i have passed kidney stones all of my life. thousands. some requiring lithotripsy others passing naturally. overall it is just amazing what a person can get used to. currently i have one the size of a golf ball in my right and three smaller ones 5-7mm in my left. i am like many of you tired of suffering and especially zonked on percocet as i wish to take nothing stronger lest i become addicted and develop problems far worse than pain.
I feel better knowing that there are others who struggle with adversity and troubles from under edumacated doctors who try to take out their incompetence by branding us as merely drug seekers. truth is i have taken every supplement, every medication, special diet and home remedy will still no results. I refuse however to give up on living life and trying to enjoy it! i have given up on medicine and whatever happens to me i have few regrets.
try smoking you know what! I may be barred from putting this up, but i actually forget that the pain is there and it helps nausea. Why not list it? aids and cancer patients use it, why not us who suffer with pains beyond normal people's reckoning? It may be better as it has no overdose dangers, non habit forming and relatively inexpensive with the right connections.

It is possible to die from a kidney stone if the affected kidney remains blocked and gets infected.  Fortunately, this is quite rare, but it can happen.  If having an attack, I agree its best to go to the ER.  Ask your physicians about 24 hour urine testing for a prevention analysis.  Once the causes have been determined, specific preventive and corrective treatments can be started. These include dietary changes, increased fluids, supplements, medications, etc.  The hard part is to find a physician with experience in doing this analysis because its fairly complicated and most doctors don't do it.

please go to the doctor with the stones. I have suffered from stones for 11 years now. Just recently, I have one that is 3.5 inches and is hung in the duct work of my right kidney. I have had lithrotripsy 1x then after that did not work, I had ureteric endoscopy and that didnt work. Now my kidney is failing and I am very very sick. I have to have another major surgery and possibly 2 more after that, and yes you can die from this!

I just turned 18 and for the pass 3 years i have suffered with kidney stones in both kidneys. My doctors didn't know what to do again. the pain is really bad i passed out a lot with it and don't even start with vomiting.I had that so bad that veins in my heart began to swell, my blood pressure was always high, i passed a lot of blood, and had lots of cramps in my feet, I was on oxygen at one time. it is really bad. I almost die, but thanks to a kidney herb from canada that saved my life. i am all better now with no kidney stone. i can finally start back school although i am so behind. Please people don't avoid kidney stones

Absolutely YES! Please do not risk your life. My previous post to another sufferer....

Hi, I have also passed hundreds of stones and had more than one hundred procedures to remove stubborn stones.  I have also delivered three sons naturally and currently have RA and fibromyalgia and disc problems in my back and suffer from diverticulitis.  I am no longer able to separate "pain" into the correct category. I almost died recently because of a blocked kidney, which after 3 months was infected and perilously near to bursting.  The only reason that I went to the ER was because breathing was causing pressure on the kidney and breathing seemed to be of paramount importance.  I still feel all of these pains but I can no longer differentiate a little pain (fibromyalgia) from a big pain (my kidney was dying). Please go to your ER for ALL of your pain because sometimes you may be in serious trouble. I have not become "used to pain" but I ignore it far too often. Please do not make the same mistake! Best luck to all who suffer any kind of pain.  Sufferer for 34 years!

I have a disease called medullary sponge kidney, in the last 3 months i have passed over 100 stones and still have many more left. Yes you can die from them if you get a bad infection or if they damage your kidneys. Your friend needs to go to the dr and continue her treatment.

I have been passing stones for 7 years now, last year I had 3 surgeries including a 6 hour major surgey where they had to replace 2 inches of my urethra due to damage from many large stones I passed. I also had 15-20 procedures in that same 6 months. I also had double kidney failure and became septic and almost died. The doctors in the ICU told me I was 6-8 hours from dying. This is all from kidney stones. And I have been on treatment for years. Your friend needs to continue treatment, take it from me, I have passed over 60 stones and some bigger then UofM specialists have ever heard of, and I keep fighting. I feel that this desease is so unknown to people still. It's very serious, and is very life threatening. Hopefully my story helps others. I hope one day there is more awareness for this brutal disease. I have never felt such pain in my life.
