Im shocked at the amount of women on here complaining about the same problem! I feel like crying thinking that im never going to find a cure!!

I have been with my partner for 3 years and when i met him i was on the implanon (contraceptive inplant). Every thing was fine for a year and a half and we had sex in many different ways! - It was fantastic!!

In the last year and a half i started haveing a slight pain during sex. It was a burning feeling, whihch i thought may be down to STI. I went to get checked out and found nothing i was all clear.

I then started haveing constant urin infections. At least one a month! I was on several antibiotics and i though because of these urin infections this must be what is hurting durng sex!

I was trying to think of anything that may be causeing the infections. I stoped using certain lubes that i have found im allerrgic too and just used ones like astroglyde. During my period i have changed pantiliners as my vaginer really hurt when wearing certain types ( i now use special natural ones). All this helped the pain but i also went on yasmin to try to prevent having as many periods as this really didnt help!

I persavered and finaly i have got rid of the Urin infections however i still have the burning during sex! And it feels like it is just on the outside where the opening is. I am still on yasmin and have recentaly stoped taking it to see if this will help the pain.

I went to the gyno and they said that it maybe because i had a lack of estrogyn and i am dry, very similar to what the rest of you have said.
I try this for 3 months, no help! (I also dont suffer from yeast infections)

I went back and the lady basical checked me out and said there is nothing fisicaly wrong with you and that its all in my head!?!?!
I WAS NOT HAPPY!!

i have now transfered to a private hospital instead of using the NSH and have an appoint ment in a few weeks.
Im very much looking falward to this appoitment and will show her this website!

However i was speeking to my sister this morning who is 22 (im 19) and she lives in NZ now as she has recetaly emagrated and as i was explaining my symptoms she said that she was experienceing similar symptoms.

Were wondereing if its something to do with generics? Has any one eles had it passed down to them?

Is it something to do with our implanon as were both on the same contaception?

Is it to do with our PH levels?

Is it cervical cancer?

All these questions and the doctors seem to just ignor the links?!? there must be a reason for all of these symptoms!

At the doctors i will ask about these and also mention vulvodynia and HPV!

Ill post in a few weeks and let you know how i get on!!

Kind regards xxx

I hear all of you, it's been almost a year since I had sex with my boyfriend of three years. And my sex drive was big. Now it burns too much when I touch it even. I went to see my doctor and we did tests. No bacterial infection, or std. She suggests a tear might have happened and never healed properly. I might need Physiotherapy. She sent a request for a gynecologist, but they all have a list and i still have to WAIT. Will this ever end...

Hello Everyone!
I have been reading this site for a long time and have had the same problems as all of you. Major pain durning sex. Burning, irritation and finally just gave up. No sex with my man that I've been with for 2 1/2 years and that totally sucks!!!

I went to my gyno and have been tested for everything and I mean everything. Yeast, bacteria, std's, diabetes, and anything else you can think of. They did a biopsy and sent it in and it came back saying I had inflammation. My gyno said there was nothing they could figure out. The one thing she said is that my skin was very thin so she tried to put me on estrogen cream. I'm 31 years old and definitely not going through menopause. And to top it off estrogen cream is for women who have dryness problems and that was never the problem!

Then a light came on!!! I was talking to my mom and we got to talking about my problem and she suggested that I go to a dermatologist and have them check me out and guess what.... That's the problem!!!

The problem is called Lichen Sclerosus et Atrophicus so my dermatologist prescribed me a steroid cream and it takes a couple of weeks to really get it going but now I can have sex pain free and lots of it! When I went to see my dermatologist she checked me out and whipped out a book and said this is your problem. It is not a common problem and they don't know what causes it but it just sometimes happens. This also made sense why my gyno said I had thin skin and put me on estrogen cream. My skin was becoming thin because of the Lichen Sclerosus problem.

Look it up. This is what I found under symptoms -

Symptoms of Lichen Sclerosus Et Atrophicus
The initial signs of vulvar dystrophy are likely to be one or more patches of dry, thickened skin, often accompanied by persistent itching. The patch may be red and swollen at first, but later becomes opaque white. As the condition progresses, the abnormal, white skin area expands to cover all or most of the vulva. Thickened, dry skin may form tiny cracks that burn and itch, or the skin may become glossy, and very thin.

Beware of one thing. After my gyno called me up and told me that the biopsy was inflammation Her suggestion was to use the estrogen cream for 3 months to see if that improved my problem. I thought I was going to go through the phone. I told her that that was not a solution. After a problem for so long I was just right out ticked off. I asked her what she thought of having a dermatologist checking me out and she said that she didn't see the point. Goes to show you that doctors don't always work together very well.

So in conclusion. I am now able to be pain free and I hope that maybe this could help out some of you. Please ignore your gyno if they think your idea is crazy. The dermatologist was able to diagnosis me in under 10 minutes. I feel so blessed that I was able to get some relief.

Good Luck Ladies - I know what your going through!

Ladies,

SO GLAD that I found this section. All I can say is DITTO to all of you!

I am definitely going to go get checked for Lichen Sclerosus Et Atrophicus, and also screened for a Gluten or wheat allergy to see if that helps.

ALSO, have any of you tried to switch from the pill to nuva ring? I am considering making a change to see if that works and wanted to see if any of you have tried it yet. Maybe the less stuff in my body the better.

I did start taking probiotics and it does lessen the itch/burn, but it hasn’t gone totally away.

AHH we are so close to fixing this problem for all of us. AND REMEMBER… when you solve your problem POST IT HERE so we can call try, don’t forget about us when you are happily having amazing sex. :-P

Hey Girls!
Just got back from seeing a Doctor Privately....

Good news i think!! She looked and said that she coudnt find anything phisicaly rong!! Again, there must be something and she has decided that she thinks i have a PH imbalence, as when i was haveing all of the water infections i was on alot or antibiotics and she thinks because of this its killed the good bactiria in my vagina that makes acid!
Therfore when period and fellas seman comes along it makes the burning sensation because the PH balence is too nuteral!!

She has surgested geting some LIVE naural yougut. Live because that means its got the gud bacteria in it!!

She said to put some on a tampon 2ce a day for two weeks and try to get as much upthere as it were as posible!!

Maybe you ladies could try this and see if it helps anyone too! Im off to get some live yougert now so will let every one no!!!

Hey everyone,
So glad i found this site. Its really good to hear that im not the only one going through this. Ive been with my boyfriend for three years and have had this same problem before which i got rid of but now its back again!!!!!!
I had all the symptoms ive been reading here..fine when we begin having sex but then it starts to burn and i have to stop. Its red and burns when i go the toilet and then it goes away after about half an hour.
Because i had a number of bladder infections the previous year my doctor reconned that although my urine wasnt showing any infections she said that my bladder was probably inflamed. She perscribed MACRODANTIN for me which i took for a few months and it worked. My pain totally went away.I was taking maybe 2 or 3 tablets a day for a week and then i was taking one before intercourse.
In the mean time i went to see a bladder specialist and he has referred me to the hospital to get an ultrasound done to see why i was getting bladder infections.Ive still yet to go for that but ill post to let you know how i get on.
In the mean time my problem is now back and im p****d off!! Going to go back to my doc and see about maybe going back on MACRODANTIN for another while. Its been 6 mths or more since i was last on them.
I have absolutely no sex drive anymore and feel like sex is just not worth it as it just causes me hassel! >;)

To summarize: I've had the exact same problems as most of you..sex was fine for a long time, then the burning started. I've seen three doctors and been tested for everything under the sun, no one has an answer. The last doctor I went to gave me Premarin. It didn't help and I actually missed my period after using it. I took 4 pregnancy tests and got a blood test to be sure and I wasn't pregnant, so it was definitely the premarin that caused me to miss my period. This freaked me out, so I stopped using it because it wasn't helping the burning anyway.

Anyway, I could go on and on about how horrific this is and the damage it is causing to my new marriage. I'm so depressed and angry about this, and even more angry that there are no answers. This has nothing to do with yeast infections, lube, laundry detergent or condoms. We have literally tried EVERYTHING, and it continues to get worse.

Sorry I don't have an answer. I'm just one of many..

Sorry if this is a repeat. I posted earlier but I wasn't registered, so I don't know if it went through.

I have all the same symptoms, have seen multiple doctors, have been tested for everything..etc...etc..My story is the same as all of yours. Anyway, I was prescribed Premarin cream, and it didn't help at all, and it caused me to miss my period. I got a blood test to make sure I wasn't pregnant, and I wasn't. I stopped using Premarin because it wasn't working and it freaked me out that I missed my period after using it.

Anyway, it's hard to put into words the strain this has put on my marriage. We just got married 6 months ago and our sex life is horrible. I'm so angry. It isn't fair that we have to go through this. I used to be very sexual with my husband. We would have a lot of fun with it, and we had such a healthy sexual relationship. Now I hate sex. I almost start crying when I think about it. I hate what this...thing....has done to me, and us. And most of all, I hate that no doctors have any answers.

Yes, I have the same issue burning during sex. I have talked to my gyno and she said to use more lub but that is not my problem. I have been doing research on this issue and I am going to see a uroligist today. I am bringing a copy of this blog so he can see what people have said works and does not work. I hope he can help and I will come on again after this appointment this afternoon. I hope I have answers for you. I am very nervous this is not easy to talk about to anyone. But I am tired of the pain and this is hurting my marriage.

Similar story here, ladies. I had a normal sex life until I turned 24. I started having pain (not on the outside though-but right at the beginning of penetration) and it progressively worsened to the point where it consistently hurt, and I could only have sex for a minute or two and had to stop. It ruined my 4-year relationship. I went to several GYNs, had lots of tests run, etc. They said I have very minor cysts, and possible endometriosis, but that birth control should help that. So, I tried BC and it didn't help. I tried 4 kinds. I went to so many doctors, and one suggested that I have vulvodynia. I even went to a mental therapist for this, as it was explained as a nervous condition, and it did nothing. They prescribed Paxil, but I refuse to take it, because this is not mental. Doctors claim that when they don't know what else to say. It's now been three years of trying to figure out the issue, and basically avoiding men altogether. I've tried having sex a few times in between, and same thing happens each time-it hasn't gone away.

Dear All
I’m the man in this relationship. I have had my girlfriends/wife with these problems for 20 years. It cost many relationships and a divorce. My current relationship of 12 years has this problem.
Every doctor said it was a ‘her’ problem. I had a check and it came out completely healthy, but my wife had the same problems. To not upset me; The woman involved were not honest with the problem. She was running to wash as I finished – very painful for her.
I tried with a condom and it was fine. Turns out I have either acid or alkaline sperm. I can not bang away for hours the first time in 12 years as I did in the beginning of the relationship. I would have found a fix by now and at least this solution if the woman involved had been honest with me.
A man can cope with a health problem but CANNOT cope with ‘lack of desire’ this is what killed the relationships. My advise to all you woman out there – start being honest and differentiate between desire for your man and fear of painful sex with him.

I'm feeling your pain! I wrote a little earlier how my problem is now fixed and I'm telling ya to go see a dermatologist. The reason the gyno put me on the Premarin cream was because she said my skin was too thin. It turned out that the reason my skin was thin was because of the Lichen Sclerosus Et Atrophicus. This type of dermatitis actually has your skin start to shed causing thin skin which is why the gyno says your needing the premarin cream.

Different types of doctors don't tend to work together so when I told the gyno I wanted to see a dermatologist she acted like I was stupid but I said I didn't care and I asked her to send me to one that would look down there (not all of them will).

After I went to the dermatologist she prescribed me a simple cream that you use and it literally took me less than a week to be completely cured. I know it sounds crazy but what have you got to lose. It had put such a strain on my relationship with my honey of 2 1/2 years I was beginning to wonder if we were going to survive it. Trust me if this isn't the problem at least your honey will know your doing everything you can to get it fixed.

Good Luck and let me know how your doing.

What exactly was the "simple cream" your dermatologist prescribed to you? I'm sure a lot of us ladies are curious to know...

I am going to follow your suggestion and see a dermatologist, but I do have one question. I just looked up Lichen Sclerosus Et Atrophicus, and when describing the symptoms, it says there will be itching. I do not itch at all. Were you itchy, and still receive this diagnosis?

I have been reading on here about all these issues with woman and vaginal problems...and wanted to share some tips I have discovered. I never had anything down there only a yeast infection when I was 18 after I started B.C and first sexual partner, which I can't take B.C, and that was all I had really experienced. Then I had my first child, and I had a UTI for three months off and on and then YEAST infection off and on, it was HELL! I was so horrifed to experience it with my second that I obessed about it, and ever little tingle I became stressed out. However, I never got one....then about two years after I had my son, I got symptoms out of no where, I have come to learn it is alot of what you eat too....I can't eat Oranges, which I love........they irritate my bladder so badly and cause acid irritation to my urethera, which is enough to drive me mad. I get this horrible burning sensation and it is like you are stimulating your clitoris as you would in sex, with this so uncomfortable burning in the vaginal area.
Another tip I have learnt, is SOAP, no perferume soaps, no bubble baths, very irritating to the vagina. Condoms with lub on them can leave you irritated and RAW. Nony9 spermacide, is horrible for this, and latex sensativy is another factor. Diaphrams are horrible for infection, and sponges. Also, urinate before and after sex, and always clean your vaginal area afterwards. Also, if you are in a steady relationship, my husband...ex., can't use perfume soaps on his private area, because this adds to my discomfort.
Estorgen, is another factor, as you age your Estorgen levels also give, this can also be due to B.C, but, sometimes they thin out and cause the vagina to get irritated cause great discomfort in the area. Diary products are the worst for irritants in the bladder. Bread, chocolate, caffeine are all irritants and can cause great discomfort.
STRESS, well, stress I have personally learned what it can do to your whole being, it also can through your vaginal PH level out of whack and cause your vaginal area to become less or more acidiy and therefore can cause burning or infection, or all sorts of those nasty little things. I have done this personally and it worked great, ARM and HAMMER baking soda, very important to make sure it is diluted with 8 ounces of water and only about half teaspoon, MIS WELL before drinking, drink as much as you can and this will adjust your PH levels in your urine vaginal area, if works wonderful for UTI, UTI's are mostly caused from E-coli, which is washed out with baking soda. Episom salt baths are also great for improvement of well being too.....I hope this helps some people, I know it is hard, and I have just started suffering from this, and it comes and goes, it SUCKS, but I have notice that STRESS plays a HUGE part for me!
