I train 3-5 days a week doing pilates, working at the gym, and playing volleyball. I have always had a flat stomach and as I have strengthened my core, my muscles now are more defined, but stick out a little. My waist has also seemed to thicken a little - which I am not enjoying. I eat a healthy diet and do not eat sweets or processed food. I am almost 39 years old and have one child- is it just my age catching up to me, or is my core training thickening my whole middle section?
Curious.

This is a problem with many stomach exercises because they can bulk up the muscles you are working and thicken your middle. I'm not a fan on core work because I think it focus too much on individual muscles groups. A good posture and diet are the best ways to a flat stomach.
