I Don't think it is a bad thing to shave your chest hair. I'm60 years of age. I've been doing this since I was 16. I also shave my arms back and belly. I love the smooth boyish feeling and I fell clean and free when I go shirtless.

Hi, first off, I hope it doesn't hurt to take off that much hair time by time to stay smooth, do you shave your legs as well?
At any age we can take care of ourselves and go for the look we prefer, 60 is still young but mature, though I'm younger. We can love to feel smooth I agree, but not sure it's boyish, it doesn't have to be. At most juvenile or one of the many ways to be defined and trimmed. Some trim a bit, others like you prefer it smooth.
Going shirtless you'd show it off, but depending on the context it might be not elegant, I dunno, it depends as I'm all for freedom, so it's all relative :)
You might wear a low cut v neck shirt, not too tight and shorts so that a part of your shaved chest and legs would show.

I don't that shaving your body hair is anything wrong with it. I've done this since I was 16. now at 60 I'm still shaving my upper body and felling grate about it.

Hi, if I can ask, how's your shaving rountine and how long does it take and how did you prevent irritation, bumps and ingrowns if you have to shave often, also dependin on how hairy were you and how thick you hair was :). Some irritation and bumpd once in a while on a few zones of the body is fine if most of the time your skin is fine and comfy.
Can you always shave against the grain?
I ask so that when I start shaving more of my body I'm ready, as I know I'd have to keep taking care of it.

No there is nothing with a man shaving his chest. I m a 60 year old man I have been shaving my upper body since I was 16. I don't feel ode about this. If you have a problem with this well shame on you.

I'm sorry about about that, some people here are a bit judgemental, because they don't like hair removal for themselves and don't like the look of it on men, they judge other men for it instead of stopping at that. At least some of them also don't ask their women to shave. The opposite doesn't happen.
Though what message are you referring to? I hope not my message which is right before yours, because I wasn't shaming you, but asking info and tips on how to shave comfortably.

And those messages are quite old, like 2005, but this system of relative dating sucks because after "more than 1 year ago" you have no point of reference other than looking at quoted messages which have actual dating
a message you quoted 18 days ago ( 2020-10-21 atm ) says it dates back to 2005 as it says "in reply to anonymous on 2005-11-26" on top of the quoted message.
Though I sometimes quote old message is there is uncorrect info, like the myth about shaving making har grow back much thicker and darker in a short time or actually making more follicle grow, not just making some vellus turn terminal hair if they are already about to turn terminal and thick :).

"I mean it doesn't bother me a ton, but when your the only one at the water park that looks like you have something you shouldn't - and so many people stair it's unfrigin believable,an there not discrete about it either. What should I do ??????????? "
I don't think you are the only one with some amount of chest hair, but even if you were, what's wrong with it? If they stared they had a serious problem.
Only shave if that's the look you like the best for yourself!

"Does the hair grow back thicker ,Longer when you shave it ??" maybe a little bit for some people, over time, assuming it isn't just because we get hairier as we grow up but nowhere near as much as the myth states and nothing to be afraid of. The myth assumes that you start shaving at 13 and and you are much hairier at 21 because you shave, but that's clearly not the case.

i" How long does it take for the red bumps go away?" what's good is that you shouldn't be getting those bumps in first place, if you shave correctly, maybe once in a while, but not on a daily basis :).
"What are the Pro's and Con's about it ??"
Sure! :)

Pros:
It can be very comfortable and almost painless

Very quick

It’s cheap

It’s easy, yeah you get better at it with time, but it doesn’t take as much training and learning.

You can take hair off at any length.

Cons:
Your hair might eventually grow back a bit thicker and longer over time, and prickly, so you might have to shave a bit more often.

It lasts much less than waxing. You have to do it often to maintain your skin smooth.

It can take more time complexively than waxing despite the single session being quicker, because of how often you have to do it.

That you choose to keep or take off you chest hair, do what you best see fit and what you find the most flattering and what you think suits your personality the most, it will be awesome whatever you're gonna do :). In case you decided to keep your chest hair, go ahead, but remember, that you want to keep a trimmed length or not, try to keep a trimmed frame and shave any stray hair growing above your collarbone, usually along the front of your neck or your shoulders. That will take away any impression of hair creeping up and it's about keeping beard and chest hair separated, like shaving or taking care of unibrow.

1.I shave once and hair is thicker
Hair can’t really get thicker by shaving just once or even a few handfuls of times. So decide calmly before eventually choosing to keep shaving or stopping, with all the ease to try different methods before making the choice. What’s true is that it’s indeed best to stick to a method, for the best results.

2.The earlier you start shaving the thicker your hair is gonna get, the later the thinner.
Not at all, how early you start shaving has no influence on how much thicker it’s gonna eventually make your hair. Shaving just cut the hair, so, especially if you are of an age when your hair is evolving it’s true that sometimes you might see hair growing inequivocalbly thicker even after just one shave, but that’s just because there was already a layer of thicker hair which you made grow back by shaving the old grown ones. The follicles were likely already larger. As our body is rapidly changing it simply means that hormones have had effect on the new hair not on already grown hair. That was already bound to happen anyway.

3.Hair grows back much thicker, darker and stronger.
Unshaved virgin hair naturally grows tapered, it’s much thicker near the skin, that’s why if you shave you cross it where it’s thicker and it loses it’s finer tip. The thicker part of the old hair is then gonna be the thinnest of the new one, but it doesn’t indicate the follicle is actually thicker or stronger.
What’s true though is hair won’t look and feel the same for months varying depending on how long their cycles last before shedding. Hair might actually get much thicker if we start in our teen years (see point #1), but then it gets noticeable thicker for other reasons. Only over a long time it might eventually lead to it remaining very slightly thicker and/or once you let it fully grow back, than it might have if unshaven, with minimal effects of strengthening of the actual hair root, but only for some people including myself, but nowhere near the extent attributed to it by the myth :). You might want to simply keep shaving regularly when the hair shows to prevent that. Only shave fine hair if some terminals grow among them and avoid going any more further on fuzzy areas ;).

4.Hair grows back thicker everytime you shave
Not at all, hair eventually stabilizes as the however minimal stimulation of follicles yields less and less effect over time and can’t anyway become really much noticeably thicker at all than it wasn’t destined to be even if you didn’t shave as it reaches a certain point where it's the thickest it can get, then it’s never gonna get any thicker than that.

5.Once you start you can’t stop.
Assuming that the reason to not stop is hair getting thicker, well it’s actually hard to stop because hair is blunt, hence it not only appears thicker, but depending on the type, feels bristly and prickly to the touch and generally looks uglier than before from the very first time we shave that zone. We are then compelled to keep shaving but once we let it fully grow back it doesn’t remain thicker and their roots aren’t really strengthened, they only do just a little bit and over a really long time we are shaving, long after we first started, so it’s not a problem as long as you stop before at least a good few handful of shaves, it’s just a bit annoying because you have to endure the stubble phase anyway, which is why is better to not start at all unless you are ready or if you just want to confront methods or you are not sure if you like the hairless look there :).

6.There are real significant long term effects ^_^.
Not true. Hair only gets temporarily prickly during the regrowth, but past that it might only remain maybe just a little bit thicker once it’s fully grown back for some people if you have shaved for a very long time and very little more than if you didn’t :), imho nothing to be afraid of.

No there is nothing wrong with shaving your chest hair or your body hair for that fact. I'm a 60 year mail and I have been shaving my body hair since I was 16. I have no problem in going shirtless in the gym or park or swimming. I shave my arms and pit and hands and my back as well. I just don't like hair. I hope this helps.

After shaving don't forget to moisturize your body really good so it doesn't get dried out.
