I'm having the same problem!! I just started taking birth control this week for the first time because I have very painful irregular periods so I really would prefer not to stop taking the pill at that. It hurts to sit down sometimes, it burns terribly on the outside of my vagina like right on the vestibule/remaining hymen tissue it's constantly sore if i sit or fall hard but it doesn't burn until it comes into contact with anything acidic, like sex hurts a little but once i start to get wet or ejaculate or when i try to pee the burning becomes unbearable. like i laughed a little too hard and a tiny bit of pee came out and i was floored with pain as if someone took a knife to the tissue just to the side of the opening of my vagina and scraped it. I'm so scared now to go to the doctor because i know its not a uti, year infection, or std and I just want it to stop. It feels like lemon juice on raw skin. I hope that the pain goes away soon and i know if i tell a doctor i just started birth control and thats around the time when the pain started they will tell me that thats the problem even though its not. I also have been having migraines and slight muscle pains recently so i have been taking lots of tylenol, not like more than recommended but when it wears off i proceed to act drunk and feel fluid in my head, but then taking tylenol stops the pain. I'm away from home at college and I don't know where to go to even see a real doctor about this. I feel like if this was a real serious problem the tylenol would not be stopping the symptoms so effectively. My new boyfriend is a touring musician and time together is precious i feel terrible that sex hurts a bit now. we tried different positions and he won't go on if he's hurting me. downward dog actually was pretty effective at getting him to avoid the burning spot too. The pain started in the center lower area and now has centralized itself on the lower right area. Someone please help :(

I am not a doctor, but I took this class in school. This conversation was discussed, has anyone had their partner checked? I only ask, because while women can take antibiotics for vaginal infections, men can get them as well, although they are not vaginal infections to them. Men are A-symptomatic, and will not show signs. Women can get rid of it, but the men will continuously give it back to you if they are not treated as well.

I found this discussion a month ago when I started having burning pain during intercourse. My story was so similar to the ones I was reading and I was so worried it would become an issue for the next several years, as seems common among women here. The best advice I found was regarding oxalates in the urine. Oxalates are tiny crystals that can cause small cuts and tears when the urine flows over the sensitive tissues. I did some research on the best foods to eliminate and I decided to cut out wheat products and black tea. I also started taking calcium citrate pills, the citrate helps bind the oxalates and keeps them from causing problems. To be safe, I also started eating two servings of a probiotic yogurt everyday. In addition, I found out that the tampons I use contain rayon, which can cause small cuts in the vagina. I've switched to using a DivaCup, which is smooth plastic and does not cause irritation.
The good news is, after less than a month, I am 99% pain free!! My husband and I still take it slow at the beginning of sex, but the difference is so significant! Now, this may not work for everyone, but I hope it will help someone! Good luck!

OMG!!! You wrote EXACTLY everything I'm experiencing. My doctors have asked me all of the same questions and I have responded just as you have. I am DESPERATE for a solution. I used to love having sex, and now I am so scared to even try. This has been going on for almost 2 years. I have tried everything, even got off the pill and now have an IUD. If you ever figure out what is going on please let me know! It's getting to the point where I feel like my doctors don't believe or understand the discomfort I feel during sex EVERY single time. I just want things to go back to normal! :(

I am having the same problem. 5 months ago I started to have burning feelings during sex (at penetration and during thrusting), and constant itching and some burning not during sex on my vulvar area. I do not have STDs, I do not have a bacterial infection, I have had yeast infections treated. I tried putting vitamin e oil and baby lotion (dessatin) on the exterior which helped some but does not anymore. Pain with or without condoms is the same. I started taking a probiotic pill 2x day a week ago, and washing my vaginal area with a vinegar/water mixture instead of soap, and using hypoallergenic soap and detergent, and this helped some but still not with intercourse. I have seen six GYNs and those who believed I actually had pain did not have really any suggestions. I too have been made extremely depressed by this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have the same problem and it started a month after I started using the NUVARING. I`m going to try getting off of it since apparently it changes the PH in the vagina and causes all sort of infections (yeast and others) according to what I have read.

I posted on this thread maybe a year or so ago. I have been dealing with these problems (constant burning, pain during and after sex, burning with urination, etc) for seven years and I finally have a diagnosis. Although I do have occasional utis and bacterial infections (they still can't figure out why I'm having these because I follow every suggestion to the "t"). They have diagnosed me with vulvodynia and discovered I was having involuntary muscle spasms deep within my pelvic floor. I have tried four different low dose antidepressants and some nerve medicines to try and keep the nerve pain under control, they have done ganglion nerve blocks through the spine, I have taken chronic pain management classes, and have done physical therapy weekly for months at a time. After seeing a pelvic pain specialist, I was put on lidocaine - which is amazing for helping pain during intercourse if used twenty minutes before contact - and most recently have had two separate courses of Botox injections. I was very frightened to try Botox (it is botchulusm, after all) but I have to say it has been a miracle for me. It has worked where nothing else has and my pelvic muscles are finally in a relaxed state (the Botox forces the muscles to stop spazzing). While I have been told, by all 10-15 doctors I have seen, that they have no cure for vulvodynia/vestibulitis, I am finally able to have sex with my boyfriend of 8 years again without being in incredible pain. It's still a struggle and there are still some days I have to spend the day laying around the house because of the pain, but overall, Botox has been a miracle cure. I can even wear jeans again! Don't give up! There is hope, even when everything seems so difficult.

This too has recently started happening to me. I've been sexually active for 3yrs now and it's with the same guy. Am on the pill but don't know if this is a contributing factor however this problem started some days after I had a papsmear done! It has been continuing for about 3 weeks now :-). It's hurts when he tries to enter me, and also burns during and after sex. Also when i urinate there's that burning sensation, it sometimes even becomes inflamed. I must admit my partner is fairly large but this hasn't been a problem before. Now every time we have sex it feels like am a virgin all over again. I really enjoy having sex and hope that this passes soon b/c it's frustrating to want sex and be unable to do it cus of the pain. Hope to get responses 8-|

I have been struggling for about 1 year with burning during sex and been to three doctors and I had to go to a vulvovaginal specialist, due to continual yeast infections, burning, etc. I went to Dr. Andrew Goldstein in Washington DC and he put me on Diflucan and Nystatin for yeast issues which I will be on for three to six months. I also have hypertonic pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, in which Dr. Goldstein feels is conributing to my burning during sex, etc. due to build up of lactic acid from muscle dysfunctioning. Due to this issue he put me on vaginal suppositories with diazipam (a muscle relaxer in it) and I have to get pelvic floor therapy once a week for 13 weeks, which I am starting suppositoties tonight. So I will let everyone know how it works. I have been married for almost 17 years no issues up until last year and it is destroying my sex life having the burning sensation and it is depressing please email me if anyone has any advice or help with same issue i have my email is _[removed]_. Thanks, Wendy
