I too had a cyst on my eyeball. After reading the information here I decided not to have it burst at the doctors. I applied eye drops, wore contact lenses less and took ibroprofen on the odd occasion. 10 days later, the cyst has almost gone.

Eyes drops made it a lot more comfortable within a day or two I was even wearing contacts again.

I have since decided to test my eyes more regularly to allow them to breathe.

Hope this helps

I've now got the third cyst forming in my eye since just before Christmas. I use eye drops, ibuprofen and a warm compress but they always seem to take 5-6 days to go away, then I get a couple days with no cyst and then get another one. I'm getting very annoyed with this but the doctor I saw said there wasn't anything I could be given for it. The most annoying part is that half my eye turns red from the irritation and I have to walk around looking like I've got pink eye. Never had one in my life then all of a sudden 3 in a matter of a month.

Mine start off clear when they are small and as it gets a little bigger it looks like a red glob. Ibuprofen helps some with the irritation but other than that the doctor said there was nothing they could do.

I have had cyst removed twice and its back again. The first time only took about 2 mins. Next time it was move difficult he had to use small scissors to cut it off because needle didn't work this time because the cyst was thicker. Now the third time its bigger with a little tail on it and now i have sharp pains from time to time and have to keep steriod prescription eye drops available at all times. Eye looks weak and red. Docs like everyone else has stated have no real answers except one factor it can come with age and is harmless. Lol, I am 59.

Update to my last post...my cysts started just before Christmas. I started systane lubricant eye drops and they help some with the irritation. The cysts I get are around for 5-7 days then gone for a day or so then I get another one. I finally got some Claritin and started it and within a couple days my eye was cleared up and the whites were super bright. Then I forgot to take the Claritin for a couple days and now I have another cyst.

About a year ago I was on a job site where I was working with some really nasty industrial solvents. Somebody from the county government made a fuss about the stuff I was doing, said that the stuff I was getting misted with would eat away the lining of my lungs if I inhaled it. Guess that's why my supervisor said "try not to breathe too much," on my first day there. After that, I started bringing in an industrial respirator from home. It wasn't the full face kind. It just covered my mouth and nose, so my eyes were still exposed.

Around the same time, I noticed that my vision was getting really blurry. Maybe it's just a coincidence that this happened at the same time. I don't know. Once it got in the way of my abilities to drive my truck and shoot a rifle with iron sights, I made an appointment to see an ophthalmologist and he said I have a cyst right on my iris and helped me get some glasses so I could see normally again. Of course, I'd really like to go back to being able to perform normal every day activities without needing glasses. So, I'm looking into possible ways to fix my vision. Wish me luck and good luck to you folks trying to get your eyes fixed too.

I've had one for about 4 years.. It itches at times, but otherwise.. eh. it's right on the edge of my iris. I'm too afraid to get it removed or drained.. just for it to more than likely return. I just deal with it.

I also have Lupus and have had my eye cysts for a little over two months. I just found one in my other eye this morning, but this one is very obvious as it is filled with blood. I asked the doctor when I initially went in if steroids played any part in it like the do the central serous retinopathy at the back of the eye that I had before and was told it was most likely due to dryness (Sjogrens). I haven't gone to see about the new one yet.

Well after reading all the comments on people experiencing cysts in their eyes, I suppose I do feel better. I noticed the bubble in the white part of my eye a month or so ago, the Dr gave me steroids, told me to use them for 10 days and stop. He told me the exact same thing - surgery wasn't recommended it would probably return, it wasn't cancerous, probably wouldn't get bigger, it may split into two, but not to worry. Well, it's getting bigger, maybe it's getting ready to split in half and now it hurts, especially when I'm tired or stressed.

I have had several conjunctival cysts - at first - they were small - looked like a small bubble on the whites of my eye - it was irritating - but not painful- I was too frightened to go to the doctors. Second time round - the 'bubble' was larger and more uncomfortable- it affected my sight slightly - so I panicked - and went to an optician- they refused to look - so eventually I ended up at a gp surgery. The locum I saw was amazing and diagnosed within seconds - he said he had removed thousands by draining with a needle under local aneasthetic - however he did not have his equipment with him. He advised me to go home and see how it was in a few weeks- and if it did not clear to go back to get it drained. Luckily it disappeared again- but chances are - it will come back - however draining will not prevent re appearance - so I just leave them alone and use eye drops if too uncomfortable. I hope this is of help to you

My doctor said this was the largest cyst he had ever seen and I needed it surgically removed. Draining it just relieves, but can fill back up in some cases.
