this.
I am so glad I am reading that others are feeling what I feel, so at least I know I'm not crazy. I drink a small glass of wine than find my self feeling as if I was punched in the belly. It last 15 to 20 min. than it starts to go away.
Funny as it sounds try eating saltine soda crackers right away until the pain starts to subside and it seems to stop. Hope it works for you.
Try looking up spasm of the sphincter of Oddi. It's a muscle, basically, between your liver, pancreas, and stomach, and it can spasm when drinking sugary alcoholic drinks and cause pain.
I have had the exact same thing since I was 18. I am now 46 and still have it. Right below sternum and only when I drink sweet alcoholic drinks. Booze and diet soda is fine. Straight booze, fine. Straight regular soda or sugary non alcoholic drinks, fine. Bbut it mix booze with any sugar and within 10 minutes I'm in pain.
