Late I know but it might be a  canker sore, I have gotten them since I was a child. Canker Sores are not Cold Sores.  Doctors don't know exactly what causes canker sores, but it is found out that canker sores appear when eating or drinking citrus, nuts, and even change of weather, or if you have any work done (I used to get them all the time after the orthodontist appt)... and I don't eat a lot of citrus but when I do, I usually get a canker sore... most of the time they appear in the inside of your mouth, white with a thin red circle around it and hurts.  Should clear up in about a week.  For the outside of your mouth (that is not a cold sore it doesn't even look like a cold sore) could be a pimple or could be a canker sore.  Believe me I have been getting them for as long as I remember, inside and outside my mouth asked my dentist about them, asked my doctor.... and I wasnt having sex when I was like 10 soooooooo.  Also been tested for herpes a year ago and a few months ago and I still don't have it, so if it were in my body they would have found it even if it were dormant.

There is a difference between pimples and cold sores. I do understand people being confused especially if they only get a small little bump. However, from years of experience and looking into the facts im pretty sure a pimple being popped cannot cause a cold sore. A cold sore is herpes simplex vurus which is a Virus. Either you have it or you don't. I too get "cold sores" bc I was stupid enough to not listen to my mom and I drank from my friends drink. Basically if your not sure go to the doctor. A simple blood test can tell you yes or no! Knowing if it is a sore can totally eliminate the occurance of a "breakout." I hope all of you do persue finding out the truth behind your occuring pimple or sore.

Your talking about canker sores not cold sores

Actually it is the same. Herpes comes in two types, 1 or 2 and while 1 is more commonly just the cold sores, it can cause genital outbreaks also. Type 2 is more common for genital herpes outbreaks but causes cold sores sometimes also.

Allergies can cause oral sores. If one has an allergy to nuts or any specific food, a sore, or sores, can manifest as a result. If you had done very much research, you would know this. I have yet to find a medical journal or credited professional that will argue this.

recently i had the same thing. just a bit higher on the opposite side. I am aware that you could not have a cold sore in years though i panicked about having one. i can't recall if i have had one before. the following morning i woke up with the same white yellow puss filled red bump on my cheek. i had about 4 on my face. i call the dr thinking if it goes any higher i could get blind. i was really worried and scared. the dr took a look and said they were papules. acne. i got prescribed some antibiotics and most including my other acne cleared up in less than 10 days. since i didn't pop the one near my lip, i still kind of have a little raise bump. sometimes i get an occasional itch near my mouth i begin to worry it could be something else. that looks like puss not fluid. i have very fine "mustache" hair near my lip too since i don't wax weekly. you could get a pimple where ever hair grows. that red swelling was on my skin. which made it look so nasty. i have been reading for a cure. scientist are hopeful. I think since the pimple is so close to the lip sensations are stronger.and more sensitive. do you agree?

This spot i say comes from being stressed and run down and lack of vitamins..and feeling nervous and worried In my experience herpes forms on lower lip corner first and becomes en flamed itchy and tingly. And will crust over with puss fluid .. If u get this spot on ur lip like this pic don't try pop it till u see a head or it just make it swell n feel uncomty. i have one cos I've been very stressed and worried over last few weeks..wash with a creamy soap like dove and apply some aftershave.

This is not a cold sore, but an ingrown hair, shave with the grain rather then against it then shave sideways to the grain, this will get you a good shave without letting the hair get cut so short that it is under the skin, ( which can happen especially in that area if you shave against the grain.) as you get older, throughout your life, your facial hair will get coarser, so even if you shaved against the grain for maximum closeness in your teens and early twenties, you may need to employ the directional shave method in your late twenties or early thirties, which helps to prevent these ingrown hairs AKA razor bumps. Good luck.

As many have said before this looks to be nothing more than an ingrown hair. I have had cold sores and also have had ingrown hairs like what is pictured. I get these quite often around my lips because of either excess oil buildup or an ingrown. I have thick hair and when my facial hair started coming in thicker these started popping up. I usually pop them and sometimes if I look with a light there is a very fine hair I have to tweeze. After having to tweeze these tiny hairs multiple times it seems like it occurs less frequently. I used to get them every few weeks or so and now maybe I will see one once every 3 or more months. Trust me you will recognize a cold sore and this is not one.

it may not be cold sore though it could be a number of things "ingrowth hair, pimples, fordyce spot..." best way to know is to go and get a test on it!

Amazing how ignorant some peoples responses are, that is HSV1 which is oral herpes or other wise known as cold sores/fever blister etc. Don't believe me, please go get tested for herpes and you will see. I bet prior to you getting that sore, you had a tingling feeling under lip and now when it comes about it is extremely sore, generally last for about a week before going away. Don't stress, over 60-80% of Americans have oral herpes and don't know it! It's really not as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be.

herpes is a viral infection and does not stimulate the production of white blood cells (puss) acne is a bacterial infection which DOES stimulate the production of white blood cells (puss) if it has a white head (puss), its a pimple
