This all depends. The vast majority of people are saying that no, it has been 'scientifically proven' and 'tested' that smoking pot gives you the munchies, therefore resulting in weight gain as opposed to loss. In my extensive firsthand experience this has been proven wrong. I've been smoking 40-50 bongs a day for roughly 2 and a half years. I am a 17 year old girl, height of 5ft 9.5" and I only weigh 49kgs. During puberty I was very overweight, weighing 65kgs when i was 12y/o. Since smoking pot regularly i have gradually started to lose weight to the point where last week I was hospitalised because the point it has reached is far too unhealthy. NOTE: not everyone that smokes pot loses weight. Some people are correct in saying that others will gain weight. It all depends on the individual (the amount and frequency they are smoking, the method of smoking, as well as their individual metabolic factors). However, in my case and those of my brother and a significant number of close friends and acquaintances alike, excessive amounts of weed can cause you to lose drastic amounts of weight. This is because your appetite ceases to exist when you are sober, and then it begins that even once stoned you start to become hungry less and less frequently until, in my case, it got to the point where I could not eat anything at all for 2 days and was hospitalised, am currently writing this from my bed where I have been for four days and will be for the next week until I can force my stomach into learning to digest food again.

I smoke weed have been for the past 6 months and ive gone down from 320lbs to 240lbs so i have lost quite a bit of weight but nothing has changed besides the curve in my appetite. so in my case it does help with weight loss.

ive smoked weed for five years now.. i was like you.. i loved doing everything i did sober but i loved it more doing it high.. five years later i smoke everyday all day long.. i sneak it at work, family functions, anywhere i go i need to smoke. the second i wake up i smoke. it may not be addicting to you but it is addicting to other people... i loved smoking my green but now i smoke wen i dnt even want to..addiction is swift and clever cause it tricked the hell outta me

I fully believe it can help weight loss.

I started smoking weed last year Jan 2012 and was 192 lbs (I'm 5'2... not an attractive weight for my frame..) By January 2013 I'd lost 55lbs. I've stopped smoking due to randoms at my job, and have stopped losing weight. I'm still eating the same healthy foods, and I'm still working out just the same. But it's not coming off anymore. I'm now at 135.. and haven't smoked in 3 months, (no withdraws or anything like that.. and I smoked about 3 to 4 times a day) and I'm not losing anymore weight. It's SUPER annoying.

I was 140 pounds at 5'11 and couldnt gain weight and never knew why I smoked all the time 4-5 blunts a day and could only eat when I was high and I would always wake up sick, on january 1st 2013 I quit its now April 7th and I weigh 167 pounds and its not fat its all mass I look fuller and got my appetite back so for me smoking weed made me lose weight

hey, im not sure if your an active user but people googling "does marijuana make you loose weight" might find this intresting.

Smoking weed does make you loose weight i no this first hand, i used to be almost 240 lbs, andd i worked fast food in May of 2012, its now almost may 2013, and im 181 lbs all with very little excersize, theres lots of nifty tricks to ensure weight lose while smoking and ill help you out.

Note im a heavy smoker, i like a facey at night, at least one.
and sessions always consist of like 4+ blunts, but anyways

dont starve yourself, actually eating when you get the munchies in my opinion helps more to burn then not eating but i experimented with both. I made different types of juices my juicer for when i got the munchies to supplement any junk foods that would make the process of loosing the weight slower.

When you smoke marijuana your heart rate increases thus creating a sort of in place work out. When your heart beats quicker your burning calories a little bit quicker then not doing anything which is pretty cool.

Now if your an over analyzer like me, whose trying to go from literally flab to abs in 1 year, then you need some nifty tricks to turn over hunger etc and how to capitalize on the effects of thc without walking around blinded 24 / 7.

One trick i used was to get completely high before bed, like 10 minutes before bed.

So say id eat my last meal at 7-8pm sometimes not even at all, long term effects of smoking actually make you not at all hungry, i dont eat anything like i used to , it causes to many stomach pains now. i was amazed that my body changed like that , or at least my stomach.

Anyways after 8 pm if you feel hungry, then buy some sort of smal snack that can be used with a very spicy hot sauce, or hot dip, if your anything like me youll take 1 lick of a jalapeno infested dip and chug 72 fl oz's of water and feel full and it will be satisfying as your curing the burn in your mouth. Get a juicer and juice it up for late night and also buy flax seeds, they expand in your stomach and make you less hungry, if enough water is taken in aftera teaspoon full.

Back to my point. Before bed i like to smoke maybe 1-2 blunts to get to such a point where im so bent.

From there i go straight to sleep, when i do this the craving for munchies is nothing at all. im already asleep and in a "lazy work out" so all night long youll be burning like crazy, if you compliment this with 30 minute jogs every morning, you could probably loose up to 4-5 lbs a week, ever at my weight which is 181, its also best to use a bong, more thc intake, makes you higher etc.

i can answer more questions if you need them answered, but just note weed does make you loose weight, its not scientifically proven, its fundamentally proven through every single person who ever smokes even if they dont no it. Cheers

a lot of you seem to forget tha tthere is natural weight loss.. Especially over a period like 4 years, your weight will fluxuate a lot. You will proabbly find the cannabis has zero effect on weight loss.. It will other fac tors that just happen to coincide with the smoking..i.e- its all just a coincidence.. there is zero medical factual evidence to support weight loss..Sorry.. but only one study has been shown to suggest it causes weight loss, and the data from it, can be viewed in several ways..  It didnt't take many otehr factors into account.. 

 

I'm pleased for you all that have lost weight, but you really shoudln t say, or think "CAnnabis madem e lose this weight!" You done it all yourselves :)

I have smoked weed since I was about thirteen yrs old I'm now 31 yrs old have high metabolism n have never weighed over 125 with a height of 5'6" I served 5 months in jail gained 20lbs when I got out I kept the weight on until I went back to smoking heavily n now I've gone down to 110 lbs and a 0 in jeans! I hate being so small ppl think u smoke crack or something so I am now making up my mind to quit smoking for a bit to c if it helps me gain weight back!! Although my boyfriend started smoking heavily same time I did n he has gained weight. I think the only reason we lose weight is because we r eating less but more often! Like someone trying to lose weight does! So well c day 1 115lbs!

This is exactly how I am feeling at the moment!! I weigh 6 stone 11 pounds and used to weigh around 8 stone before I started smoking it!! I have lost so much weight ever since I started smoking it, I've been smoking it for 6 months now, 7 blunts a day!!! I can now nearly see my ribs and it upsets me so so much! Hence why I've decided to stop smoking it myself, the only problem I now have is getting my eating back on track properly because im NEVER hungry when im not high.... :///

Ive been smoking for about a year now. My meals are probably about 4500 calories per meal. Since January of this year, i started smoking a lot more, eating a about 5500 calories per meal. I've always eaten about 4500, since middle school I've been about 155lbs, though since smoking more and eating more, I an now a very emaciated looking 120, went from a 34 inch waist to a 28 in waist.

I've been a daily smoker of pot for about 3 years now. When I started I weighed 220lbs. Today I weighed myself and I the scale read, 185 lbs. I keep telling my self it can't be the weed. But what else could t be. I'm a33 year old Hispanic male I smoke pot I guess you could say alot. I started smoking because I was always in pain. My feet, my hands,my legs. Everything bone wise, hurt. I have gout. It sucks. I used to get it so bad I would cry in pain. I would go to the Dr and on bad attacks, the would give me hydocodone (I know I butchered that word. Sorry). They would take the pain away, put it would make me soo Ill. Bottom line no matter what I would do, even watched my diet. I went to the Dr last year, just for a check up. I asked about the weight loss. They drew blood, a couple days later they said everything is fine. Blood pressure ok, cholesterol good, kidneys no issue. I asked about the weight loss. And I qoute "keep doing what you are doing." so I kept puffing. so here iam. What do you think?
