I am a 50 year old woman that has been dealing with being nauseous a lot of the time for years now. When I was younger, I would mostly feel nauseous in the morning, but now it just strikes me at any time without notice. One day I will be fine and the next I will feel sick again, sometimes for a few hours or sometimes the entire day. I never know what will set me off, but it is something I just live with. I don't even like telling my husband when this happens since he doesn't take me seriously, feeling I am always nauseous so it is probably nothing. I think the only time he would actually believe that I am sick is if I were to throw up, which I absolutely hate doing and will avoid at all costs if I am able to. Taking xanax, which is a drug to help relax me sometimes helps, but not always and sometimes it will just put me to sleep so I can try sleeping through the feeling.

After reading some of the posts on this forum, I realize that I am not alone or abnormal as I once believed I was since I don't know many people in my position.

I'm a 31 yr old female and I've had nausea for years, but for the past year it's been far worse. It hits me whenever, with no obvious pattern. I get hot flashes, migraines, and sometimes tingling and numbness in my arms and legs. Or I'll suddenly have itchy skin. I've been told before that I have fibromyalgia, and tinea versicolor. It just seems like everythings hitting me all at once now. I was getting abdominal swelling and sharp pains in my side. They found a "lump" on my right ovary that they said wasn't a cyst, but they didn't know what it was. I tried to take BC pills but they just made me sicker and after trying a few brands I just stopped taking them. The follow up ultrasound showed that the lump disappeared.
I don't get the sharp pains as often. The biggest problem right now is the nausea!!! It can be so debillitating.
And it strikes at such weird times, like if I'm just chatting on the computer or watching a movie (these aren't stressful things to do!) or going for a drive with my bf. Sometimes it's worse when I eat, sometimes it's not. Sometimes it comes with gas, or I feel full a lot when I've only had a couple bites or haven't eaten at all. The doctors are useless. They can't tell me what's wrong and sometimes when I've gone to the ER (it's been that bad, and can even be painful and make me dizzy and make it hard to stand), they brush me off or tell me to go home and drink Gatorade! That's one expensive degree they've got there to just tell people nothing, or tell you less than you can find on the web!
I've thought maybe all of this is hormonal, especially since I'm getting migraines now too, and because of the hot flashes, but they keep telling me I'm in "normal range". I'm disgusted with the health care system. One doctor told me that it was normal for some people to have numbness and tingling all their lives and I should get used to it. WHAT???!!! I'm way too young to have to stay home because I'm too sick to have a life. I want a healthy relationship, a career, want to start a family. And I'm tired of laying in bed all the time. I'm looking for a work at home job now and there ain't much out there that doesn't cost you money to begin with. I used to have energy to go to school and work 2-3 jobs. I can barely work a part-time schedule now, so I'm terrified of taking a full-time job only to get fired for taking to many sick days (again). And OMG people treat you like you have plague when you're sick all the time!
I can't believe how many people, of all ages and both genders have this problem too. You would think more people, especially doctors, would take constant nausea more seriously. How much does it cost society to have so many people crippled by something that we can't figure out? I can't find relief. I've taken antibiotics, tried acidophillus. Right now I live on Pepto Bismol, Excedrin, and cold wet washcloths on my forehead and neck. I keep the room dark and pray that there's something good on tv and some dream job will call and tell me I can work from home *sob* At least I know I'm not alone....Thank you to everyone who posted something on here.

I went thru a scary phase where I had nausea constantly. It was due to a high fat and high salt diet with severe restriction of carbs. I have a combo form of hypoglycemia where I feel better when eating carbs. I eat high saturated fat carbs for slower absorption and that completely reversed the nausea. (ie chocolate, high fat ice cream from the health food store, without additives or chemicals) I also lost weight. This worked for me. Everyone is different. Good luck.

I'm a 39 yr old male suffering from constant nausea, off and on, for about 9 years. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I really don't believe blood sugar is the cause. Some days I wake up feeling great and others I feel sick all day. Rarely throw-up, but often I come really close. Back in 2000, I lost around 40lbs and the docs said it was all in my head. I could not eat anything for days. I have become pretty good at hiding it from my wife, but I would like to tell her someday. Many sleepless night and daily struggles. Hopefully we can figure it out and lives normal lives again someday.

I'm a 31 year old male and suffer from many of the symptoms described in this thread. Like many of you, I went to the doctor to be assessed only to have him tell I had an anxiety disorder; essentially, it was all in my head. I suppose it's possible as I live/work in a fairly stressful environment, but I honestly think he is mistaken. Whatever this disease is, it's brutal. During an attack, the right hemisphere of my brain feels extremely active, i.e. the hair would stand on end on that side of my head, I'd feel an almost electrical sensation travel midway down my spine and then get a strong pulse in my gut, similar to butterflies in the stomach only more intense. Then breathing becomes difficult, I feel like I'm being smothered/suffocating. It's like walking into a wall of heat! I even feel the rest of my body heating up. My face becomes flush and a ridiculous amount of phlegm builds up in my throat and no matter what I do, it won't go away. I'm barely functional as it is right now and it's very frustrating. If any of you are experiencing these symptoms, try chewing on a small piece of ginger or tamarind during or before the attack. This has provided me with some relief. What has also worked for me, oddly enough, has been plugging both nostrils and breathing through my mouth instead.

Best wishes for a permanent resolution.

I was having the same issue for about 1 year straight and tried almost everything (doctors couldn't help, home remedies did nothing) until I started smoking marijuana. Since I've been smoking marijuana, I haven't had any issues with feeling like throwing up immediately after and during eating (each bite was a mission to get down). I've been smoking marijuana for 2 years straight and haven't had any issues, until recently I stopped and now I'm having troubles eating again. Will be getting back to it shortly, but I'm going to see a new doctor first (that's why I quit for a bit).

It might not be a solution for all, but I'd recommend checking it out. If not smoking, there are plenty of other ways to get the desired results.

I felt embarrassed eating with friends/family in public because I would only eat a small portion of my plate and then have to take it back home. I'm not sure what's causing it, and it's probably different for everyone... but nonetheless, I wish everyone the best of luck in treating their symptoms.

I don't want to hijack the thread with the pros/cons of marijuana use or whether you should do it or not. Do the research yourself, it's not for everyone but for what it's worth it works for me.

I am a 46 year old female.
My constant nausea began about three months ago.
I was feeling ill, with no appetite, chills, weird head rushes, itching, and heart palpitations, so I went to my doctor. He told me I was probably having panic attacks! Well, I didn't buy it, and refused drugs for it. I did agree to try a low dose birth control pill because the doctor said my symptoms may be perimenopausal. I have heavy periods, as well, so the doc said the pill would help. I went back three more times within two weeks, because I was still feeling really strange, and a blood test revealed I had anemia!
Okay, by now, I am a bit nauseated, and when looking online, nausea can be a sign of anemia. So, I go on iron supplements. I get even more nauseated. The doctor puts me on 5 iron injections instead, because they don't have to pass through the stomach. I get all 5 within one week. I get even more nauseated.
One month after my last iron injection, I go to the doctor and he says my nausea cannot be from the iron. So, I go off the pill, thinking that must be what's causing the nausea! I get excited, because I figure it must be that!
Well, it's two months later, and most days I am SO sick to my stomach, it's almost beyong belief. I'm on the verge of throwing up alot of the time. I wish I knew what the hell is happening. I can hardly eat anything, and if I do, I get full really fast and feel like I'm going to die. I've lost about 5 pounds, which is alot for me, being only 110. Eating doesn't make me any sicker, though, it's just not very pleasant. Eating used to be such a pleasure for me. I was what is called a 'big eater'. I was always hungry. Now, I haven't been hungry in so long, I've forgotten what it feels like. I'm so sad about it. It actually makes me want to cry. Eating is one of the joys of life
I can hardly play golf with my husband, go camping, or do anything, really. I go to the grocery store or do other simple errands as fast as I cn, so I can hide my nausea from other people.
I don't know what I'm going to do. I know some people have things alot worse than me, but this is MY reality, now. And it absolutely SUCKS!!
I've read online about nausea possibly being a perimenopausal symptom, but I just can't wrap my head around that. It's all too coincidental with the birth control pill and the iron.
I also, all of a sudden, have a swallowing sort of acid reflux problem, that I never had before. Man.
Anyone wanna weigh in? I'm so scared.

I HAVE SAME ISSUES!! PLEASE READ BELOW IT COULD HELP YOU ALOT!

hi im a 18 yr old male and i have had nausea problems as long as i can remember. its really one of the most frustrating things that can happen to someone and i feel the pain that most of the people on this message board can relate to. let me tell you some of my nausea problems. its soo frustrating because i had a bad case of it when i was younger and it slowly went away on its own and has recently tried coming back but im trying to fight it off.

when i was younger i had a really bad problem with food. i lovee food but when i am around a lot of people like at resteraunts or places with strong odors, i always had to go to the bathroom and feel like throwing up or i had to go outside because i felt sick. i really dont know why that happened. it went away on its own for a while and then it came back to me recently. i work at a coffee shop and i always had an amazing lunch and came back to work and everything was cool but recently for no reason the strong smell of food made me run to the bathroom. it was a nightmare.

also, when i am really excited/nervous, it comes back!! like when i am with my girl, and ill have to take a break from kissing her cuz i would feel nervous that i would throw up, i dont know why there was no reason to in the first place.? but i noticed that when my throat gets really dry from constantly spitting, because i noticed i made more and more saliva the more i was nauseous, i get the gag reflex again. its really annoying.. thats why i always carry a water bottle with me so my throat is cool and my stomach to calm down.

also, when i am in the back of a car after eating with my buddies i fear that i would throw up and thinking that made me have gag reflexes.. i know its really messed up.

i was told by a lot of people that its nerves, and that i get nervous a lot soo what i started doing would be thinking strongly to my self thAT NO! i wont throw up and i kept telling myself that nothing was wrong and i could overcome the gag feeling.

i prayed to GOD that this would stop because i want to live a normal lifestyle and this is so unfortunate that it happens to people like myself!

ONE DAY!!!!!! i decided to go into a walgreens and check out anything they had for nausea. i asked a guy at the medical center there what he recommended me. i told him my symptoms and he recommended me an over the counter product that WORKS!!! EXTREMELY WELLL!

ITS CALLED MOTION SICKNESS RELIEF!! its the walgreens brand and it says compare to BONINE! THEy are chewable MECLIZINE tablets that i take usually once a day and they seem to work all day!!!

before i had no appetite and these made me want to go eat out to lunch with my girl and have fun and they didnt make me nervous anymore around her and i could eat and go back to work!!!!

THIS IS THE BEST THING SO FAR THAT I HAVE TRIED!! I RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO USE IT!! ITS ONLY 4-5 BUCKS!! please if it helped me and you guys out there have to same symptoms i highly recommend you use this it will make you feel soo much better! hope it helped and good luckk! please if it worked reply to this message because i want to know if it makes your nausea go away too.

I get it mostly in the mornings. Usually I go through periods of it though, few months I will be fine and than I won't eat barely for weeks. Which at my weight is not an option because I'm only 53kg so a couple of weeks with only a few bits a day make me lose weight quick.
Like others I'v had the camera and nothing....the only things I think it can be is anxiety or back problem that I have. I know for a lot of you it might sound a bit outrageous but I find when I can't eat, marijuana helps with appetite mangerly, so you can keep on weight. But you should probably stay away from that if you have anxiety.

I am so happy to hear that I am not alone in this! This started 2 years ago for me and then I got pregnant with my daughter and all the symptoms went away. I thought I was cured but it all came back about 3 months ago and it is horrible! I can't do anything anymore. I can hardly go to the grocery store and the though of taking my kids out of the house with me is just unbearable. To top things off, I am pregnant again and can't eat the way I should because of the nausea. I keep hoping that this pregnancy will cure me like my last one did but so far I'm not having any luck with it. Being 22 I should be having the time of my life but all I wanna do is crawl under a rock and sleep until I can go back to having a normal life! ugh!

I stumbled upon this looking for a possible answer to my recently discovered nausea! Good to see i am not alone in this...the one thing i could maybe suggest would be to try taking acidophilus. I began taking it when i was young and we discovered that i was lactose intollerant - it is the same active ingredient that is in yogurt haha it really does help to cure some of my stomach aches so maybe it will help some of you(:

I have had constant nausea for the last 5 months now and I'm starting to really get worried. Morning, night, before eating, after eating, sitting around, moving about, doesn't matter it's literally constant. Only difference being the level of the nausea, sometimes highly, other times not so bad. I have been told that it could possibly be simple gas that is causing it but before I get stuck with having to take anti gas meds everyday for life I'd like to know if anyone else has had this and was able o control/cure their constant nausea with simply taking anti gas meds??
