I've been living with this issue since I was a kid. It was terrifying back then I'll admit. I would have borderline panic attacks and the only thing that would help is if I laid down and rolled onto my back and looked at the nearest wall until it passed. For some reason it made my eyes focus and I would get over it. Nowadays I just enjoy the brief moments where it happens because my eyes seem to focus at long distances and it's like I have great far sight vision.
I wonder if there is a correlation between being near sighted and this issue. Din, does your son wear glasses or have issues seeing objects or writing farther away?
Anxiety issues trust
Amazing... Ive had this for as long as i can recall, moreso when I was a kid. Never have been able to explain it. Has anyone put a name to it yet? Is there any medical diagnosis?
it's called AIWS, Alice in Wonderland Syndrome...look it up in wikipedia.
i suffer from kind of same problem...i get elevated vision or sometimes things seem far i get this vision for about 10 to 15 mins then i close my eyes n it goes once it stayed for a day...it is very annoying i have got mt eyes checked number of times but their is nothing wrong with my eyes...and yes when i have this vision and close my eyes i feel like i am really big and yes i also begin to sweat and panic but that makes it worst when i stay calm it goes...
This morning I finally decided to Google what I am experiencing right now and came here. I have experienced this since the age of 6 or 7 and complained to my parents about it but the doctor had no explanation.
I am 27 and I'm experiencing it now again. Every few weeks or month or so I get this feeling for a few minutes to a couple hours that everything is "far away" even though I can see everything with perfect clarity. I would actually say that simultaneously everything seems "very close". I can tell the difference in the depth of objects (i.e. I know which ones are closer and which are farther away), but the only way I know how close or far those object are are due to 'what they are', rather than the "usual system of just knowing". In other words, if I was placed in a room where I couldn't see myself and the object I was seeing was unfamiliar to me, I would probably have no idea what size it was or how far away it was.
This tends to happen to me after a recent lack of sleep and often sets in when I begin to concentrate on something, such as software coding or reading. (In this case I was up until 1:30am, it is 11am now and it just set in when I say down to code software.)
The problem is more "interesting" and "odd", than actually debilitating. However I would rather it did not occur. I am also very curious to know if there is a technical name for it or if it's a possible sign of something that may need attention.
i dont know if we have the same problem or not but the symptoms sound kind of same...i first got it when i was of 15 years..it really annoys me i try to ignore it but i cant i have to lie down n close my eyes then only it goes and yes i have noticed whenever i concentrate on something this strange vision sets in ...i have got my eyes checked several times but all my tests are normal...do you in any case have anxiety issues
aawww...this is cruel...i kind of have the same syptoms....i m 25 now and started to get this vision when i was 15 and i noticed it can be because of the anxiety...do you in any case have anxiety issues
Greetings! Interesting. No, I typically don't have any anxiety issues (things in my life are generally going very well), however the last day or two I have been "frustrated" as I'm trying to get something computer-related figured out and I'm running out of time - so perhaps this "temporary" anxiety has something to do with it? Apparently the symptoms may be related to the so called "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome". In my experience, lack of sleep is the most direct cause.
i also think the same ...do you suffer from this symptom
