Thank you for all of the information. My daughter had her gallbladder removed two weeks and ago and the experience has been terrible for her. She is in so much pain and I don't know what to do for her. She has been to the emergency room once and has had multiple calls to her doctor. No one has mentioned anything of what you have written about. Thank you so much.

This is exactly me 6 years now after surgery. My whole digestive system is a wreck. Abdominal pain like crazy. They say I have anxiety as if I'm crazy. I'm so weak from malabsorption. Would you mind letting me know how you are doing. Thx

i had my galbladder surgery 3 yrs ago, and i still have constipation to an extreme. i am only 25 years old. i had an enema today because I haven't had a bowel movement in 3 and half weeks, and im still constipated. im on 3 laxatives, and i still have bile in my colon and can't go to the bathroom.  i still have trouble. i'm on a strict diet and have a colonoscopy on the way. what disorders are found during a colonoscopy? in testing before removing my gallbladder i had high  pancreis enzymes. Can constipation cause pantreatic disorders?? i see my doctor in a couple weeks, but id like some advice or wisdom??

Usually people suffer from diarrhoea after gall bladder surgery. But the opposite can happen when you don't have enough magnesium in your body. You need to add more of it in your food habit to get relief quickly. They just work like a MAGNESIUM MIRACLE. You can always get more knowledge about it anytime you want.

I have found the Squatty Potty to be a big help. It's a special stool that raises your knees and relaxes a certain muscle that holds up your rectum, allowing you to eliminate much more easily. Look for it on YouTube. (I wish I had the 9" instead of the 7", but it still works.) This is the way people all over the world go to the bathroom. The western toilet has caused problems.... I'm also more constipated since GB surgery. But I tended toward that all my life. It's been 18 mo since my GB was removed. I'm having frequent strong stomach aches this week and wondering if my missing GB has to do with that. It's not always following eating fatty foods. I'm keeping a record and looking for connections...

I have read all the comments about constipation after gallbladder surgery, and I want to say that my experience has been quite different. I had constipation for the first 4 days, just as my surgeon said I probably would, due to pain meds and my system settling down after surgery. But since then, every day has gotten better. After 2 weeks, I am happy to say that all is well. I am able to eat anything (no diet restrictions at all) and I feel so good. I now realize that some of the vague symptoms I was having were probably related to a bum gallbladder, and now that that has been removed, I have no aching back, no occasional diarrhea. Please, if you are reading this comment section prior to surgery, or shortly after (as I did) be assured that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Be patient, and take good care of yourself!

Thank you so much for the blog. You're so right doctors do not prepare patients for the after effect. I had mine taken out in November and the struggle is real. I am going to try all your suggestion. Thanks again

My doctor recommended 1 Tablespoon of sugar free Metamucil ( can be generic brand ) mixed in 8 oz ( at least ) of water every day.

My husband had his gall bladder removed 3 1/2 days ago and is on a prescribed stool softener. But he is constipated and hasn't had a bowel movement since before the surgery. Should this be a concern?
