Suspect that you are suffering from Blastocystis Hominis too. Should consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Everyone, please read, "The Maker's Diet" by Jordan Rubin, founder of Garden of Life. He had similar symptoms as many of you report here. It turned out he had many aliments with the biggest being Crohn's Disease. He nearly wasted away when he learned that his problem was a lack of the right bacteria in his gut. His intestinal flora was totally whacked. He had been to many medical doctors in this country and others, but no one diagnosed him correctly. Finally, a man did ( don't recall if he was an MD) and put him on regime of replanting the good bacteria into his body, eliminating bad foods, and eating whole foods. Jordan eventually recovered and was so taken with the impact of bacteria and whole foods on the body, he made it a goal to learn everything he could about health and start a company to help others with similar problems. Garden of Life became that company. You may have heard of it. The products are whole food supplements and the like.  Jordan recently sold Garden of Life and has started another company, actually becoming the grower of the foods himself.

I mention all this as an encouragement to those who have not looked into probiotics, digestive enzymes, and the effect of medications, antibiotics, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol on the digestive system. Once our good intestinal flora die, our bodies are overrun by the bad bacteria. We're born with the flora, we don't grow them. Once they die we must "replant" them or we never have them again. We'll suffer digestive issues the rest of our life until we put the good bacteria back in place. The normal healthy balance of 80% good bacteria to 20% bad bacteria is upset and the result is digestive problems and a host of possible diseases. Maintaining the right bacteria balance also puts our immune system in the best possible position to ward off other non-digestive related illness.

Check out his book. It's his story and how he healed himself. Your issue may not be directly caused by the same things that plagued Jordan, but he too stumped the doctors for years until he almost died. He was 16 when it came on and 19 when he was down to less than 100 pounds.

I took the advice in the book and eliminated constipation, bloating, stomach pain, fatigue, and a foggy brain. My energy level increased as well. It may not solve your problem, but it can't hurt to try it.

Hey guys! ive also been dealing with this pain for YEARS.  it only goes away when i sit or lay down and sometimes it doesnt even go away then....the only difference with me than from what ive been reading from everybody is i cant blame mine on eating. it happens when i eat and when i do no eat. ive had kidney stones and some otner kidney issues. ive been told this is gastritis and was put on an antibiotic and it did nothing. ive been hospitalized a few times now. a few years ago it would happen randomly and not severely but now if i literally do not take a vicadin everyday i cannot function...and im only 21. and sometimes that doesnt even do it...ive been to sooo many doctors and have tests done at every one and everything comes back normal but there is nothing normal about this. im kinda lost at this point...its even affectiong my job...i have to sit down every twenty mintues or ill be on the floor in a ball for hours.

I have the same issue, and although the doctors are uselessat finding the cause...I have found somethings that help prevewnt and minimise the pain:

If the pain is in the middle of the abdomen (above the bellowbutton, sort of in between the lungs), and feels like a spasm or shar pain - take a large gulp of Gaviscon. It takes the pain away within 15min. I don't know why...perhaps because it acts as a mild antispasmodic. Alternatively, just keep some holistic antispasmodics in your bag/pocket/wallet and take one before you eat.

To prevent the bloating and general/lower abdominal pain, i take a capsule of peppermint essential oil every morning (or adding a few drops into luke warm water, then drinking it before going out for a meal). This has kept the pain at bay 99% of the time.

Hope it helps

Hi everyone, please help

My 21 year old daughter is having pains started on the 11th of may 2012, at around 8:00 pm, she was with friend and when they found her she was coiled on the floor with severe pain in middle of upper abdomen and lower chest area ( in between) she felt gassy and bloated too, she did have her period the same day but she gets cramps but they are normally on the bottom of lower abdomen.

She said it was not her normal period pains the girls gave her panadol rapid and 4 hours in pain it vanished, only to come back at 6:00 am in the morning the next day 12th may 2012 . which she did not tell me.

30th May 2012, did not go to work as wan't feeling herself by 4:30 she had to call a friend to drive her to the doctors as she had the same pains again sever her friend found her coiled up in pain when she came to pick her up went to the doctors . doctor asked her to go to emergency after been there till 11:00 pm they called us in the pain would come and go but she was feeling really bloated, gassy and gets hungry too, nauseated feeling, but did not vomit, they did nothing after all that time just sent us home and said it is IBS type of pain, never ever had this type of pain ever before, looked at IBS symptoms they say it is constipation or mucosy stools, she goes to the toilet once every three days but this day she went about 5 times the stools were just soft but not diarohhea, nor mucosy, all she had was some left over fried rice that was bought from the chinese shop the day before. We ate it the previous day but not the next day except her,

I am worried sick she does not look too well, no temps, even though 36.9celcius normal,

Had pains on 31st May 2012 and took her back to the doctors, my GP who is running test for Celiac disease please for give spellings, Iron, lft, c reactive protein, cholestrol sugar, etc. I am so worried she is getting really upset and iratable too,

Tomoorw she has a MRI need to drink barium but she is also having a sore throat, and not sure if she should drink the stuff, she feels hugry, but gets bloated, could it be a bug,

She used to get stiches or pains on left side of abdomen for last two years that comes and goes did a scan and on ovaries and it was alright, she also passed blood in stools which was like a period bright red, around the same time december 30 2010, doctor did internal on rectum said it mst have been a tear, she said she was a bit constipated at the time and she had it once more during that time and said nothing since the doctor has not done a stool test as yet, she gave aher a buscopan injection which helped with the cramps, and gave gavascon to take for blotiness which she has been taking.

1st june 2012, went for fasting blood test today, and after that she had a up and go drink and complained of slight pain took two gavasons, and again she took another 2 after dinner as she had noodles with carrots, leaks silverside a couple of pieces with mixed with mince meat, and said that she felt bloati and gas.

Could these previous stich like symptoms since 2010 have aggevated the problem, I just dont know what to do. and feel so helpless any informaiton would help please

Mys sisters had gall bladder problems but their were like pains that started and went to the middle of the chest and to the back and the scan showed that they had gall stones, could gall stones cause , bloating and gas problems too, her pains were in middle of the upper abdoment and lower chest (in between) any help or answers please

Hi,

The pain is gone most of the time.
The peppermint oil in warm water is really helpful for the bloating and general pain after eating - if possible try sit when you eat, and remain seated for at lest 20minutes after eating. Try not drink or eat things that are too hot or too cold. And don't eat fast.
If you can get some Gaviscon at the pharmacy, maybe give it a try- it is recommended for hearburn, but seems to act as a fast acting anti-stasmodic as well...just a tablespoon and within about 15min or so the cramping tends to stop. It also started when I was in highschool, but has been much better since I learnt how to handle it.
Also try a yoga class- i know it sounds bizarre, but they concentrate on breathing, and i've found that although breathing deeply (expanding the stomach) is painful, it helos tremendously...especially if you consciously take deep breaths when you are not in pain.
No MRI or xray or anything else has helped.
I hope your daughter is ok.
