I had a Cortisone injection this morning in my hip. My blood pressure progressively rose and ended up at 221/118 before I was advised to go to the hospital emergency department for evaluation. I'm on HBP medication and never have I experienced blood pressure this high. It was attributed to stress rather than the injection. I had my suspicions and found this site. I'll be following up with my PCP tomorrow and will purchase a monitor.

My blood pressure went up to 184/148 a day after I had knee and shoulder cortisone injections. What to do? It is still too high.

I has a steroid injection twice , one in the shoulder and one in the back. After 12 hours , my BP was 220/100, went to ER both times, After 2nd time discovered it related to steroid injection. My Primary Doctor did not know it would would increase , I showed him the literature.. May have another injection and pain management ignored my BP statement. I just want assurance my BP can be controlled

Since I have had three steroid type injections in my eye, once a month, for Central Retinal Vein Occlusion, my blood pressure has been high. I never had high blood pressure before.

Did anyone’s blood pressure ever go back to normal?

Got cortisone injections in SI joints. Blood pressure rose abnormally high and fluctuated a lot for days. Finally, one night my chest was pounding anomy BP was 200/100. Normal for me is 135/75. Went to ER and they gave me BP meds which brought it down. After a month on Amplodipine, my BP is back to normal. Both my GP and back doctor deny any connection to the injections. There is too much money in giving these injections for DRs. to upset the gravy train.

I completely agree with you. I just had an injection in my SI joint on Wednesday. I have HBP. They never told me my BP could go abnormally high. I’ve been to the ER twice because it’s been 196/136 and 187/122. My cardiologist added a medication to get it down but it’s been 3 days and it’s still high. My heart was racing and I’m also sweating a lot. I’ll never get this shot again. I wish I knew the side effects before getting corticosteroid injection. I’m hoping it gets better in the next day or two. I was told it could be high 5-10 days.
