I am 38. I had a myomectomy 2 years ago this month and I am 12 weeks pregnant with my first child. I went for an ultrasound today and everything looks fine. They saw one fibroid, but it's the one the doctor left because of its placement. I wasn't trying to get pregnant and it has really been a shock. I wish that I would have had the myomectomy earlier. My fibroids were having a terrible impact on my life. My menstrual bleeding was out of control and one of them would bleed after sex.
i had a 5 1/2 hour myomectomy to remove a 10cm submucoseal fibroid that had completely distorted the shape of my uterus in 12/08. had a second surgery in 5/09 to remove adhesions from the first surgery. i am now 19.5 weeks pregnant with my first child due in 7/10 soon after my 35th bithday. doc and i are planning a c-section as the uterine scar is large and rupture would be bad. i have had cramping throughout my pregnancy and i don't expect it to disappear due to the scarring. baby is growing and developing well. we're having our level 2 ultrasound this week.
I HAD A MYOMECTOMY ON FEB. 3.10. I'M PRAYING THAT I CAN GET PREGNANT IN AT LEAST 6 MTHS TIME TO ALLOW THE UTERUS TO HEAL PROPERLY. I WAS 4MTH PREGNANT LAST YEAR MARCH AND LOST MY BABY BOY DUE TO THE FIBOIDES. I REALLY HOPE AND PRAY THIS SURGERY INCREASE MY CHANCES OF CARRYING A BABY TO FULL TERM. AFTER READING THESE POST I KNOW THERE IS HOPE FOR EACH ONE OF US LADIES.
ladyr I know exactly how you feel. I lost my baby boy on Jan 4, 2010 and I'm scheduled to have my surgery on March 18th and losing my son was worst thing I have every went through in my life so far. I'm 32 years of age and have a 7 year old. I don't won't to sound selfish because I am very thankful to have her but I would also love to have more children. Reading these blogs really give me hope that I will get pregnant again and carry to term. I'm nervous because it is always what if's in the back of my mind. I believe in prayer so we will have to do that for each other!!!
I am 41years old....I had a myomectomy in May 2009 which was about 1/2 the size of a baseball, stuck right to the inside of the uterus. My husband & I have been trying to have a baby since 2007. We saw several specialists in Mexico when I was there as a last ditch effort to try to have a baby & find out what was wrong (& we live in 2 different countries-he lives in Mexico & I live in Canada part time & we have a home in Mexico so our time apart is sometimes months at a time) & am 36 weeks pregnant now....I must have gotten pregnant 2mo after the surgery! I thought I would never have children & almost gave up hope as I was due to return home after spending a year straight together & still not being pregnant. I was 2 weeks late for my period when I returned home in Sep 2009 to do some work here & depressed at not conceiving & then I found out I was pregnant...my beautiful little baby girl will be born next month! NEVER give up hope.
I am 34 years old and just had a robotic lap. myomectomy three weeks ago and by God's grace, I am healing very well. My first post-op appointment with my surgeon will be next week and I am looking forward to it. My hubby and I have been married for three years now and there was no sign of pregnancy even after going through a couple of fertility treatments. The process was emotionally draining and heartbreaking. All along my obgyn was aware I had fibriods but according to her, not big enough to be worried about until latter part of last year when they did another u/s and found out not only were the fibroids increasing in size but also increased in number. I was referred to a surgeon whom I am blessed happens to be one of the best in the country and scheduled me for my myomectomy which is now a done deal. I am grateful to God that the surgery was successful and even more hopeful that the good Lord who has brought me this far will see me through and answer my heart desire and Bless us with the fruits of the womb.
My faith has been lifted up after reading all the success stories from you ladies who have undergone myomectomy. God is faithful and I know that if He brings you to it, He will surely see you Through it. I know my success story will be next and I will be sharing with you as it happens because with GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Those of you pregnant and expecting your babies, Congratulations, I am happy for you, and those waiting for it to happen one day like myself, have Faith, Believe, because though it tarrys, it will surely come to pass and you will have a course to Celebrate. Your Season of Celebration, Laugher, Joy will surely come and one day, you will have your story to share.

I had a checkup on 28th February and my scanning results were very encouraging :D i have healed and am just waiting for some good months to give my uterus enough time to heal fully. At the mean time i can still feel numbness on the scar, will start looking after June. With these testimonies i have been encouraged and with the one above am sure it shall come to pass and it will be a different story wearing a big smile

Hi everyone, I am new to this site and hoping to find some info that helps; here's my brief story...I had DaVinci Robotic Myomectomy at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston 3/24--they removed 4 large fibroids--one of which was worriesome--but pathology revealed all was okay! Externally I am healing fine; I have discomfort internally and I still tire out easily. This is my second week back to work f/t and I come home daily worn out and feeling a little on the sad side (w/o really having a reason to be sad). Has anyone else experienced this? I am wondering if there are any women out there over 42 that have had the myo and have conceived. Did you have any concerns about being past 40 and giving birth? I would love to hear about your experience with getting/staying pregnant. Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
I am 36 and have a very large fibroid about 18 CM (like a 5 - 6 months pregnant women) and some other small ones. I am going to have the myomectomy surgery in June 2010 (in less than one month) and I am really scared. I always wanted to have a kid, but I wanted to get ready first; hopefully it's not too late. I will keep you guys posted on the outcome.
Your notes are extremely helpful, I feel much better now that I read your stories. Please keep posting them because you are helping a lot other women without knowing it. Again, thanks a lot!

Hello all! I have had two myomectomies. My most recent one was in December 2009 and by May 2010 I was pregnant. I am now 27 weeks pregnant. Everything is possible. Do not loose hope ;-) Be patient and think positively..good luck!
Hi. I had a myomectomy in Dec 2007. The fibroid was 12 cm in diameter and it was behind my womb. I had a lot of nerve damage and quite a bit of difficulty. In fact, I had internal bleeding and ended up with an open wound, a heck of an infection and having to go to the hospital everyday for over 3 weeks to have the wound cleaned. The doctor said I had to wait 3 years to try to get pregnant and that I must see a GYN at that time I was trying who will tell me if I can get pregnant. I later found out by another doctor who was in surgery that my womb was accidentally nicked during surgery in 2007. It took me more than 6 months to heal. The other docor insist that the nic was not really bad and he is quite confident I can get pregnant. Anyway, I have been trying to get pregnant for about 3 months now but nothing happens. I am 38 years and I am scared I will not have a baby. I sometimes have horrible period pains or PMS since the surgery. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get pregnant. We do not have the capacity in my country to deal with these issues as in bigger countries and it will be way too expensive to travel and have all these tests done. I have heard about taking herbs to clean out the womb and cause pregnancy. I am wondering if I am expecting too much wanting to get pregnant within 3 months of trying. But it is making me very anxious.
Hi good to hear the success stories of those that had myomectomys and have recovered and are pregnant or have had 3 children. I have just gone on NHS waiting list to have a myomectomy - not sure when I will get the letter. I know its a major surgery so not sure how long I will be off work and study - a little concerning.
I have diagnosis of enlarged uterus and multiple fibroids the doctors cant give a number of now many as they are inside, on the side and outside of the uterus and we have been trying for a baby for years.

I am 41 years old and have had three miscarriages since my myomectomy five years ago - the first one was a chemical. My myomectomy was much more serious than most. He removed five very large fibroids -two of them the size of grapefruits and the other three the size of small oranges. I am grateful for my doctor's talented hands as the surgery went well though he said I bled heavily.
To this day I'm not sure if its the scar tissue that has been causing my miscarriages - and inability to conceive for the past 18 months or if it's my lower egg quality as a result of my age - or both. I have also had two failed IUI's, and now am going to attempt IVF but I fear that it's all in vain since I may have trouble with implantation.
At least it's nice to read some success stories - though it appears it's mainly the younger women with only 1-2 fibroids removed that are reporting this.
