The ringing sounds like you have tinnitus
Reply

Im glad I came across this website.

I have had the same problem for as long as I remember - every time i yawn....my ears would pop. Normally pinching my nose and blowing would equalize the pressure and ill be able to hear but there are times that I would go either completely deaf (dull sensation) or everything is loud.

I was given a steroid nasal spray that works occasionally depending on the severity of the issue.

Its highly frustrating and very hard to explain to a GP. I've had trouble in work with hearing people talk and responding etc it makes me feel withdrawn at times.

I've just read this and it's so relatable - I've had this for as long as I can remember!

This is so incredibly enlightening to read all of these posts! I've also had this problem since I was very little. I was even teased in elementary school for this. While it's very annoying, for me is very manageable on a day to say basis. Every time I yawn my ears pop out, I promptly just suck in and my hearing returns to normal.

The only problem I currently have is I'm stuck with this cold and my ears have been out for 4 days now. It hurts to talk and I can barely hear. Does anyone know what can be done to relieve this issue so I can pop my ears back? I've been taking cold medicine that helps with congestion, but I still can't pop my ears back. Can anyone help?

I was prescribed this nasal spray (Avamys) - it does help but doesn't take it completely away

I have the same thing going on for over a year on and off. But now its all the time! I am constantly sniffing to make my ear pop! Sometimes it hurts other times it doesn't but its super uncomfortable! I don't know if my ears are clogged or what! If you have any idea what this is and how to stop it please let me know! Thanks soooo much!!

I've always had exactly the same problem. i only need to sniff to make them go 'in' now. but when i have a cold, they're closed or open for weeks before eventually returning to always popping and going back in. I also have tinnitus since i was a child. Doesn't bother me anymore though.

Hi this is really useful, mine is indeed more of a click than a pop and I can do it at will. Just annoying when I get a cold and it gets stuck. thanks for sharing this.

I'm the same and amazed that so many people have the same issue I'm constantly sniffing but my wife thinks I'm crazy when I say my ears pop constantly...I'm 30 and had this issue for many years. Please let me know what the Doctor says I also have a vibrating noise in my right ear that really gets to me

Oh my goodness! I thought everyone was on the same boat as me until I saw your post. You listed ringing in the ears, which I feel just started when I turned 40, constant sniffing to pop my ears back into place as I say and there is a tenderness in my right inner ear. I keep thinking it's because of wax build up but I've lived with my ear popping ever since I was little I'm sure. It's just until recently it's become very annoying cause I feel like they won't stay in place! I even thought that I'd let my ears pop where you can hear everything like in a tunnel but my voice is too loud in my head and that does not feel comfortable to me. I'm hoping you've gotten some answers since this post. Please share if you have.
