Hello every one.... I am the same as the rest of you on here. The one thing I have read up on and for me it makes sense is a fungus called Candita. It's a very common thing in women so I would say check it out. I hope everyone finds something that helps cuz I know how much it sucks to have to deal with this.

I have this same problem going on right now. It started as just a small crack in the crease and now it has gotten a lot worse. It itches, burns, and has recently started bleeding. I am going to my doctor on Monday to get this checked out. I have read about it and the common answer seems to be a yeast infection but I have no other symptoms and this is something that is on the outside. The crease of my labia majora not the vaginal opening. So I don't see how this could be a yeast infection issue. However I do believe it is the same concept as chapped lips. If you are a woman who shaves down there and it gets dry it makes sense that it could crack. This is really painful and I am hoping this is not an on going thing. It has been like this for months now and is only getting worse. I am however glad to know I am not a freak and this has happened to others. Hopefully I can find out what is going on and I will post it as soon as I can.

this could be what is called lichen sclerosis. i was diagnosed with it in my mid 30s , but it is usually seen in older women.doc did 3 punch biopsies from the labia area. It causes the vaginal tissue to thin and turn very light in color . it is very prone to cracking. i have cracks that occur in the clitoris area and the perineal area. it is quite uncomfortable. a self exam in that area is important. they say this has what is called a key hole effect , meaning that the tissue turns white in the labia area down to around the anus. it looks like and old fashioned key hole. it isnt something that goes away . in fact with passing years ive noticed that it has gotten worse. ive used testosterone 2 % ointment(creams are not as effective) for yrs but now that doesnt seem to working. it itches and you think you have a yeast infection, but do not. i hope you all resolve this sensitive issue. ive never been more aware of "down there" til this happened. but remember when you do your breast self exam to take a mirror and check for any changes in vaginal area as well. it is something that i think drs need to tell a woman to do.

ahhh! I've been dealing with this also! I've always easily gotten yeast infections every since I hit pubertity, but here recently they have gotten worse. My skin between my vaginal opening and anus gets cracked and is extremely painful. I was scared to death that it was genital herpes, but it really doesn't seem like it and I don't see how it would be possible for me to have that. Is there any hope? I just started taking PH balancing pills things from the drug store and I'm hoping that it helps.

I have recently experienced this for the first time. I have had athlete's foot when younger and considered the similiarities...decided to try antifungal cream and after 3 days it is all but cleared up!

I checked with my doctor about this. It tends to happen more to women who shave down there. It is bacterial and extremely common. In the pack for a yeast infection there is a cream that is external use only. Use this cream for the cracked skin and it helps heal the crack along with stopping the itching and burning that happens. I hope this helps

I'm so glad I found this post, it made me feel a lot better knowing I'm not the only one with this problem. Here is a drug-free remedy that cleared it up for me in a few days:

- wash gently but thoroughly with a mild soap and rinse well
- pat excess water with a towel, then dry more thoroughly with a hair dryer on "cool" (make sure you dry between all the folds!)
- get an organic PLAIN yoghurt with NO SUGAR added. The only ingredients should be milk and the live bacteria cultures. Any added sugar would be food for yeast. Use the yoghurt like a cream over the affected area, or over the whole vaginal region to encourage "good" bacteria growth.
- You'll probably want to wash off the yogurt after a few hours because it will start to feel too moist. Just be sure to wash and dry thoroughly again - using a blow dryer instead of a towel makes a huge difference, just make sure you don't cook your puss with hot air :-)

It's also good to eat yoghurt, and drink water. Get enough sleep and try to relax - stress can affect the pH of your vagina and leave you more prone to infections. Good luck!

Thank God that I am not the only one with this problem. I have been experiencing the same symptoms as everyone else. Painful sexual intercourse, the cracking in the crease which bleed and hurt to even touch. It's making my sexual relationship with my boyfriend very stressful. I have looked everywhere to try and even find something close to what has been going on. I just kept thinking that it was another yeast infection but happening on the outside of my vagina?? Not normal in my opinion. But I also just read a post on here, and it happens to women who shave their vagina's a lot? Thank God it's nothing bad. If anyone finds anyway to help clear this up better lemme know :-)

I just developed this problem about 3 weeks after having my daughter. It seems that washing with baby wash and using baby lotion has helped a lot. I have also been patting dry with a wash cloth or wiping with baby wipes from time to time and that also seems to help if I keep up at it. I hope this helps. I would like to know if someone finds an answer to this million dollar question.

Imbalance of the vaginal floraFungi (Candida)Trichomonas

Someone described the vagina to me as a self cleaning oven once.  It's sort of true of the skin in general too. The natural flora, when in balance, keeps bacteria/fungi levels under control. Anything can upset the natural flora of the skin.  A decrease in one can cause an increase in another.   Temperature, moisture, pH (acidity), medication, sexual activity can all set things "off".

I've read through some of these posts. If you don't trust or understand what your doctor is telling you and/or why then you're not asking the right questions.  Be sure to get your money's worht when you go to your doctor, make them explain things to you until you really understand.

wow so many of us. Mine comes and go, and today i have it. ouch. I hate this. I even switched to Cottenelle moist wipes to be gentler down there. Nothing seems to help. I think its hormones personally cause ive noticed it comes a week before my period. Doctor cant think of anything. Tried the yeast infection creams and pills too. I ever switched to non latex condoms. Nothing.

Well in my case I had notice that when I used regular soap I get dry skin and crack really bad so what help me with this Is using shower gel with a lot of moisture in it. And when I use a soap from any hotel I get it for sure and I think is because we have sensitive skin because my daughter have the same issue as me when we use regular soap and even when I change the brand of the liquid gel. Hope this could help u. ;)
