Just a small correction. Acidophilus is not a vitamin although you can find it in capsule form. It is a type of bacteria and can help to recolonize your gut after taking antibiotics that kill the good bacteria along with the bad. Generally vaginal yeast infections are treated with miconazole cream which can be purchased over the counter. Good luck and hope you feel better!

What worked for me was oral wound cleanser (it's for the soft tissue in the mouth). Dissolve packet as directed and swab area generously with q-tip. Let dry and apply coconut oil. My huge fissure was healed in a matter of days. It's a little miracle packet!! I use Life generic brand (in Canada), Oral B took their brand off the market.? It works great on canker sores in the mouth too.

I have no idea what causes it but get the area really dry and then out Desitin paste ( thicker and stays put better) on it and it clears it up quickly. Be careful not to get the desitin on your clothes because it stains

I have had this as long as I can remember. Eventually decided to treat it as genital psoriasis. I basically use a zinc based nappy rash cream as a barrier, apply emollient moisturiser after showering and don't use any perfumed soaps or toilet paper. Occasionally, when the skin has split, you can get a fungal infection at the site. As someone else mentioned, using antifungal powder (like for athletes foot) or thrush cream will usually clear it.
I am even careful when washing my hair not to let shampoo or conditioner run down my body. Keep it clean, moisturised and protected and you will have less flare ups if any. Hope this helps someone.
