Yes Laser is brilliant. I grew up with the worst ingrown hair and scarring problem ever and it was so frustrating and sad for years. However a few years back Laser hair removal wasn't ideal for black skin, so had to suffer for a few more years but as soon as I heard that there was a type of Laser available to treat black skin I got onto that straight away. I must say as darker skin types or really light hair are much harder to treat and done incorrectly, could have grave consequences. I wasn't going to take any chances with a possibility of more damage to my skin, that would've killed me. Anyway I did my research and decided to go for the best of the best on Harley street (at the time, I am sure other clinics have caught up now, but I've stuck with  the Harley medical group as I started with them) even though they were the most expensive at the time...My policy is you get what you pay for, so I go all out no short cuts when it comes to anything really.

The treatments which I first started off on my bikini area was just absolutely brilliant the best thing ever. It doesn't get rid of hair completely as I've been doing it for over five years. The hairs are pretty much non existent, takes forerverrrrr to grow back and is uber thin. I mean you can barely see it or feel it but I'm used to having baby soft smooth skin now that I always want everything even if its one little hair off. Now I've done my legs and underarms too. Over the years scars cleared completely and my skin was perfect again. Never suffered from ingrown hairs since UNTIL....three weeks ago. Like I am soooooo mad at myself I do not know why I did this or who bloody asked me to :(. Ok so I hadnt had my bikini laser in over 9 months as at the moment I am concentrating on my full legs and as we all know Laser can be expensive and I do it all  the time so its just not a one off thing for me. So in a bid to save money as I said it had been nine months and I had a little bit of hair albeit really thin and not much at all, I wanted to get rid. So never having waxed before even when I was younger and had the whole shaving problem. My whole trail of thought was you know waxing is meant to be better. takes longer to grow back apparently, rips it off from the root bla bla bla so went over to my local spa got it done and remember thinking on my way home, Oh my gosh why have I never done this before, its super smooth and could've saved myself some money from booking extra Laser treatments over the years. Errrrrm Ill tell you why!!!!! Cos a few days later I broke out like you haven't seen. Its like all these years was an absolute waste  I had bumps everywhere ingrown hair and all the rest of it just like it used to be. I am terribly upset its unreal why why why did I do it???Anyway the damage is done now :( I did lots of research and so far I've been using Skin doctors ingrow go and in less than a week it got rid of the bumps and seem to definitely be battling the ingrown hair situation. The only issue now is that its scarred me again really badly. Well it looks awful to me perhaps its because I have had all these years of clear lovely bikini area and now this :( Its heart breaking to me. I'm definitely going back and sticking to laser as my only form of hair removal in sensitive areas at least.

I am not waiting another couple of years for these new scars to disappear so I am taking drastic measures. They have to go ASAP! so I noticed the skin doctors ingrow go that I've been using was peeling my skin also, not in a bad way but you could see fresh new skin underneath, So I googled it and it is because it has the glycolic acid (I think someone else mentioned this earlier) in it too, The percentage however I am unsure of. But yes its been peeling which is great. To battle the actual blemishes I am going to use an Obagi cream which has hydroquinone in it but its fine cos it can only be prescribed by a doctor, you cannot get it over any counters. As long as it is used as prescribed and within the time frame the doctor tells you specifically its totally safe and works perfectly.

So thats my story hopefully in a month or so the blemishes would have cleared completely and the moral of the story is I am never waxing ever again.

If you cannot afford Laser use the ingrow go before your hair removal routine and a day or so after for as long as you need it. To battle scars I'd say the glycolic acid ingredient works but even though your scars are lighter, however in comparison to the  fresh new skin coming through the scars are still visible if that makes sense. So you do have to use a skin lightener on the affected areas to even it all out. I wouldn't advise bleaching creams over the counter as a lot of them aren't trust worthy and who wants to find out when its too late ay? So stick to a prescribed and monitored one or if you have the patience natural remedies should work over time. When you are not using the glycolic acid do exfoliate it helps. both of which help the products sip into the skin creating better faster results. Please don't exfoliate or pick your skin when its peeling when using the acid cos the premature picking of the skin or rigorous tear can scar you even more.

Read my other response just posted right after yours. Just to answer your question...The pain is bearable you can use a numbing cream fifteen minutes before your session or take a pain killing tablet an hour or so before, works to minimize the discomfort. In the end pain or no pain it is all worth it darl :) I can assure you

Hi ladies, I have the same problem. I found that its hard to use shaving creams and wax once you already have the bumps, scars, etc. but I've found ways to shave that lesson the appearance of ingrowns and bumps. I find that using coconut oil before and after really help to give me a smoother shave. Also exfoliating before and after helps a lot to remove dead skin or release hairs that were trapped under the skin. I found this website that demonstrates the proper way to shave. Turns out I had been doing it all wrong! While I still haven't found a successful way to remove my previous scars, I'm hoping one of your remedies will work for me. Good luck!

Mederma really works, at first I doubted it but I have some really bad self harm scars on my thighs, like reeeaalllyyy bad and they're not gone but I used mederma on and off for about a year and my scars are so much lighter I can even wear a bikini now. I tried target's knockoff of it but idk if its my skin or the formulation but its not the same, it just kinda peels off instead of seeping into the skin. So anyway yea mederma works its worth the money if you really want to get rid of any scars.

Was causes the dark spots is an over production of histamine in the injured hair folical. So use cortizone on the affected area.

This may sound weird but I have razor bump scars on my stomach and I saw a video where she exfoliated with brown sugar then put lotion not containing alcohol on it and then put deodorant on it. It has helped some but woth anything you use or do you have to be consistent with it. Hope all works for you!
