weed is a plant just like the foods vegetarians eat like pawless so how can you attribute high ldl levels to smoking it? it has no cholesterol to begin with. No vegetation has cholesterol but vegetables do contain good and bad fats that can effect your cholesterol levels but i doubt the you would consume fats from marijuana by smoking it. I think you would have to eat it but I am not sure. i also believe that most of the fats in plants are good fats known to lower ldl levels.

sometimes high cholesterol is genetic. My husband is 6' 2" and 172, very lean and eats healthy, no red meat, munches on oats, nuts and lettuce all day and he too has high bad cholesterol. I am researching this because my 15 yo son has LOW cholesterol and I can't figure it out why except that we started him on low THC and high CBD due to his autism and violent outburst. Good luck to you.

I think I know why or partly why. Ive been told that the thc hangs out in the fat cells of our body. The more fat you have the longer it takes to get the thc outta our blood stream, so maybe it's helps store it so it has a place to hang out if you aren't heavy? I'm not overweight either. I was a bodybulcer in my late 20s early 30s and I've always maintained a healthy lifestyle and now I have high colesterol. Why? Someone needs to really research that.

Even though you are vegetarian and exer regularly your LDL levels can still be high especially if you consume a lot of milk and eggs (mainly eggs)

so here's my take on it! i'm 24, may have drunk the equivalent of 3 bottles of alcohol my entire life, was smoking cigerettes (about 5 a day on and off for 3 years since 18). I moved back to my home country of uganda two years ago and as it's cheaper and home grown weed, i would smoke everyday). I did pick up tobacco briefly but cut it out. My bad cholesterol hit borderline so I started excersizing heavily on a regular basis but kept on smoking weed.

three months down the line every time id smoke my heart felt like it was gonna explode and i swear they were all heart attack symptoms. Checked my cholesterol levels and they came back as High!

i quit smoking as i didn't want to risk my life, so after two months i decided to make snacks and brownies with the weed and that went well for a month until I had the exploding heart pains again.....I can't really go see a doctor about it without risking them calling the cops so i just let go of it until I consult a doctor offshores....

therefore I feel not everything about weed is correct, not many people may come out and admit to a medic of their use when they may suffer such health issues as it's still illegal or tabooed on many countries.

weed and bad cholesterol may just have a negative connection. hope my experience helps.

The reason pot causes high LDL is from the accumulation of free radicals from smoking pot. Free radicals cause high LDL..Hope this helps..

Hi, I jut came back from the doctor today and she said that my cholesterol level was the best she has seen in months. I also smoke marijuana daily for about 13 years now, so maybe there is another reason for your high LDL levels or maybe it has different effects on different people. Just thought I would let you know that maybe there could be other reasons for your levels being high.

I am 51 and my cholesterol has always been around 250-280. (hereditary). I also smoke daily and cholesterol check this year was 334 with LDL of 220. I also take Glucosamine Chondroitin as well. I am not sure if you take these supplements, but people have also complained that their cholesterol levels have gone up a lot while on these supplements. I hope it's not weed. ;) I am going to stop the Glucosamine and see if this is possibility.
