I would get an ultrasound of the pelvis to rule out any ovarian problems because the pain and bloating and urinary urgency and the heartburn are all signs of ovarian cysts

See, the problem with people like you is that you don't seem to understand that people kill themselves working out everyday and eating incredibly healthy, and still GAIN weight. Only to be told by someone like you that what they need to be doing to working out and eating healthy.

Yes unfortunately the weight gain seems here to stay and gradually getting worse. It's been three years and 14 pounds later. I have tried everything.

From what I've been reading, people will stop eating 3 meals a day and only eat one or two, which is not the answer. If you do that, your body will go into starvation mode and start to store all the fat you eat. You need to keep a healthy diet of 3 meals per day and still eat a little, not much, fat. A lot of protein and less carbohydrates is the best way to go. Running 1-2miles a week or a day (which is better, in my opinion). It still be hard to lose weight, however, you shouldn't vain is at an outrageous rate.

Hey! I'm getting my gallbladder removed next month. What diet or changes did you make?

Hey! Thus is the guy that posted above you ^^. Just letting you know it totally depends on the person. There are so many different side effects. I lost 11 lbs after 3 days. Some people have diahareha. The only thing different I've experience is the occasional burping after greasy fatty foods and have more common bowel movements. And the weight loss of course. Would love to hear your symptoms after surgery though so I can compare what I've seen. Try to eat low fat foods and stay as healthy as you can. 3 meals a day. Try to stay on shape too. Some people experience dramatic weight gain after surgery, so you might want to get a head start!

I also tend to go up and down in weight. I will get excited because I have lost 5 kg but then a week later I have picked up 3 again.
It is a little frustrating as I am trying to stick to a low fat low carb eating routine; but it seems some days that the 'better' i eat the more i pick up instead of lose

When I had my GB removed, I'd say three months it took to become as heavy as I did, since I wasn't informed to be careful what I eat, or drink. I gained 15-20lbs in that time frame. My weight before surgery was 134. So, I started researching and exercising 5days a week for a month. I ate healthy, so I thought. I didn't loose 1lb. I did more research and found that I still need to cut out oats, grains, eggs, oranges, red meats, alcohol, basically the stuff they should explain to you before you have the surgery. Which they didn't inform me. So, I dropped to 141 after realizing & cut my work out for a month to see results. Thats the lowest I got since I haven't been as careful. My question is if I get pregnant how much could I gain? My last pregnancy with gallbladder I only gained 16lbs. So what should I expect? I'm 35 and I wish I would of waited longer to get gallbladder removed. Even though I waited 18yrs. I always handled the pain well...

I dont know if having a fat free diet to combat weight gain is true. My mum has had her gall bladder out years ago and has issues with her weight and she doesnt seem to eat a lot she skips breakfast and usually has a latish lunch. However with a certain diet she can lose weight quickly. She has tried the Aitkens high protein and fat diet with no sugar and no carbs. She has been on and off this diet a few times and seems to lose the weight fast. So I am wondering if its really a high fat diet you must avoid. I think that information can be misleading myself.

Thank you for your post. I had the exact same situation. I am 49 and had my Gallbladder out around 42 and in the past 4 years I have gained 40 pounds. Same thing in my mid section, this is crazy I don't eat super bad and I exercise pretty regularly the worst thing is the "pot belly". I can't even imagine that there is this many of us that are complaining and Doctors want to say that their is NO evidence that the gall bladder caused this weight. I get that I am getting older but I was down in my weight after I had my kids I got down to 129 so even if you throw in my age 140 would be acceptable but I am 170. This is absolutely NUTS. I just started researching this because this is the heaviest I am and I am determined to get it off. I am joining weight watchers tomorrow, or some weight loss program. Honestly if they would have told me that I would have gained all this weight I would have rather left my gallbladder in. :( I have another questions for everyone, over the past 3 days I have had that same "gall bladder" pain. It is often after I eat, my girlfriend said that even though I don't have a gallbladder I can still get gallstones...does anyone know if this is true? Thanks, M

I suffered for 22 years with my gall bladder and I waited until after my 3 pregnancies to have the surgery, but Now I wish I never had it, I managed the pain better than I feel about the weight.
