I'm losing my mind. I itch so terribly that I am injuring myself with the rubbing and scratching.  The docotes have no clue. On even told me that "I'm too clean in the area," and that I have a compulsive habit of cleaning and scratching.

Hi ladies, I have had this terrible burn it goes from my vulva to my rectum. I have had many examinations made and have come up with nothing. In the morning I feel better and in the afternoon it starts getting worst. I have wondered if it could be my vains but the doctor says they are alright I also had an exam to see if they are my nerves. They sent me cortisone and estrogen in cream sometimes I feel a little bet better but it comes back. Now I am visiting a psychologist and the doctors recomend that I check de pelvic floor. I am desperate if you come back with an answer please let me know

I have had the same thing for over a year now. I've gone the 4 GYN doctors, one of which told me to go to a psych doctor because I was imagining the pain. I was told by all but one doctor this is vulvadynia. They really don't know how it starts or how to treat it. I was given amitriptyline, an antidepressant, which is given to cancer patients to help deaden nerve endings. This only made me sick. Estes cream which only makes me burn more. I also saw a dermatologist which was embarrassing. She and one GYN gave me the amitriptyline. I've tried all creams you can possibly think of. Here is what works best for me. Many years ago a doctor talked to me about yogurt. I was so desperate. Buy pain Greek yogurt and apply to the burning area. The coldness of the yogurt helps lots. This can be applied as often as needed. Does not stain and has helped me. Also there is no odor. I wash with plain water and do my underwear separate with hot water and an extra rinse cycle and use Tide soap for laundry for sensitive allergy free. Good luck.

I have the exact same problem...vaginal itching and burning, but no yeast or BV infection. My urine culture showed nothing more that a slightly elevated protein level. The doctor is clueless as to the cause, as well. I'm thinking it may be some sort of allergic reaction, but who knows? I've been trying everything for the last six weeks, but nothing works. Please leave a post if you find out anything, and I'll do the same.

Hi all, I stumbled upon this thread while doing some internet searching. I had a similar issue 3 years ago and it took me a good 1.5 years. Between seeing more than seven different gyn's, taken all sorts of into-fungal treatments including Duflican, which made me sick, and going the natural treatment route, I finally got some help from someone on a forum. As it turn out my problem was damage to the pudendal nerve during childbirth (it can also happen from anything else, a bad fall on your butt, excessive cycling). Some of my symptoms were vaginial burning, anal burning, white or yellow discharge, a feeling of having something stuck inside the vagina, feeling aroused without desire, and raw filing of the vagina. To make the story short I saw a specialist who was able to properly diagnose my problem and treated accordingly. I am so much better. I saw a specialist in Maryland, Dr Richard Marvel, who prescribed a solution of steroid and clindamicin and gave me advice as to what activities i should and what not do. Basically I had pudendal nerve damage which can create most of the symptoms in this thread. I hope I helped someone, best of luck to you all...

Hi there, I like you used to feel better in the mornings and then as the day progressed I would get all sorts of symptoms. I was diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia. It turned out that when I would sleep my nerve would calm down and would wake up better, but through out the day I would stretch the nerve by bending over, sitting etc. so it would aggravate it again. I was told to use a special cushion for pudendal neuralgia, and to also limit the bending over. Have you seen a pelvic pain Dr. I was told by many gyn's that it was in my head and even a urologist accused me of being a junkie after seeing my medical records... SMH... now I am much better. lots of luck to you, and everyone..

I am in the same boat as you!I believe the reason it is worse starting in the late afternoon is that more fluids comes out of the vagina and they burn us more.I hope we get some help soon.

D-Mannose is THE safest and best way to get rid of a UTI. Don't use antibiotics. They mess up your whole system for a VERY long time

Hey ladies, sadly I understand your pain and have experienced this often myself. I have started drinking D-Mannose whenever I feel like it might start up or if it has already started up. It is a white powdery substance that is like powdered sugar. It is extracted from the cranberry and is part of the reason why cranberries are so good for us. It isn't very expensive, I order it on Amazon but a lot of other places have it. You can put it in tea or juice but I like to just add it to my water. It takes a few minutes but then I start to feel amazing relief.

This has saved me from tons of trips to the doctor, lots of medicines, and the pain!! If I am feeling really bad I will take two ibprofen and a bit of the powder in my water. Then I lay down if I can but it goes away so quickly that it even helps when I am at work. Just thought you all should know!

I have been getting a strange tingling feeling around my vulva and sometimes (seldom) rectum for the past month, however for the last two weeks this has concentrated to a burning feeling on the left side of my vulva. The pain gets progressively worse throughout the day and can be debilitating at times, between work and university. Having sex does not hurt, if not it feels a little better. I've tested negative for STDs and visually everything looks fine aside from being a little red, it does not hurt to touch but can be quite tender.
I'm familiar with vulvodynia and vulval pain and am really interested in actually finding out what it is and healing it, opposed to concealing the symptoms as most medications do. I have just started taking Calcium citrate and am already feeling a little better, although who knows what tonight will bring. Has anyone tried St John's Wart? I have also heard that physical therapy helps relax the muscles that could be constricting nerves.... The most frustrating this of all is getting the run around by doctors and gynos, spending so much money with little insight into what is actually causing this.

Hello Ladies. I read these posts and wanted to share my experience. I am post-hysterectomy since 2006 and want to share two experiences. Tired of years of vaginal burning, I realized that a lot of the burning seemed to happen after using the bathroom throughout the day. I narrowed it down to Costco's white toilet paper and have discovered other women complaining as well of vaginal and rectal burning after using it. I thought I was going crazy, no offense to Costco. I now use Seventh Generations unbleached (pale brown color) toilet paper and it's a bit more expensive but the burning did in fact, stop. I also want to share 8-9 years of severe dryness which prompted me to look around on line for products. I found a company called Yes Yes Yes (sounds hokey but they are a real company in the UK). Their products are amazing for personal daily lubricant (water-based) as well as something to use during intercourse if needed. I am 62 years old and couldn't wait to receive these products and try them out! The employees are kind, knowledgeable and can answer any questions and concerns. Their products are not sold in the US directly. They are pure, non-irritating, no fragrances, natural. Hope this helps some of you find relief for burning and dryness. The itching? For me it was all yeast related unfortunately. Take care, Everyone...
