Hey, This is totally normal!I had mine out 1 and a half years ago. I was off work for about 2 months and couldn't do my normal sports for 2 and a half-3 months. You shouldn't be worried-it takes a long time to recover and you should be glad it takes a long time because getting back into things because if you rush your recovery you could rupture the stitches and scar. Even after how long i had it out, the area with the scar is still tender sometimes and hard.

I had my appendix removed on March 8th, it's almost been 5 months since my surgery and I still have pain in the area where my appendix was. I had a laproscopic procedure and thought this pain was simply the area healing. The actual incision areas don't hurt, but the lower right area of my abdomen does.
I had x rays done yesterday at an urgent care center because I feel the pain increasing and becoming more frequent and severe. I would think this pain would be subsiding, not increasing so severely. I was told that there are "medical clips" inside of me, I was told by a family friend who is a nurse that these clips are used sometimes during procedures but are not supposed to cause any sort of pain, so I may need a second surgery to have them removed. I'm not sure that these clips should have been left in there or if they're safe. I'm not looking forward to another procedure, I need to find out if these clips were intentionally left in there, and if so why my surgeon failed to inform me of them.
If you have a similar story please let me know what you did in your situation.

I had my appendix removed at the end of july.... Then about a week later I started getting alot of pain and they actually readmitted me for 8 more days.... They did a ct scan and it showed I had inflamation internally and my bowels were inflammed so they put me on antibiotics just incase I did contract an infection.... They did let me go home on August 13 and I started my meds at home on the 14th and it was 1 pill every 12 hours which made me so sick and made me sleep.... 14 days after my meds were done I started getting more pain in my stomach and just below my breasts.... I also have not had any type of appetite in 1 month and have did a # 2 in a month... I am contiplating on going back to the hospital (a different hospital) to get a second opion cause I can't deal with this and I dio not want any meds I just wana know whats up.....

Chest pain after appendix is removed is often because of the air the use while removing. It can last up to a couple weeks and at tome you may have a harder time breathing. Try slow breaths when this occurs.

hi i am a 22 year old female. i had my appendix removed laparoscopically 3 days ago. I had my surgery Sat night and was sent home Sunday afternoon. the doctor said i could go to work on monday and that i didnt need to change my diet.

I did not think it was a good idea to go back to work the next day ( im a phleb at a plasma donation center) so i am taking a week off of work..

I know my surgery was only 3 days ago and that im still healing. but since i came home i have not been able to shake off the nausea. i am nauseas from the minute i wake up.. so i sleep most the day to shake off the nausea. I also constantly get dizzy. and have not been passing much gas or burping ( which i know is needed since u get pumped up before surgery) i also get a sharp pain on my right shoulder and neck. ( it gets very strong at night) and when i breath to deep my ribs hurt alot.

i was given cypro., vicodine and flag. ( i also had a kidney infection).

is there anyway to lessen these symptons? are they normal? is there any reason to be conserned?

My mother is 45 and had her appendix removed last Thursday, a week from today ago.  She's been back to the hospital once due to extreme pain, and its been two days since that visit and none of the meds they gave her or that we have are helpful in the slightest.  Like many of you said, she had fluid build up, but also has a build up in her intestines, which is apparently the cause of the pain.  However, the prescribed no pain medication, only an enema to relax and let free the intestines -

she STILL has pain.  We don't want to take her back to the hospital for a THIRD time if they are just going to tell is its the same thing and send her home with more enemas or with nothing but 'fluid, don't worry's.  Can anyone tell me what I can go and buy at a local pharmacy for pain relief like this?  She refused to take any sort of pill around the house in fear of throwing up, and the narcotic that she DOES have doesn't do ANYTHING but make her stomach upset, no pain relief.

Please help. :c

hey, even i had my appendix removed and it has been about 4 years now, but when I do ab exercises I feel like some kind of staple pincs inside me, right where the incisiions were made, these guys at the hospital did a laparatomy and made an approx 12 cm incision, the skin at the place of incision has become hard, its weird.

I am 16 and had my appendix out 3 weeks ago. I was really walking great a few days ago, but all of a sudden I am feeling soreness by my lower right abdomen. i had the cuts in 3 places, around my bellybutton feels fine, lower left abdomen, fine, but my lowest one is causing a variety of dull to sharp pains throughout the day. it is the second day with it, and worse than yesterday. i also get the "wave" of pain over my stomach every hour or so. Is something wrong?
