I had broken skin on my perineum for YEARS before I figured out it was yeast. Every time I went to a doctor it started to heal and they had no idea what it was. I had it cultured and nothing showed up. It kept coming back constantly in my late 30s so at age 45 I finally said screw this and applied straight bleach on the cut with a cue tip for 10 minutes. I was so mad by this time I just wanted to kill it. It hurt like hell but I must have killed it because it never came back.

I had this happen to me when I had a yeast infection. I was panicked and in pain, and I took a cotton ball and dabbed it in some coconut oil, and gently applied it to the area that was torn. Try not to manhandle it too much after, and careful not to put TOO much. Want to keep it dry down there...by the next morning, the tears were gone.

Dear Brilliant Girl,
A yeast infection, IS a FUNGAL infection. That means it's caused by fungus. That is why jock itch cream works for you and why your doctor gives you Diflucan, to treat the fungus. Please read up on these things before you post and ask things like, I don't know why they call it a yeast infection and then give me anti fungus pill. Duh! Because a yeast infection is a FUNGUS INFECTION!

I have the exact same issue. Mine started about a year ago in early 2016, maybe late 2015. I finally managed to ask my doctor about it, and be said cortisone would be to strong, but to try over the counter cortisone. I've been using it for 3 or 4 days now, and I only apply it before bed. It's pretty much cleared it up already.

Try a cream with 0.5 hydrocortisone.

Alright ladies listen up cause I'm about to teach you a thing. I had this problem and here is what my gyn said. No underwear to bed. None! When you get home rip those undies right off! Wear some loose gym shorts or lounge shorts/pants. It's weird at first but trust me after a while it is so comfortable. Another thing DON'T USE SOAP IN THE SHOWER! Don't do it, I know you're doing it cause I did too! I would wash cause of discharge but don't do it. Not even feminine washes unless you are told to. Here's what my doc said " you're not dirty, don't wash it. If you're rolling around in the mud in a bikini then I give you full permission but you don't need to otherwise." Just use a soft towel or your hand and some water and you're good. And be gentle, it's your genitals not a stain on a counter. Also mentioned in one of these replies is acidophilus pills or yogurt. If you don't wanna eat yogurt take the pill or vise versa. You'll find it in your local drug store's vitamin area and it will help level your ph. Next is coconut oil. That's right coconut oil. Keep that in your bathroom and just lather that stuff right on. Smells kinda weird but it is good for that vagina. Also if you really need it use some aquaphor. I recommend coconut for the skin closer to the vagina and aquaphor for the skin farther but it's your world, you choose. NEXT. I bet you don't know it but if you're itchy, you're probably itching yourself in your sleep and you know what that Does? Causes more irritation. So take some benadryl before bed and then go to sleepypoo. Also if you've been putting off getting new undies even though the ones you have are a little too tight, DO IT. get some new undies, treat yourself, or should I say treat your skin. Cause when your underwear or other clothing in that area is too tight your skin rubs together and causes are dry skin or ingrown hairs (they hurt my dudes). All in all, take care of your lady parts and slather some coconut oil on that sh*t.

I have used Aquaphor healing ointment with great success. Tear was gone in two days using that, plus plain old Ivory soap applied gently by hand instead of a washcloth.

Sjogrens syndrome can cause labial dryness. Doctors prescribed cortisone cream which addressed my symptoms - not the cause. The problem continued. My pharmacist asked did I use fish oil, which I do, and she suggested I raise my dosage to six 100 mg capsules of fish oil. The problem is now completely resolved. I no longer suffer the horrid dry scratchiness which had persisted on my labia for several years! Theresia.

Gluten, ya'll! Gluten! I have a gluten sensitivity or wheat allergy. I try to stick to a gluten free diet but as soon as I go crazy and start eating it I get dermatitis herpetaformis, which is a bumpy/blistery, oozy, inflamed, intensely itchy rash all across my stomach, chest, elbows, and the lady bits. I get that cracked skin right on the crease that tears every time I sit down. I used to only get the bumps and intense itching on my crotch and was tested for herpes and yeast (both negative) but doctors would give me diflucan anyway and send me on my way. I would get these flare ups usually on a monthly basis from when I was like 14 to 30. When I went gluten free for a year due to digestive issues I had zero flare ups. About six months ago I went back to my old ways and gluten filled diet and I have been in so much agony with this rash and skin tear. I've been GF for about a week and my rash is finally clearing up. Just wanted to share.

I am still hoping you will let us know because I have had the same issues since I had a radical hysterectomy, bilateral oophorectomy and salpingoophorectomy almost 4 years ago.
