This also happened to me! I am EVERY 28 days on the dot. Now I'm past day 42! I did have a couple days a week ago with a bit of spotting (which I have never had before). Last month I was 34 days... I just took a preg test and I'm fine. It is screwy, but I feel really good. I think it's just normal when you change something really drastically for you body to say "screw you!"

Same story here ... at the end of my first week in Phase 2 and lots of spotting and abnormal bleeding. I have PCOS, but am on BC to control it (I haven't had bleeding since starting BC a year ago) - so I suspect it's the diet.

I am so glad that I found this. I was worried. I am very regular with my pills. I take them at the same time every day. I am in the second week of Phase 1 South Beach and just started spotting and have cramps. I am not due to "start"for another two weeks. I usually eat very healthy and the SB diet is not a huge chane for me. I am wondering if it is just the complete lack of carbs that does this or if it is all the added protein and dairy. My usual diet is fruits and veggies all day and fish at night (no dairy/ no red meat). Any theories? At least I am not alone!

I have been on the South Beach diet for a month now and started experiencing daily spotting. I asked the nurse about it and was told that it is common to produce extra estrogen when loosing weight and that it will cause more bleeding or skipping cycles.

I have just started to have this problem over the last year....Everytime I diet, even an extremely balanced, healthy diet, I will get my period and it will not go away until I stop my diet. It made me anemic last year and I lost alot of hair....I have searched everywhere on the internet and this is the first time I have seen anything similar to what happens to me...

Does anyone know why this happens? Does anyone have any additional info that could help make this stop happening? I need to loose minimum 20 pounds and I am afraid of becoming anemic again...

THANK YOU!!!

This makes me feel alot better. I am on phase 2 of the south beach diet. i noticed that i was getting cramps and spotting way before i was supposed to get my period. spotting has been kind of normal for me but not the cramps. When i was supposed to get my actual period it was so light. It was almost like it was not there. It has been bothering me ever since. I have not taken a preg. test because i just figured it was the drastic diet change. It has been in the back of my mind though. I am glad i am not the only one that this is happening too. any suggestions on what i should do??

This has been very helpful. I'm on my second week of bc and started. It has been a few years since I did the South Beach Diet. It worked really well for me last time but I do recall it messing with my cycle. I've been cycling for 5 days already and showing no sgins of slowing down. This is Sooo frustrating. Is there anything I can take to get regulated, herbal or over the counter?
