I've found coconut oil to be helpful too but I add some baking soda to it so that it is alkaline in PH and it burns for a few second but then relieves the itch and sensitivity. Really hard to deal with, worse at night. Have to bathe twice a day to keep it clean. Hoping it clears up soon. I agree, doctors are useless.

Yes, I was tested for herpes via culture and it came back negative; twice. I continue to have this problem of painful, itching cracks with inflammation at times. Seems anything irritates my skin and much of this can be attributed to my age and declining estrogen. I was told by GYN to not use any soaps, sprays, nothing....just wash with water and try to avoid panty liners.

I've been doing research myself for this and from what I'm reading it may be that candida is the problem. I've had these long narrow skinless folds off and on and now the corners of my mouth are cracked and peeling. I agree about the useless doctors! I'm pretty sure I've ruled out anything else and after using some anti-fungal cream for a few weeks with no (very little and only temporary) relief I had to figure it out for myself. Unfortunately a change in diet seems like the only thing that will cure this, or at least a week long cleanse. This candida is responsible for a lot of bad things going on in the body, like cravings for the foods that keep it thriving, sugars for me, and ranging all the way to fatigue and depression to leaky gut! I'm starting my "cleanse" today and am seriously considering eliminating some of these foods forever. I've found a few different videos on you-tube about how to get rid of it forever, sounds great to me, good luck everyone!

Toilet paper contains bleach, formaldehyde & chlorine!!! Distrusting that companies sell such things to us & worse without even writing it on the label. But natural toilet paper from Trader joes or whole foods. Look for chlorine free.

I have the same problem. I think it's because the lips crease and it leaves a cut. Pretty sure that's the reason for me, anyway.

You are amazing, Laura. I think it's processed foods. This happened to me after getting fat from junk foods. Time for an immediate change!

I have had these on and off for years, now have quite a bad one, I use Canestan cream, no perfumed soaps or shower gels, usually clears up quickly. It's definitely due to dryness and heat

I never experienced this issue until my hormone levels changed due to a complete hysterectomy. I am in my sixties and although HRT helped me for years, doctors are reluctant to give it to women my age now. Hope this helps.

Hormone levels after menopause or hysterectomy (complete) causes thinning of the tissues causing cracking and painful relations.

Three months ago I started using NuvaRing as birth control. Last month I got these cracks which I thought were some sort of allergic reaction to the pads I used during my period as well as using spit as a lubricant. I used zinc oxide cream for a few days and I got better. A few days ago the creases in my labia started itching again and I had a terrible burning sensation in my crotch after sex with my bf. Could it be a side effect of NuvaRing?? Does it make you prone to yeast infections??

II sure hope this helps some of you, coz I know firsthand the agony you are going through.

THE ANSWER IN MY CASE.....   SOY MILK &  PERCOLATED COFFEE

Having suffered intensely for over four years with this problem I was on the edge of fully going nuts. Tried every available cream, some worked a little, but the problem swiftly returned, always....

Thinking hard on what had been different in my diet during that time there were only two things left to try eliminating. Turns out BOTH were the culprits.

One was a well known brand of SOY MILK.  (Vita)

The other was PERCOLATED COFFEE.  I do not have a problem with instant though.

I wish you well.
